It's clear he has a lot of knowledge and his demeanor put me at ease--both to try conquering my apprehensions about swimming and also to ask any question I wanted. I often got to my lessons early and got to see Matt working with other students, both children and adults. It's clear others also appreciate working with him. One mother told me her daughter was afraid to put her head under water before Coach Matt, and we watched as her daughter now leapt into the deep end with a smile on her face! I was only in Augusta for a few months, but if I return, I will definitely be trying to get a few more lessons in with Matt.

The statue sits in the middle of the street. It is easy to find. There was no traffic or people walking around for that matter. For whatever reason I was not ready for the fact that the statue was the same size and height as Mr Brown. It sits on a concrete landing that's easy enough to climb in order to get a better view of the details or take pictures. I was intrigued. Down the street, maybe a block away is the mural. We took so many pictures standing in front of it. People in cars were riding by, stopping and taking pics. It is truly a beautiful tribute to the Godfather of Soul.
