This made it dangerous when pulling into oncoming traffic or avoiding pedestrians or bicyclists as they whisked by me. * It rained heavily that day, but faulty windshield wipers smeared the window, creating a visual hazard, which caused me much anxiety, especially on the M11 motorway to Cambridge at highway speeds. * The wide-body Nissan was challenging to navigate through central London in heavy traffic, and unbeknownst to me at the time, I inadvertently scraped a metal width-restriction bollard. This left a black paint streak along the lower-left passenger-side door panels, for which I was charged a 250-pound deductible. * Back at the agency, I asked for a different car for the next day, but the only vehicle available was a manual transmission Kia. It had been years since I drove a stick shift, and as an American, never with my left hand, but I had no other choice. The transmission was touchy, and the car stalled about halfway up the parking garage exit ramp. With another car stuck behind me, I felt pressured as the Kia repeatedly stalled before I finally reached the top of the ramp. * Feeling it wouldn't be prudent for me to drive any further in this vehicle, I circled the block and returned the car in front of the agency office. To my surprise, when I got the invoice, I was charged the full second day's fee (rental, insurance, taxes, etc.), although I didn't use the car and had to cancel my travel plans for the day.

We had an 11 o'clock reservation and have been waiting over 90 minutes and still do not yet have our car. When I asked the manager Isaac, we just got stonewalled with no real answer. They said the car reserved for us has a flat tyre and they will drive us somewhere else but we still have not seen anyone to drive us there. This is absolutely unacceptable, we have limited time in England and we are spending close to 2 hours just to get a car. BAD, WORSE & ROTTEN!!…read more This was probably my worst rental experience and I would like everyone to be warned about my experience with Alamo/Europcar/National car hire, which at London Heathrow is the same place. I arrived early in the morning from a long trip abroad and was promptly collected by the bus to be driven to the car rental company. On getting there the driver was kind enough to put my case on the sidewalk and told me to go inside and that my case would be safe where it was with many other cases. After standing in line for about 30 minutes, I went to check on my case and found it had been removed. Luckily a gentleman standing nearby noticed someone had loaded my case into a van. I rushed inside and after two hours they managed to identify the vehicle that we thought had taken my case. The lady at the car rental tried to contact them and left messages and sent texts. Luckily they returned the case the following day and I had to travel over 100 miles back to the rental company to retrieve my case. Besides this incident I must point out that there was around a two hour wait to collect your car even if my case was not taken. This two hour wait after a nine hour flight remains a lot to be desired. You would think this would be the end of my problems but when I returned the car after the rental period, the car was checked in and found to be perfect and I was told to go and get on the bus back to the airport. I asked for a receipt, but was told that they do not issue receipts but all was in order. When I returned back home, there was an account waiting for me for what they said was a shredded back tire. Having being in the motor business for 30 years I assure you it would be impossible for anyone to drive and not notice that a tire had been shredded or at the very least notice that there was no air in the tire. I disputed this with the credit card company and after a lot of hassle, they finally passed a credit. My advice is never use this car rental company, and always make sure you get a receipt that the vehicle was returned in good order!

This location had to cancel a reservation that was made by my sister and put it under my name. Somewhere between me getting the confirmation email with details of the contract, and turning the vehicle in, my sister received all of the following emails including my personal information and charged that we accrued. I reached out to an agent- Jesus Brito- about the matter on March 7th, who essentially called me a liar and blatantly refused to help me. Finally he gave me the contact for the Data Protection, while refusing my many requests for his superiors information. I asked over 7 times before he finally complied. I reached out to the Data Protection department on April 2nd- i was hastily sent back an email saying that they would do an investigation and let me know of their findings. Let me ask you this: How do you investigate something you don't even know what you're looking for? They didn't ask me what happened, or for my emails of proof that i stated i had- nothing to make me feel like they actually cared about my personal data. Here we are, April 26th and i have heard absolutely nothing from the Data Protection department. NOTHING. I reached out to Mr. Brito's superiors and they will be looking into how poorly his customer service was and my case with him, however they state that they are not in the Data Protection department. Yet again, I am being tossed here and there, JUST LIKE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION. So my words of advise are this: If you value your privacy and your personal information, do not- i repeat- DO NOT rent from Budget or their affiliates. _________________ UPDATE 5/17/19: On April 22nd 2019, I received an email from a customer care representative by the name of Anna Sebok. She assured me that they would use my complaint to better their standards but offered nothing more to help me with my personal information being given out. I have emailed her numerous time explaining that i know it is not her department but we are now nearing TWO MONTHS and their "Data Protection" unit is doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help me. DO NOT trust this company. Just don't. Their customer service is everything other than. Save yourself the heartache and stress. Trying to get this issue resolved is worse than pulling teeth. Even if it means spending a little extra money, avoid this company at ALL costs.

The team has held onto my rental deposit as they are claiming that there were mechanical issues with the car yet have failed to provide proof of said issues, simply giving the excuse that the car manufacturer needs to inspect the damage to determine it was caused by me or something covered by warranty. The guy who answers the phone is smarmy, and seems as though the branch is just one of the lazy ones which cant be bothered serving clients. We've been a loyal customer of Thrifty utilising them most weeks. May have now lost another customer! Thrifty should learn the meaning of customer service.
