Unfortunately they didn't have a lot of automatic transmission cars to choose from (I can't drive manual). I just needed something small and cheap for the day, but unfortunately had to pay a bit more to secure an automatic. The pick-up went very smooth. The clerk was friendly and it only took a few minutes to process everything. Both the car and the GPS we reserved were ready for us. The car was very clean, with full tank of gas ready to go. Car ran well, no problems at all driving through London or the highway outside the city. When you return, there's an Avis lot a few hundred feet down the road that you can park in, then just walk back up to the office and turn in your keys. I had heard horror stories about Hertz and some of the other big names, so I was pleased at how easy and painless it was to deal with Sixt.

In my experience, the cars are clean, new enough and reliable runners. This is also the first time that I am offered a hybrid from a main car rental agency. Thumbs up. Finally, I think I have rented 4 or 5 times from this location over the last 18 months. Service has been fast, really friendly, and although there sometimes seems to be a question with regard to availability of one books and pays through a third party, this car rental place works really well for me. Travelers : when we walk into a busy shop, if we are kind and friendly, my experience tells me we rarely gets bad service. It's not easy job working for a mega-corp like HERTZ. A smile makes everybody's day easier. Safe journeys, Anthony

At the airport, the agent said we accordingly have super coverage, which was a huge upcharge up to 2036.36 pounds. As I had travelled extensively in the states for work, I never double checked the rates during the pickup, as I paid what was already quoted. After travelling all night on a plane, we did not bother to look at the small print on the little form that I initialized. Why would we? It should have been as quoted. This is classic bait and switch which I never encountered when travelling in the states. Buyer beware! P.S. Hertz did not give us any correction later due to our initializing the agreement at the airport.

I could not find any petrol station nearby and had to return the car without refueling. This is for a car rented from Budget for 28 days…read more I received horrible customer service and a shoddy old car. 1) Did not get the car I reserved. The usual bait and switch game. They display a certain car on the website "or similar" and sure enough that "similar" car is of lower quality, smaller, bad all around. The car had 13k miles on it and had a bad manual gear switch. Not a car that would be rented out at any car rental company I ever rented from in the USA. I had constant problems trying to put it into reverse! 2) On top of that, I was given the car--rented for 28 days!--with a dirty exterior. When I inquired about it the customer service person told me "the washer is broken." The inside didn't look like it was cleaned either. Since the interior dash was covered with dust I don't trust that it was wiped down with sanitizer as Budget states as part of it's cleaning against COVID-19. I shall most likely never return to rent from Budget. Miserable, all-around terrible experience. The customer service woman, Vanessa, was shouting and interrupting me when I was returning the car and complained about its condition and that it was not the car I reserved.

ADVICE: TAKE TONS OF PHOTOS (EVERY ANGLE) AND VIDEO OF THE CAR YOU RENT!!! (You'll read several…read moreother reviews that give this advice based on their experience as well). If you don't document absolutely every possible piece of damage, no matter how small or insignificant, they will try to lay the damage on YOU. After arriving in the UK from the U.S on a 10 hour flight, we took an Enterprise shuttle from outside T-5 to the Heathrow Enterprise office and lot. We had pre-booked the car through a well known membership store. The branch was very busy, as you might well expect being at one of the world's busiest airports and it took us some time to get our car. One member of your party lines up in the small office while the other(s) stand outside. It's somewhat chaotic. A rep walked us over to the car and the three of us looked over it for damage, the rep explaining that damage had to be 'bigger than a golf ball' and showing us a circle cut-out on a piece of plastic for demonstration. One of us took a few photos, which later ultimately saved our bacon. When we dropped the car off at a different Enterprise location, (we had the car less than 24 hours) they walked around the car and claimed the black plastic that goes over the wheel well was 'popped out'. Looking at it, you could barely see it. It definitely wasn't something we'd noticed picking the car up, but if you stood at the right angle, you could see it was SLIGHTLY protruding. Long story short, the rep at the drop-off location filed a report. Fortunately, we had some photos, albeit, not the best angles. At this point, we were BOILING MAD since we'd had the car less than 24 hours and had NOTHING to do with the damage. We were about to spend a month on vacation on a cruise and in the UK. Over that month, we spent many hours (and wifi data) on communications between ourselves and Enterprise and our credit card insurance, trying to straighten out the situation. It really took a toll on our vacation enjoyment. Fortunately, after about 3 weeks and much mental anguish and aggravation, due to our photos and explanations, the claim was waived, really only due to the fact we had photo evidence. However, I'm sure some unfortunate future customer will have the same claim put on them. I would avoid renting from Enterprise as reading reviews, this seems to be a standard practice.

WATCH OUT FOR CHARGES ON TOLL FINES FROM ENTERPRISE/ALAMO!!…read more RENT A CAR WITH ANOTHER COMPANY! THIS IS A HORRIBLE WAY TO DO BUSINESS! I have been an Enterprise member since 2001. I have probably rented from them more than 50 times in the US and Europe. Car I picked up at Heathrow seemed great. All people I dealt with at Heathrow were great. However, huge problems with the Enterprise/Alamo department that deals with tolls. I'll try to make a long story short . . . About 3 days into rental I received an email that there was a recall on the car I had. They offered to come to me wherever I was to bring a replacement car. But I was already planning on going to Liverpool Airport to meet someone so I made arrangements to just take the car there the next morning and swap it out. I crossed the Mersey Bridge on my way to Liverpool Airport, didn't notice it was a toll bridge on the first crossing. After swapping cars and crossing the bridge again, I did notice the toll signs. While freeway tolls seem covered in the rental, for Mersey Bridge they are not. Merseyflow (tolling entity) does not make it easy to pay them. You can call them or go to an app, but that is difficult when driving. In this instance I called them, but was told that I could not pay the tolls because my crossing for either car was not yet "in their system" After my business trip I called Merseyflow back to resolve tolls. I pay them. However, in the interim, Enterprise received a Penalty Charge notices from Merseyflow. But they then wait TWO WEEKS to forward them to me, along with a notification that they are charging me £35. When I called and paid the tolls, Merseyflow they did not tell me that there were fines or request payment for them. And of course I did not have the notices about it. Enterprise then tells me that I must show that the tolls were paid before they can refund the £35 charges, so I forward them the payment receipts from Merseyflow. Now Enterprise fines department is telling me that they will not refund the £35 charges unless they are notified by Merseyflow that I do not have to pay the fines. The hypothetical fines that Merseyflow did not ask me to pay when I paid the toll and the fine that, if they exist at all, only exist because Enterprise waited two weeks to email the notice! I contacted Merseyflow and they will not provide any documentation beyond the paid receipts. I expect that some from Enterprise will post a response to all of this saying to contact them at https://www.enterprise.co.uk/en/help/contact.html. But it's all BS. I've been a member since 2001. They have my RA#. They know how to get ahold of me. They just want a reason to charge fees, and then they will continue to move the goalposts so they don't have to give my money back. BAD, WORSE & ROTTEN!!…read more This was probably my worst rental experience and I would like everyone to be warned about my experience with Alamo/Europcar/National car hire, which at London Heathrow is the same place. I arrived early in the morning from a long trip abroad and was promptly collected by the bus to be driven to the car rental company. On getting there the driver was kind enough to put my case on the sidewalk and told me to go inside and that my case would be safe where it was with many other cases. After standing in line for about 30 minutes, I went to check on my case and found it had been removed. Luckily a gentleman standing nearby noticed someone had loaded my case into a van. I rushed inside and after two hours they managed to identify the vehicle that we thought had taken my case. The lady at the car rental tried to contact them and left messages and sent texts. Luckily they returned the case the following day and I had to travel over 100 miles back to the rental company to retrieve my case. Besides this incident I must point out that there was around a two hour wait to collect your car even if my case was not taken. This two hour wait after a nine hour flight remains a lot to be desired. You would think this would be the end of my problems but when I returned the car after the rental period, the car was checked in and found to be perfect and I was told to go and get on the bus back to the airport. I asked for a receipt, but was told that they do not issue receipts but all was in order. When I returned back home, there was an account waiting for me for what they said was a shredded back tire. Having being in the motor business for 30 years I assure you it would be impossible for anyone to drive and not notice that a tire had been shredded or at the very least notice that there was no air in the tire. I disputed this with the credit card company and after a lot of hassle, they finally passed a credit. My advice is never use this car rental company, and always make sure you get a receipt that the vehicle was returned in good order!
