I had always though Enterprise was the standard bearer of the rental car industry, thus earning my loyalty as a customer. In the past, I have been impressed with the higher management that I came across in business settings. But todays horrible transaction has changed. I made a reservation for a standard SUV, I happened to give a courtesy call the Mason City office to tell them I would be 20-30 minutes later that I originally shared with receptionist. It was then I learned that they indeed had NO, not a single car available in Mason City. I suggested Waterloo, and was informed there was NOTHING available there either. WhY? NASCAR-- Enterprise decided to funnel their cars down to Des Moines. Now I have confirmation number..... what do I do?..... not their problem " we won't have bad blood" This customer (me) would have been ok with an explanation at the time of setting the reservation. But she said nothing- Had I not called them I would have driven over an hour to the location to learn this. THIS IS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. And honestly this obstacle inhibits me to attend my cousin's funeral. I ask " what good is a reservation? What good is a confirmation number? What can others DEPEND on? read more

We recently used this office to rent a van for a family vacation. I was driving the van a day early and it started having problems. I immediately reached out to the Mason City office and the lady was fabulous at helping me get a replacement van. She went above and beyond in my opinion. I'm sorry for not remembering her name. The van they gave me as a replacement was very nice , but we preferred the other model. I asked her if we could trade models and she once again went out of her way to help us have a great trip. Picked up a car here since the my other vehicle was in the shop getting some work done. Super fast service. Tim, who helped us out, was super friendly and helpful . We ended up with a brand new Mitsubishi. There was a $50 deposit for gas. If I brought the car back with the same amount of gas as it had when I picked it up...I'd get my refund back. No problem. Also, it's $10 extra a day for an extra person to drive the car, otherwise it's free for the first 2 drivers. read more

I had placed a reservation and the lady that called me to tell me that they might not have a car in time was rude to me. It was bad enough that they were calling me telling me I had to change my plans, but they to deal with a rude employee. I should have gotten a discount or something because they were inconveniencing me. Now had I kept the car longer, they sure would have charged for that. I think that the pricing was a bit high to have the car for one day, which was a week day. At least the two people that were in the office when I got there were professional and courteous (clearly not the lady that had called me earlier.) read more

My car broke down in Mason City while driving through Iowa and I needed a car fast to continue on. Enterprise was the only company we could rent from, therefore we had no other choice. I called in the reservation at 11 am on a Saturday, was told they closed at 12 sharp and needed to be there by then to get the car (already under a lot of stress with my car breaking down). We made it there with 5 minutes to spare, and of course there were no compact cars on the lot. I was told the price over the phone, and I said I only needed a 24 hour rental. Upon renting the car, the staff member also told me, it needed to be back 24 hours later, although they were closed on Sunday's to leave the car on the lot and the keys in their drop box. We finally got our car, and brought it back 24 hours later on Sunday. My car was not fixed yet, and I had to have my parents come pick me up (2 hour drive for them) because all enterprises were closed, and I didn't know if I could rent the car for another day. Upon receiving my statement the next day, I find out they charged me for 2 full days, due to them being closed on Sunday. Not ONE person mentioned that to me, I could have kept the car another day and saved everyone the hassle. Needless to say I refused to pay for that second day when I didn't have the car for more than 24 hours and was very upset that everyone failed to mention they were over charging me when I was told only a 24 hour rental period. read more
