All Man, The Entwined Lighted Festival is FIRE. You have to come check out the vibes and beauty here of the forest and lights. Its like a scene in a Fairy Tale. Its not far from the Golden Gate Bridge, but it is a joy to see and be around. I took plenty of photos that I will have our every chance I get. It was just a scene to see for me. Had the chance to visit this art installation during my work trip in San Francisco! It's a beautiful piece of art that captures the night and great for a walking date in Golden Gate Park. It's an installation that turns off at 9:30 pm until late April, 2024. It's near peacock meadows, so be careful if you're taking an Uber/Lyft there as Golden Gate Park as your intended destination will bring you to the other side, which is what I experienced! Entwined is located near Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park and is free. It's here to light up these dark winter nights and will continue through April 2024. It's a short walk away from the Conservatory of Flowers. This year there's a 30 foot "Elder Mother Tree" added to the display and while small, the exhibit is magical. There are some benches to sit and enjoy the changing colors and while crowded on a Saturday night, it didn't detract from the experience. It gave the whole thing a nice community feel. Stay awhile and enjoy the changing colors. It's quite unique and ethereal-beautiful public art display. read more

If you're into light shows and trippy evening activities check out this light installation in the meadow. It's literally chalk fool of spooky/eerie/beautiful multicolored lights planted in the garden and hanging from trees. It's voice sensitive so talking over the lights/playing music/ bass etc... causes the color change Simple and great for kids if you're ok this side of the Golden Gate Park. There's a few chairs throughout the park which allows you to sit and enjoy. It's coke - bring something warm to drink :-) read more

Extended through March 5th, 2022, Entwined Lighted Forest is a perfect example of something I adore: Free art that seemingly exits for no purpose other than your enjoyment. Located near Golden Gate Park's newish tennis complex, ELT is a place to visit after dark, when the light show activates. Situated in Peacock Meadow (with parking blocked off, probably to minimize the intrusion of light) nearby parking in the park is easy and free. The meadow here has been filled with "trees" and what-not, illuminated with a cornucopia of colors. Some of the displays feature QR codes which can be opened and accessed, one person at a time, to put the viewer in control of the light show for that particular installation. Though I appreciated this feature, I also found it rather unnecessary; just walking through and watching the ever-changing lights well-satisfied me. There's nothing deep going on here, just an enjoyable stroll around a meadow in the dark, viewing the eye-pleasing light show. I'm sure I'm the rule, not the exception, in saying that Entwined Light Forest brought a smile to my face. P.S. Although I took many photos (as you will), I am posting only one. It is a lot of fun to see light art during these long nights. Very interesting to have interactive displays that can be accessed with a smartphone. When placing a display in the middle of a bike path that is also used to commute, it would be great to dedicate a little more thought and planning to creating space for those who are just on their way home to not have to ride through a crowd of people. It does make sense to move the display from the meadow where it used to reside since a little rain flooded the area last winter but hopefully if they are going to place it in the intersection next year, they can incorporate some more traffic design or signal where families with kids can interact with the exhibit and where commuting cyclists can ride without fearing running over little ones. read more

Entwined Lighted Forest was a cool light display to stop by and see on a dark night! Entwined is located in Peacock Meadow nearby the tennis courts, and not too far from the Cal Academy of Sciences. It was COLD the night I stopped by in December, and it wasn't busy at 7:30pm on a Thursday night around the holidays. They close off access to this street, and there was limited street parking nearby; however, worth checking out if you haven't been and enjoy colorful lights. The "trees" change colors frequently, and the patterns were different for the entire 10 minutes+ that I was there. read more

Quick take: Great night stroll through GGP Fortunate enough to come out at the end of the night for a brisk walk. Clear skies, no wind, and it happens to be the last full moon of 2020. Entwined at Peacock Meadow by Charles Gadeken. Art installment celebrating GGP'S 150th anniversary. The installment is on a field within the vicinity of the Conservatory of Flowers. It's nice to see a little art since the pandemic shut all of our indoor activities down. I wouldn't travel just to see the installment. If you are close by then definitely stop by. ** The following review reflects my experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. ** Sculptural artist Charles Gadeken's art installation at Peacock Meadow will look familiar to anyone who saw his piece, SQUARED, a soaring abstract tree of pre-programmed LED lights that was placed in the middle of Patricia's Green in Hayes Valley a couple of years back. This time, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Golden Gate Park, Gadeken was commissioned to create an enchanted forest of similarly blinking LED lights consisting of a trio of canopy trees and several flowering bushes. They've been spread across the meadow to allow for ample social distancing. The overall effect is like living through a Sondheim musical ("Into the Woods", of course), quite enthralling at a time when there's precious little that we can visit without worry of infection. Because I fear taking public transportation these days, I walked well over an hour to come here and arrived in the late afternoon hoping I could survive the cold until dusk. I couldn't but it was still magical in the dimming daylight. It's scheduled to be in Peacock Meadow until the end of February, but there's already talk of extending it through June. 1/23/2021 Soooo Very cool to be able to stop by and enjoy this Entwined Lighted Forest pop up to celebrate Golden Gate Park's 150 Anniversary! My family likes to come hang out in the city to just be active (while social distancing) and stop to smell the roses, take in the views and just sight see. There's a bunch of places within the park that you're able to enjoy without a fee/ticket. If you happen to be in the city over the next few weeks (ends end of Feb) doing other things, make a trip out to come check it out OR just come (when it's not raining) to have a picnic, it's cool to just come hang out at Golden Gate to bike, skate, walk and enjoy each others company. Besides being cold and freezing at night. It's an okay exhibit to go out to check out and like other reviewers said, I wouldn't go out just for it. Dress warmly or you will get head cold if it's a windy night! It does take less than 15 minutes to see the exhibit in the 1 acre radius. I have traveled many places and seen many unique art. I do recommend the 7 mountains exhibit in Vegas if you are driving, just don't take an Uber like one crazy group of tourists did. One main point I notice people with families used this as a gathering place for socializing on this Friday night. But it is a nice exhibit that is unique for the Golden Gate Park 150th event. If you walk along the John F Kennedy drive there's a tent that sells park related merchandise and the Conservatory of Flowers is right next door as well. At first I thought how do real trees light up?! Then I went closer and said oh! They are mechanical trees with wires and metal that looks real. I wish there was description on the artist and explaining how the trees work. read more

Husband and I drove to SF during Shelter In Place from Fremont to see Entwined light artwork. We went Sun 2/21/21 because I heard it might end in Feb. Later I found out from artist it will be extended until April 4. 2021. We found street parking on Irving and 4th. We got takeout dinner at Lime Tree one of our favorite Singaporean spots. Ate dinner on the stadium benches near Golden Gate Park. We walked over to JFK Dr and Pompei Cir in the area called Peacock Meadow. We got there little before sunset and looked area, not a big area takes about 15 min to look around. Then we waited a little longer to get dark to take more pictures and videos. After walk over to the Conservatory of Flowers to see lights on the outside of that building. Artist Charles Gadeken told me this about his artwork: "It's about bringing a light to the darkness & providing a time & place for us to safely meet again." read more

This is a small but cool attraction in SF. Takes just about 15 minutes to soak it all in (but we stayed a bit longer during our visit). If you appreciate art, want to entertain kids, or trying to think of things to do on date night, it's worth checking out. I went on Valentines Day and to me it was worth the drive from the south bay to see these twinkling lights because my boyfriend and I were picking up some of our favorite foods that can only be found in SF, and we like finding low key ways to spend time together, so was a perfect addition to our plans. I don't think it's mesmerizing enough to consider it the main attraction of the day. But if you're just trying get out of the house (besides going to restaurants), it's one of the few "different" things to do/see in the bay area during COVID, and it's free. read more

This luminescent forest display is pretty neat, but honestly, it got way too crowded too enjoy properly. I went here before Christmas on a weekend and parking was nasty in Golden Gate Park. Getting out was even worse. This is a flashy display, so I could understand why so many people want to get out and appreciate this sight. These are trees I'd expect at EDM festival. All in all, thanks to the organizers and artists who put this together. It is something special to see, straight out of Avatar. Tip: most definitely go during weekdays and not weekends. Enjoyed Easter Evening with this free event by Entwined Lighted Forest in the Peacock Meadow Park of Golden Gate Park. I'm so glad they extended this event until this evening bc it was worth the drive just to enjoy. What made this small event fun and festive was the QR code's on the small bushes which allow you to interact with the lights & flickering modes of the lights. Despite it being a little chilly at 52 F & my fingers getting numb from the wind, it was worth it to see all the amazing colors light up the night. I hope they continue to offer this to the community & if so I'll be back next year. read more

I decided to visit here recently over the weekend during sunset. I thought it would be a great idea to come right before sunset or the "golden hour" because then I can take pictures of it BEFORE and also AFTER it gets fully dark outside. When I went here, there was a lot of people so it was difficult to social distance, but I'm glad they at least had a sign near the front to remind us! Before I went here, I thought it would be very big. It was actually a lot smaller than I thought! I was fine with that since this art installation is free to look at and it was nice seeing the lights change colors. Eventually, the lights stopped changing colors and stayed red as it was getting closer to 8pm. I'd recommend this place ONLY if you live nearby. I wouldn't make a trip or long drive just to see this unless you're already visiting this city. It was very small and you could probably SLOWLY finish viewing this area within 30 minutes, but I still had fun and spent a lot of time here to take pictures. read more

This was pretty cool! Field of lights on little bushels that were about 5ft tall and spread about Peacock Meadow with a variety of light up trees in between. The lights turn off every so often, then light up with different colors from 4pm-8pm daily. Best thing would be to find residential street parking on 2nd Ave or Arguello off Fulton, so you can walk in through the Arguello entrance. It's not too bad of a walk at all, about 10 mins or so. We had our 3 year old with us and didn't need a stroller. Since we went on a night where it was misty, it definitely felt all whimsical and whatnot. (If you go on a misty night too, wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy)a We tried to be there before sunset to "get a good spot", but that seemed to be everyone's idea. As soon as the sunset happened, sooo many people showed up and it was really overwhelming to see. We ended up leaving before it was actually dark dark, but the pictures still came out ok! I'm docking a star because there wasn't anyone patrolling making sure people had masks and stayed social distanced, which would have made the experience better for me. I read on the GGP website that they would have someone patrolling the area on the weekends, so I was expecting that since we went on Saturday night. Overall, I'd def recommend to see it. Nice touch to end the holiday break with the kiddos! read more

I love checking out art installations and Bay Area artist, Charles Gadeken, created Entwined, a 2,000 LED enchanted forest in Golden Gate Park to mark the 150th anniversary of the Park. It's located at Peacock Meadow, which is in between the Rec and Park Dept office and the Conservatory of Flowers. The exhibit is currently scheduled to run from Dec 10th to Feb 28th. Visitors can stroll through the meadow where there are three trees and bushels of lights. The light patterns change to various colors and combination of colors, which are meant to evoke different sounds and sights found in nature such as raindrops on the pavement, lighting and thunderstorms, wind blowing tall grass and flowers, and ripples on a pond. We came on a Sunday evening and there were a lot of people at the Exhibit. The section leading into the Exhibit and the middle of Exhibit was the most crowded. There was a sign at the front reminding visitors about social distancing. From what I saw, people had their masks on. To avoid the crowds, we moved to the area on the right which was far less crowded. It is a nice LED light exhibit addition to the Park. I think one thing missing from the Exhibit was music or sounds, which would have created a better vibe to it. Probably coming on a weekday would be less crowded too. read more

This was a fun albeit very low key option for date night. My partner and I packed a little picnic to enjoy while we watched the lights change at Entwined, which was quite nice. Unfortunately, there were WAY too many people to feel super comfortable. We were able to find a little spot across from the main attraction to set out our blanket and chill, but I really wish there was someone enforcing social distancing, mask wearing and capacity. The lights turn off every 15 minutes as an attempt to make folks who've been there for a while give others a turn, but I don't think anyone is really paying attention to that or cares, lol. It's definitely a bit of a free for all. I would recommend seeing Entwined if you're already going to be in the city / around the park, as something to see on your way out after the sun sets. As an attraction in and of itself, it's pretty small and doesn't really warrant a stay longer than maybe 15-30 minutes or so. You can definitely make it more of a worthy stop if you pack some drinks and a blanket so you can sit down and watch from afar. It is always nice to have new art installations popping up! read more

With covid stay at home orders and not much to do- this is exciting but for pre-covid times this is not exciting. The exhibit is very small but free. It is ridiculously crowded and people are just having picnics in the dark because there's nothing else to do. Not really worth the drive up but it was nice to be outside. read more

A fun lighted garden with "foliage" of varying sizes to towering trees! They have included this year the ability to scan a QR code and you can play with brightness, color and speed or the "plant" you scanned. There was also been various GGP events in this peacock meadow for the month of December 2022. Don't forget that nearby is the Conservatory of Flowers that has their own light display on the iconic building that runs for 10 minutes. read more

We celebrated Christmas Eve driving around San Francisco enjoying an the "fixed" and season light displays including the Entwined Lighted Forest. The light display was spectacular the really worth the effort to watch. The beautiful changes in the display lighting even mesmerized this color blind person! The constantly changing "trees" color was very cool despite the effort to be "socially distanced" from other on lookers trying to capture the prefect shots with their cameras. Only "negative" was access to Golden Gate Park to see the incredible display. We arrived around 7:30 pm and the park was totally packed with few parking available. I finally gave up and parked after trying several entrances. Signage was non-existent, but obviously we and a few thousand folks discovered the worthwhile lighting. Equally interesting with the light display on the Conservatory of Flowers with projected abstract symbols and seasonal favorites. Well worth the distraction for the family to grab your mask, keep 6 feet apart and enjoy the show! read more

Although the exhibit is small, I absolutely loved sitting and taking it all in! The lights are constantly changing, so you never get board seeing the combinations. Would definitely go at night to get the full effect! It's a great free attraction to get out of the house to check out. Recommend coming here around 4:30 to avoid hassle for parking since it gets tough around 7-closing. Heads up! GPS will route you to the park even though they closed off the road. You'll see parking available right next to a giant tree in front of a building. First attempt: Because of so many people gathered at the installation they closed down early which was a bummer-- but because of the pandemic it was understandable. We got lucky our second time with both parking and seeing the lights. Honestly it was hard to enjoy the lights and take pictures only because a lot of people were gathered and not following social distancing protocols.. we stayed a good 8 minutes. I wouldn't say it would be worth it going out of your way to see this installation if you are far from SF. But if you are a local definitely check it out! read more

Enjoyed the lighted trees at the beginning of Golden gate park earlier this year. It was a beautiful decoration with some colors that frequently changed colors. Parking is tricky, but we stopped at the lodge nearby when someone else moved their car. Would recommend this as a good family outing before venturing deep into Golden gate park and the conservatory of flowers as well as the museums there. read more
