I don't know how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars; if I could give it 6, I would…read more First: the food is absolutely delightful. There are tons of options, including many vegetarian ones, and I have yet to try a dish that wasn't beautifully made, with balanced, light flavors. There are lots of beans, lentils, vegetables, yogurt-based sauces, olives, cheeses, stews, bread, tea, three or four variety of starchs--rice, couscous, bulgur, etc-, burek, fried stuff, baked stuff, boiled stuff.... Sometimes, if I need to eat one meal in a day, I'll go here. Second: the people that work here come from various places--Turkey, Lebanon, Germany, Cuba...ALL of them (that I've met) are friendly, generous, and welcoming (and patient as I point at the different foods to pile my plate with!). The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome: a clean, simple yet warm vibe, classical music playing, and a back room where you can look onto the back yard. Third: you are getting ALL of this for either 7 or 9 Euro. I come from NYC, where one can easily--and in fact often does--pay twice that amount for food half as good. SUPPORT places like this, that offer lovingly made, healthy, delicious food for good prices....this is my favorite restaurant BY FAR in the neighborhood, and there are many other good ones here. I've brought about 4 friends here and all of them have been blown away...one even told me the next day, "dude, I can't stop thinking about that restaurant!".

I was quite amazed at how much food could fit on one plate! The service was amazing & such heart-felt. I would recommend this place to anyone! Although bear in mind there is not a whole lot of space to sit.

So, it was a beautiful early fall Saturday in Berlin, and after a long day of study related…read morecomputer time I needed to get out and enjoy the city and have a nice dinner. I wandered down to the picturesque Winterfeldt Platz and decided to try out Manzini. Nice coner location, wide menu with English translations lots of outdoor seating. Luckily I was in no hurry... if I had been, my day would have sucked. I ordered the lasagna and a drink. The drink and a basket of bread showed up in good time, and I began to nibble on the bread and read my journal articles. I nibbled some more and eventually realized I was the only one sitting there... seems they lost my order or decided to make fresh pasta at some point - it was well over an hour before my lasagna showed up. Wow. The good news was, I was in leisure mode and the lasagna was delicious... and the portion was huge. Two could easily share. Piles of fresh pasta, rich veal sauce and a pile of fresh herbs and cheese on top. Yum. I decided I wanted a glass of house red - but honestly that was slow too. And then a bee landed in my glass and I had to have the waiter take it off to remove the bee... and he stopped off to take another order on the way. Seriously? Dude - pull the bee outta my wine and get that order after you bring it back - I'm trying to eat my dinner. If the service had been better, I could have given them 4 stars - but even discounting for the fact that I was in no hurry at all - this was glacial at best. The food was really good - the service was not in the same league.

I am not quite sure what the difference between homey Turkish food and what is not. I am going to…read moreassume homey entails more focus on the food and ingredients rather than the presentation and other things. One glance at this place and it certainly looks homey if not rather like a one pot, buffet, fast food kind of style. There was counter full of prepared food in the back and you can pick and choose your meal from thy selection. No there's nothing created here a la minute but the price kind of reflects that. While I can't comment on the authenticity of the food, I can say without a doubt it is tasty...for the most part. Everything does indeed taste "homey" as every dish is sort of a mis-mash of different vegetables and meats in a consistent sauce. By that I mean most of the dishes have similar sauces a tastes quite similar despite it having different ingredients. The rice is a nicely prepared with fantastic texture and just the right amount of squeakiness to them all the while still soft and pillowy. The chicken is sightly dry but very nicely compensated with the great sauce that it's bathed in. Sadly this meal wasn't quite as memorable as I had hope for. Unlike the Turkish cuisines I have had in the past there wasn't one or more dishes I would recommend of you must order. Everything tastes good -- like a every day good kind of meal mom used to prepare.

Finish with some tea.
