After travel around the city all day, my friend and I wanted to have Japanese food, so we chose Enzo Sushi to be our spot to eat. They have vegetarian option, so we were happy about it. Fish was good as regular standard. Wine was okay. Service was fine even not perfect, but we can communicate in English. This is a very Non traditional place. So if you want westernized tempura-teriyaki-80% off the menu has everything fried-this is your place. The take-home: Service is agonizingly slow. We waited over an hour for our meal. The sushi: Bland, tasteless fish. Too much rice to fish ratio for my preference. White Sangria: Very good, went down easily. We had asked for red so there was a slight mishap in that we thought we were served just juice but it was quickly rectified. We kept the White Sangria, the waiter felt pretty bad about it and offered to switch it out but it was totally fine. The space is super nice and trendy, but I wouldn't come here again. read more

We went here on New Years Eve. I wasn't expecting to be able to get in but they told us to come right over. We were seated right away. Our waiter greeted us promptly and explained how to order off the sushi sheets. He also explained given the holiday and the emphasis on special menu items, a la carte sushi would take longer and wanted to make sure we were ok with that. We were and thanked him for properly setting expectations. We never felt like service was slow as others have commented. Our green tea pots were refilled as we needed them. We found the sushi to be tasty and reasonably priced (but we live in Chicago so perhaps we're conditioned to higher prices). We thought about ordering more but after chatting with our waiter and understanding it would take about 30 minutes to get, we had some dessert & coffee instead. read more

I am from Quebec city.... now i live in Montreal. I've tried most of the higher end sushi places and nothing compares to Enzo. A close second in montreal would be Sho-Dan..... but all their sushi has tuna in it which gets to be a lot when you're at your 4th roll. Also, Enzo is about 4$ less per roll. Can I just say......AMAZING. I go there every time I'm in quebec. Their specialty sushi is not on the menu, to get it you must take the 5 course chefs menu to try try them. But after going a few time you get to know the specials and you don't have to take the "menu de degustation". Im going to spoil the secret and let you know my favourites (I don't know if the spelling is right). 1st is the Geisha..... a tuna, soy paper roll with a basil sauce..... OMG insane..... 2nd- Rose- spicy soy paper roll with mango. Don't know much about it but well worth it 3rd- Rioux- roll with a sea urchin sauce. 4th-Shogun- Shrimp tempura roll with a ginger sauce. caution: sauce tastes a lot like ginger.... if you don't like it stay away 5th- Sakura- A nice roll with a teriyaki sauce. kinda sweet *Whats special about these rolls is that they are served lukewarm, not the traditional cold..... very yummy. * if you do order the 5 course menu, ask to change the last roll. its usually the Enzo roll. Its deep fried and doesn't taste very good. Just let them know when you're ordering and they'll be happy to do it. Another of my favourites is on the menu; the volcano its a sweet potato fried in tempura with a topping of crab stick, cilantro, scallops and a whole bunch of goodness. Must try! Enzo Sushi is truly a find! A little off the beaten path, about a kilometer from the more touristic Old Quebec, is a nice, modern but cozy little sushi restaurant worth the visit. My son and I started off with the miso soup and a small pitcher of heated sake. The miso was very good; substantial broth with a generous portion of cubed tofu and liberally sprinkled with scallions. Great start to our meal. Our appetizer was Enzo's signature volcano. A freshly fried sweet potato base heaped with crab meat perfectly flavored with sesame and cilantro and (I think) red caviar. Two apiece and wishing there was one more! But we should be careful as the main course is yet to arrive. The chef's selection of sushi and sashimi is a generous and nicely arranged platter of tuna, white fish, salmon and California, Philadelphia and shrimp tempura rolls. The fish is delicious and fresh. The salmon especially nice as it is the perfect thickness for the relatively rich fish it is. The pickled ginger is worth mentioning. It was very robust in flavor and texture. Not like some of the more anemic varieties you might otherwise try. The price was absolutely correct making Enzo Sushi a 'must visit' for sushi lovers who make their way to Old Quebec! read more

We ordered the sushi "Special Pour 2", the "Combo du Chef Nambu", and every single role was either deep fried or prominently featured a deep fried center. The rolls didn't taste good, they sadly just tasted like fried food. The few pieces of nigiri and sashimi in the combo were just okay. The tuna for the tuna nigiri is some of the worst I've ever had--tasteless and poor texture. Service was very slow. Not paced like "continental dining". Slow. If you're the kind of person who avoids deep fried rolls, "spicy mayo", and "spicy salmon", Enzo Sushi is not for you. It's clear that this place is more of a tempura joint. Disclaimer: we lived in Vancouver for many years and enjoyed super fresh, super authentic, and super inexpensive sushi there. We are still trying to find something in Québec that does not disappoint us. This is not it. I was craving proper sushi. Both of us ordered the dinners with sushi, which included a soup, salad, tempura, and sushi and/or sashimi. The soup was unremarkable, but OK. We found an elastic band in my salad. The sauce with the tempura was not tempura sauce but rather just soy sauce, and some of the vegetables were a bit under cooked. We then waited just less than an hour for the sushi to arrive. It was not a lot when it finally came. However, my partner had to spit out a tuna sushi soon after because it tasted really awful. My similar piece smelled off. We told the waitress, who was good, and they brought more pieces of other sushi. However, it really killed our appetite. For $35 and $40, we expected more, and we have never had an off piece of sushi at a restaurant before. Ambiance was nice, but the food needs to be a lot better for this price. read more

Probably one of the most underrated sushi spot. I've lived in Montreal, Toronto and New York and I'm a sushi lover so I know sushi and I've had sushi everywhere I've lived. Enzo is truly unique. Our experience at Enzo got off to a rocky start (and had a disappointing ending) but what happened in the middle was quite lovely. Overall a very confusing experience, but I'll try to make heads or tails of it for you, and perhaps you will give them a shot. First, their kitchen closes at 9pm. When we called to make a reservation, we did not know this, and were met with a rather hostile response when we attempted to book a table. So hostile, in fact, that my husband gave up and hung up the phone. It may have ended there, but I was determined to treat him to some sushi and a reliable source told me this was the best to be had, so I called back and spoke to a different person who happily helped me make a reservation for their latest possible booking - 8pm. Upon arrival, we ordered hot sake and a five-sourse tasting menu. The waiter described it to us, explaining that their sushi is not served with soy sauce but rather different sauces that would compliment the different hand rolls. We started with a delectable duo of hot appetizers - giant shrimp on skewers with a mushroom and port sauce, and scallops that were sent straight from heaven. The next course was a hand roll served with a sesame sauce, featuring tuna and tempura and it totally blew our minds. It goes prety downhill from there. The third course was a fruity hand roll, served with a miso-scallion sauce, that missed the mark. It was quite sweet, and that sweetness overpowered any other flavours that may (not) have been present. The fourth course was fine, though forgettable, but the fifth was just awful. The fifth and final course was a handroll with crab, salmon, and asparagus - a rather chewy combination, though that may not have mattered so much if it hadn't been for the sauce. Here, we welcomed back the sauce we had so enjoyed in the first course: the musroom-port reduction that had been married so beautifully to the giant shrimp. Unfortunately, the flavour completely overpowered the delicate fish and asparagus in the hand roll and left us to judge it based on the aforementioned chewy texture. For the first time in my life, I saw my husband refuse to continue eating. We each tried a piece, choked it down with sake, and left the rest on the plate. We waited nearly ten minutes for the waiter to return (perhaps he thought we were simply taking our time) and explained the issue to him. Rather than apologizing or offering us something else, he agreed with us, explaining that this dish is a hit-or-miss. Apparently there is a 50-50 split and customers either love or hate this dish. Bizarre, then, that the restaurant would choose to serve such a dish as the grand finale to their tasting menu... Perhaps even more bizarre than the decision to repeat a sauce during a tasting menu. Final judgment: some of the food was great, some of the service was great, but this place has quite a bit of growing up to do. read more

Great sushi around Quebec City! Our waiter is friendly and funny. The atmosphere was upbeat and open. The maki sushi rolls were so good---highly recommend the Montreal one. The 4-course meal was fine; they did some innovations in their dishes. The only cons I found is the waiting time: it took over 20 min for the appetizer, and over an hour for the main dish!
