One of my favorite dining experiences of all time! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wonderful food and wine pairing in a lovely, historic restaurant overlooking the St Lawrence River.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was fantastic and really made our experience special. The meal was well paced, and as beautiful as it was delicious. I loved every moment and hope to be back again. Thank you!!!

Dessert made from squash was so good!

When we booked our trip to Quebec trip, we made sure to make reservations at Champlain restaurant immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant inside the beautiful Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac hotel is a must stop for fine dining. Everything here is pure elegance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waiter, Mark, was fantastic. We had the food and wine pairing and his knowledge was very impressive. From the bread and crackers to start the meal to all the different dishes, we loved it. The halibut had a nice crust on top which was so good. I had the venison, but my wife switched that for the Wagyu steak. That steak was definitely the star of the meal. Even our dessert made from squash was unbelievable. The glass of wine with each course made for a perfect meal. One couple we were with ordered the cheese platter and went to a separate room to select the cheeses. Amazing! Our waiter detailed that the chef was trained in Copenhagen and previously was a chef at a top restaurant in Toronto. Dining here comes with a hefty price tag, but it's really an all evening experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were there for 3.5 hours and enjoyed every minute of it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My wife and I decided to come here for one nie meal to splurge while staying at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was perfectly located right on the terrace and the service was top notch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We shared the four course regular and vegetarian discovery experience with wine pairing and it was well worth it. Initially I requested the six course for vegetarian and the four for meat to avoid pork, but our waiter misheard and graciously gave us the one other dish we wanted which was the kombucha and fruit dish. We look forward to hopefully returning!

Le Champlain Restaurant - Fairmont Château Frontenac The food and service both were excellent. The wait staff members (including Marc-Andre) were attentive without being intrusive, and the prix fixe tasting menu was outstanding - particularly the elk (and my wife loved the asparagus). Chef Gabriel Molleur-Langevin is to be commended for his wonderful menu (and the pastry chef deserves special praise!) [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary, and I cannot imagine a more eloquent setting, with a spectacular view of the St. Lawrence River.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Merci!

What a beautiful restaurant. Service was very good here. We were greeted with a glass of champagne upon our arrival. Someone, trying to assist our server, brought over a meal which included a dietary restriction. Our server was right on top of it to make sure it didn't reach our table and accidentally eaten. We were grateful for the quick intervention and that they were so diligent about meeting dietary needs. The food was tasty. We especially enjoyed the maple dessert.

Beautiful space. Amazing service. The waiter did a great job engaging our hard to please 6-year-old. They also had nice touches like champagne when you are being seated (juice for the little one) and generally high class service feel. I felt like old British royalty for a minute. Food was good. My favorite was the starter. Beautiful salmon dish. The other dishes were good but can't say they were memorable. My husband ordered a drink with smoked Mazcal and they actually burned a piece of wood in front of us that created cool smoke over the drink. Definitely can't get smokier than that. The location is beautiful. It's a historic chateau in the old part of Quebec. It's beautiful and elegant. Taking a few steps down from the restaurant will lead into a historical museum that depicts the history of the city and French Canada in general. If you can, see if you could eat outside for dinner and you will be able to marvel onto city vistas of the water and a backdrop of sunset. do it for the experience of nothing else...

It was an amazing experience. Something I do suggest to everyone to try. Yes it will be expensive maybe but still something to try in your vacation. The ambiance is amazing, elegant and old. Seems to be inside a museum. The service for the time you arrive to the time you leave is perfect. Any request they will always try to accommodate if possible. The dishes are explained extremely well and the wine pairing was amazing. Only one thing is that the amount wine is very low and I think for the price they should give more. Going to the food. The chef is a magician. Every dish is well cooked, cleaned, and you can literally feel every ingredient in that dish. From the appetizers down to the cake is like having a trip, all of this inside a castle.

What an amazing meal. We were greeted with champagne upon arrival and waitress was so nice and patient. The room we sat in was beautiful. We settled on the 4 course meal with an appetizer of foie gras. The food was delicious and worth the price. Great cocktails as well.

    Presentation and atmosphere perfect.

Absolutely amazing. The chef was brilliant. He came out and took care of us himself, explaining the cheese selection, taking our young budding chef in the group back for a tour of the kitchen. The food was incredible!!! Every course surpassed the last. Slow dining. Our delicious experience lasted a little over 3 hours. Beautiful, exquisite, light, tasty, filling. The service was amazing. Really friendly to English speakers, menu accommodating and servers genuine. Really felt that they wanted us to have a great evening, which we did. Restaurant has a gorgeous view from the front of the hotel overlooking the lake. Stunning. Very classy. We were a small family but there were several couples enjoying the romantic ambience.

This is a tough one. Dinner for two and we were seated in The Library. We had a beautiful table overlooking the square, loved it. Tasting Menu was the only option, not sure if it is this way all the time. Service was super fast at the start of the meal, too fast. Courses were arriving almost as fast as we finished the course we were eating. We worried our six course dinner would be completed in less than an hour- which would not be good at these prices. Then, the dining room started to fill up and service went to a full stop. We sat. And sat. And then a bread course arrived (between course 4 and 5) it was odd. And we sat. More than an hour later was saw course 5 of 6. Food was inconsistent. Some courses were good, some meh and final main course, quail, was excellent. Dessert was mixed, it looked beautiful and tasted good but also much like it had been prepped some time ago. Also odd, we received our dessert and almost immediately thereafter we were served a couple of macaroons on a plate. The kind of thing you might receive after paying the bill. Those were also meh. So all in all, atmosphere was a 4, food a 2 and service a 2. Maybe a bad night but won't likely return.

We got reservations at this restaurant since we were hotel guests at the beautiful Chateau Frontenac. The restaurant is quite modern despite being inside a castle. There isn't a dress code enforced and the staff was really nice and friendly. The price is hefty and the food isn't a lot so our bill ended up being $500 for 4 people and we only had 2 drinks. We had the 5-course meal, the beef, the duck breast (which was delicious) and the pasta. The food came out slow, especially because we had to wait for our friend who had the 5-course meal (which came with 3 appetizers). In total we probably spent 3 hours there (we got there at 7:45 PM) and the restaurant was freezing because their AC was cranked up high. Overall good experience and great location. Food was delicious and expensive but worth a try if just for the experience. Their a la carte food is good but next time I'll probably try their 5 course meal. It comes with 3 appetizers, the main course and the dessert.

With the dynamic trio of Philippe Racine, Philippe Fournier, and Andréa Beauseigle at the helm, this newly minted bistro is not just a meal; it's an experience that speaks to the heart of local gastronomy. As we stepped into the inviting atmosphere of Bistro St. Malo, we were immediately struck by the relaxed ambience that feels both chic and comforting. The decor is a perfect marriage of rustic elegance and modern flair, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. The menu, crafted with both passion and precision, beckoned us to explore a variety of tempting dishes. We kicked off our culinary journey with the Mussels Marinière, bathed in a heavenly concoction of wine and garlic. Each bite was a succulent reminder of the sea, perfectly paired with crusty bread that could easily become a new best friend. Next on the list was the Soupe à l'Oignon, a classic French onion soup that was nothing short of a warm hug in a bowl. The rich broth, adorned with a gooey layer of melted cheese, transported us straight to a cozy Parisian bistro. Now, if you think escargots are just a fancy way to say "snails," think again. The Escargots Gratinés at Bistro St. Malo are a revelation, baked to perfection with a garlicky herb butter that made us rethink our long-held beliefs about these little treasures. For the main event, we indulged in the Joue de Bœuf sauce Robert, a sous-vide masterpiece that had been lovingly cooked for 30 hours. The beef cheek was so tender it practically melted on the fork, paired with a creamy potato purée and vegetables roasted in duck fat--a dish that could make even the most steadfast vegetarian reconsider their choices. We couldn't resist diving into the Ragoût de la Mer, a seafood stew that was a celebration of the ocean's bounty. With scallops, shrimp, lobster, cod, tuna, and salmon mingling in a rich bisque, this dish was a symphony of flavors that sang the praises of the fresh local products so central to the bistro's philosophy. Bistro St. Malo is more than just a meal; it's a culinary journey that pays homage to both French tradition and the vibrant tastes of the Mediterranean. If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Quebec City, do yourself a favor and make your way to 75 St-Paul Street. You might just discover your new favorite dining spot.

Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Québec City.

Reservations is highly recommended/required. The atmosphere is very cozy with wood themes and very private. We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. Again this is a solid restaurant and despite being 'fancy' had a very unpretentious vibe about it, which I appreciated. But the price feels a bit high, and the service was quite slow. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.

Le Saint-Armour is the epitome of an old-money established restaurant. They have their tasting menu…read more($150pp in July 2025) and a curated A la carte menu (appies ranging $29-39 and mains $56-72). Don't forget to save room for their desserts though because they were so thoughtful and artistically crafted!! Walking in, you go through a modern dining room and foyer. Then you enter their glass ceiling green house room where it's an eclectic but classy collection of plants, art, and decor. Their WINE MENU was an insane list & came as a book that was 50+ pages long!! Along with a bottle of wine, lovely complimentary bread & butter & amuse bouche....here's what we ordered: THE FOIE GRAS EXPERIENCE (5/5) - so fun getting to mix and match all 5 forms of foie gras. The most mind blowing one HAS to be the brûléed/caramelized foie gras in the little dish. Smokey, rich and savoury! LOBSTER BISQUE (5/5) - love the large chunk of fresh lobster. I enjoyed that it's not mashed up with everything and I get to enjoy the textures and flavour pairing. Jean-Luc Boulay Signature dish: Squab from Turlo's farm (5/5) - so many things to rave about with the dish. You simply MUST try this, truly a signature dish. EVERYTHING was amazing, and that stuffed mushroom took it to the next level for me. RACK OF LAMB (5/5) - beautiful cut of lamb (not fatty like how most other restaurants are). It's also presented/deconstructed so nicely for ease of eating! The Cannelé (5/5) - DREAMY dessert. It took me by surprise with the caramelized crispy cross-sectioned Cannelé sandwiched with rum mousse and ice cream. The Imperial (4/5) - great praline dessert
