I called a podiatrist office near my home. I told the assistant who answered the phone, that I had delayed the appointment as long as I could because I feared the painful procedure that I imagined. The assistant said, "oh it won't hurt, the doctor is really good looking"! In addition to the in-grown toe nails, back in June, I sprained my ankle just 4 days before my 10 day, 332 mile ultra-marathon. 55 miles into the race, it forced me to quit. Nearly 6 months later my ankle still hurts. Shocking since it really seemed like a minor strain that really wasn't a big attention getter in the first place. Just two weeks ago, I wasn't able to stand on it at all! A cortisone injection to the ankle will hopefully allow me to heal that ankle fully! Appointment with the podiatrist for both issues was today. Yes, the doctor was good-looking, AND yes there was still pain involved. Thank gawd for lidocaine! (Although the injection was tough). Right toenail, wedge/angle cut and instant relief! Left toenail, lidocaine, the toenail cut from top to bottom (at angle) and pulled out all the way! Ouch!! He literally wrestled it out! Then he stuck an acid dipped cotton stick in the cavity...which was bleeding heavily, to burn the root out! Several times! It was so gross! So how did I get the in-grown toenails? I always blamed the people who do my pedicures. They're always messing around in the corner of my toes. It turns out, it's my own fault. Before I would go for my pedicure, I would always cut my toenails as short as I could get them. I know the pedicurist won't cut them short and with all the running/walking that I do, I'm always losing toenails cause they weren't short enough, or so I thought. It's really that I needed a full sized bigger in my running shoes and not a half size bigger that I had been using. Lesson One: In cutting them too short, and the way the shoes press in on the toe, they would only grown inward and not up/out. Lesson Two: Shoe size is critical. Lesson Three: By delaying my visit to the podiatrist, I made the situation worse. Now once this throbbing goes away, I hope my feet and ankle will be normal again! Dr. Ali was fantastic! Go see him if you need a good foot doctor! I won't be so afraid next time! He was incredibly kind and made sure that I was as comfortable as could get in a not so great situation.

I can not explain how excellent Dr Ali is. He gave me his personal number after two surgeries. He…read moreoffered to come to my home during the Christmas break. You need to make him your foot Dr. PERIOD.

My husband, a diabetic, was already under Dr. El-Khalil's care when he experienced a fractured toe, which lead to a serious health scare. This doctor basically saved my husband's life. He does not sugarcoat facts. He is passionate about his profession and explained in zero uncertain terms the seriousness and the risks involving my husband's fracture. Thankfully, he got through, and my husband followed the doctor's orders to a tee with beautiful results. Dr.. El-Khalil examined my ankle and surprised me by explaining the possible risks that go with surgery, and instead of jumping in, he advised that I try several things prior to an operation. I purchased different shoes, heel cups, and a special ankle brace that he recommended. A Cortizone shot hasn't been necessary for me. the alternative methods are working for pain management and are encouraged are before resorting to shots or surgery. If abiding by the doctor's orders is too difficult a task, don't waste Dr. El-Khalil's valuable time with an appointment. His opinions, knowledge, and bedside manner are all of the highest quality.

    1) Front desk Lady and guy have zero personalities! Not welcoming at all. No "Hello", "how are…read moreyou"... Only.. "I need to collect your copay!" 2) I have had 4 visits for Athletes foot(pinky toe). Each visits co-pay for me was $20. Each visit the recommendation was to soak and use iodine.... Well now weeks after doing that I can barely walk normal, I have sever pain that comes from that toe and around it... went today for an Emg appt and was told nothing can be done but to soak... needless to say I was very disappointed! I asked about a Rx/fungus to perhaps help, as my son had the same thing and went to Westland Foot and Ankle and received a anti fungal Rx and his case cleared up in 1-2wks... Dr.says "well go there" I'm only telling you how the "book" says to resolve athletes foot".. I knew then I needed to RUN out this Shady Place!!!
