My feet always have some issues since I play soccer all year round. Well, I broke two of my toes…read moreduring a game and spent a few hours in ER (a waste of time). They suggested I see a podiatrist the next week for a follow up exam to see if things were okay. I lived nearby and went here since I got an appointment scheduled immediately. My main reason for going was to get a doctor's note to get out of work since my job required me to stand all day, and my foot was killing me. My work was very strict on this. I knew my toe would heel and be fine within a few weeks. I met with the impersonal and unfriendly doctor, who seemed like he was in a hurry to go on lunch or something. He looked at my grotesquely swollen and discolored big toe and massaged it briefly, asking with every movement, "Does this hurt? Mm-hmm. Does this hurt? Ahh." My responses were repeatedly yes. I couldn't move my toe at all, and the pain ran up my whole foot constantly. I wasn't given a prescription for any painkillers, as I requested, nor was I given any note saying I could take any time off work. I just wanted a few days off of work so I could stay off my feet. He said, "If you can get your shoe on, walk around on it a little bit, and you should be fine." He gave me a note that said, "OK to return to work." I was pissed. He even suggested I come in for a follow up 'operation' since the impact that broke my toes also dislodged my big toe nail and would need to be partially shaved off. I inquired how much that would cost since I had no insurance, and the procedure was $365. I declined that option, even though it took almost six months for the toenail to return to normal form (it didn't hurt after a few weeks though). He offered absolutely no suggestions or helpful advice. I paid $65 for the 3-minute doctor visit, and I went to work for 10 hours the next day on my feet in excruciating pain.

Stepped out of the shower and experienced unbearable pain on the ball of my foot as if stepping on…read morea rock. I did some research on the internet and found Dr Farah who had received quite a few positive testimonials from patients. I had an appointment with him two days later and found him to be pleasant, congenial, patient, and informative. He tentatively diagnosed the painful problem and recommended treatment alternatives. He also recommended a shoe orthotic to relieve the pressure and I was pleasantly surprised that the cost of the two I purchased at the office was far less than I expected and well within the price range of those bought in stores such as Dick's etc. Two weeks later I needed a follow-up for issues with my other foot and the orthotic though Dr Farah was not available. Instead, I saw his associate Dr Purtuc. Well, everything I said about Dr Farah applies to this young man as well. However, I indicated to him that I had initially searched for a sports medicine podiatrist to treat my foot problem and that none were available in the Downriver area. As we discussed my concerns I discovered that Dr Purtuc is a runner and has considerable information for sports-related injuries. He made suggestions, altered my shoe laces to relieve pressure, demonstrated stretching exercises for Achilles, heel, plantar area and adjusted the orthotic. He was patient, answered all my questions and provided a feeling of confidence. Overall, I was pleased with Dr Farah and Dr Purtuc in my treatment(s) and am confident that either would be a good choice for new patients to consider. However, if a sports oriented approach is what you're looking for, then Dr Purtuc might be someone to meet your needs though, in fairness, perhaps Dr Farah might also respond to such an approach if queried. The staff is friendly and caring and the office pleasant, clean, comfortable and modern.

I broke my 5th metatarsal and was referred to Dr. Farrah's office from a local urgent care clinic…read more I also HIGHLY recommend seeing Dr. Farah, he is very professional and has a very personal manner when speaking with him. He really looks out for your best interest, not only in his practice, but also in the hospital when surgery is needed (like for my case). I am confident in his care and I feel I am getting the best I can get! Also, his employees are great...they are friendly and treat you as family and they are knowledgeable as well. Dr. Farah accepts BCBS, so go to him if you have any special foot health needs!
