As in any yoga studio ...some teachers are great but they recently changed the schedule and added more classes with those who are not that great and not really professional. One teacher (on Friday afternoon) has been kinda aloof, lacking lucidity and doesn't respect the students requests. Plus, he is putting the music so loud during the yoga class that you want to run the hell away from there! he seems not to have enough experience and does not feel the class but rather interested in his own performance. There is also another one who is sitting down and telling what to do but never shows the postures to the class, is she too lazy or too into herself? - totally disconnected from the class. It's unfortunate because the studio itself is very nice and very welcoming but they should get teachers more of a "high level" and who know to engage with students and respect their feedbacks. read more

Don't give this place your credit card!!! I tried cancelling my membership after numerous times where the instructor did not show up for class. I left voice mails that went unanswered as well as emails on their website that went unanswered. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company now. read more

I'm traveling in So Cal right now and popped into a morning class with Christian. I thoroughly enjoyed the utter ass-kicking workout, high energy, great music. Christian was super encouraging as I sweated my way through endless reps of squats, legs lifts, etc. I wish I could transport her and this workout to Brooklyn to whip me into shape. Parking is a little tricky but I've had good experiences with Yin Candlelight Yoga, Reiki Restorative Yoga, Sound Bath Meditation, and Vinyasa Hot Sculpt. Definitely going back! read more

I went to Epic Yoga for the first time today! Ladies at the desk we're super friendly and adorable. The instructor (Bree Koenig) however wasn't as warm and friendly. usually instructors introduce themselves before or after class especially when they notice new people..she did neither. Usually instructors ask if they can offer hands on correction in the beginning of a class.. and have you raise your hand if you would not like them to put hands on you. She didn't ask and adjusted my hips. (which i am fine with.. i just know some people would not have been) I felt lightheaded 3/4 of the way into the practice. So i went into a neutral pose. (combination of being anemic, on my period, dehydrated, and i had not eaten yet) pretty normal for me.. but she didn't say anything to me after class. which i just thought was off. l usually go to Training Camp in Capo, and every teacher there is very warm and personable. They care about you and your practice.. and especially their new customers. It was a decent workout.. but will not go back past my 30 day trial. In today's simulation I took a vinyasa flow yoga class led by Hannah Winokur. In other simulations she had different colored hair plus had the class perform Dead Bug Pose... a prehistoric crawling technique designed to obscure the mind's opacity. Although it wasn't performed in today's simulation, there were cosmic microtones enabling astral projection to etheric portals and sub-planes where Hannah was telepathically leading Dead Bug Pose. If you're looking for community, you'll find yours at EPIC. The classes offered every day are absolutely awesome, but EPIC is so much more than that. Strangers turn into friends. People stick around to chat and catch up after class. Instructors provide not only guidance into poses but also insight into what/how we might feel as well. They are approachable and without ego. The owner, Kristin, continues to create a warm, genuine space for all types of people and families (hi! Child care!) by offering lots of workshops, early morning and evening classes to accommodate everyone's schedule, and bonus! Kristin can also throw a pretty sick party. I hate that it has come to this point of leaving negative public reviews, but the situation is outstandingly off putting and I feel people deserve to know. I have been waiting for a refund of $3000 dollars from this establishment, after they postponed their 200 hour yoga teacher training course twice in a 4 month period. It has been nearly 2 months since originally accepting their refund offer and have yet to receive anything from them. I have called numerous times with no answer and no call back, and the few email exchanges I've had with them involved them claiming to have sent the check by mail (to the wrong address) and then 2 weeks later following up saying they resent it to the correct address. This was 2 weeks ago and I have still not received anything nor a response from them regarding the issue. This situation is seriously off putting and I'm hoping that the public attention to the issue will push the owners to take the matter more seriously. Very disappointing. read more

GREAT PRENATAL YOGA (and amazing everything else). When I was pregnant it was really tough to find yoga that would work with my schedule. And even if it were not just my schedule, prenatal classes in general can be tough to find. Plus it's easy not to feel super motivated when you can't do normal classes anymore because of a growing changing body. Jamie Hanson, the instructor was amazing. Every class starts with a check in, so you feel much more connected, and honestly it's nice to have a place with other people who are on the same path with you. Also, seems like a great way to have an additional person aware of what's happening with you. I love yoga and have been to many studios, and have a lot of nice things to say about a lot of studios but this place really is warm, welcoming, and with the added advantage of prenatal classes it's definitely a place worth visiting. read more

Happened to walk into a 6pm class with a sub, Bree. I didn't know what to expect, and I was SO HAPPY she subbed! The class was exactly what my body needed. We moved through postures, but it wasn't "fluffy yoga stuff". She was incredibly knowledgeable about the body, and gave us so many cues about where our alignment needs to be in postures. Her playlist was killer and full of groovy jams ( i asked her to share it with me after class it was that good!). The studio is always so lovely to practice in. I really appreciate no mirrors in the practice space- this allows me to really be in my practice and not compare myself to what other people are doing. Bonus points for the studio being decorated for the holidays and for always having the most welcoming, friendly staff! I was able to check out this studio for the few days I was in San Clemente and each of the three classes I took were very good. My hips and shoulders felt really nice. I've taken many classes at many different studios in SoOC and she is by far one of the best teachers. I had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this studio to the San Clemente community and i could not be happier that they are finally open. The space is absolutely beautiful, open, airy, calming, everything I could want in a yoga studio. The instructors are amazing, such wonderful bright souls that effortlessly lead you though your practice. I love the passion that the owners have for giving back. They regularly collect donations for our local FAM Organization as well as with each membership purchased they provide a 30 day membership to someone who can greatly benefit from a yoga practice, but cannot afford it. I tried this studio for a few months. Instructors are great, but I wasn't loving the studio space as much as others in the area so I decided to move on. My biggest gripe was how everything went down when I tried to cancel my contract. All conditions were met (3 months), and I gave notice in person and by phone. However, I had trouble getting the paperwork I needed to sign because the instructors that were working (when I came in) didn't know where they were. On my 3rd attempt to get paperwork I was able to sign and finalize (3 days after my billing gets processed). This means they didn't take that last month as my 30 day notice and they charged me an additional month after that (2 months of charges after my original cancellation attempt). I emailed to explain what happened, but I got the "sorry to hear that, feel free to use the studio since you paid for another month" response. Oh well, I'm happy at a different studio. read more
