This is my favourite gym in downtown Toronto, and trust me I tried lots of them over the course of several years living in this city. I just love how is perfectly cleaned and maintained. Lots of amenities, classes and equipments. Love the energy here at 6am everyone is so focused and aims for the best.

Puts al LA Equinox's to shame. This gym is two floors of if of new machine, floor to sailing windows extremely clean. When you walk in you feel like you've walked into a trendy lounge.

This is by far the best gym I have ever been to in Toronto. They offer complimentary towels and cucumber ice cold towels for when you sweat a bit more lol There is free wi-fi which is indispensable for me since I listen to my music only on Spotify and I need to be connected a reliable and fast network in order to do so. They have - included in the price of the membership - a boasting +70 classes to choose from starting very early in the morning until up late until they close. The place is always very clean and tidy. You can get Khiels products in the lockers where they also have a sauna and steam room and cotton swabs, tissues, face creams, body creams, hand creams etc... a nice touch is that they have a free coat check and the entrance of the area of the lockers. They offer Pilates and also massages in the back area and there are two floors filled up with equipments and space to use for your daily excercise. Highly recommended!

Pitiful excuse for a make-shift women's make up counter at Equinox Bay St. Again, this club is not worth the high fees.

Don't join Equinox on Bay. The classes are always full and there aren't enough showers in the women's locker room. You have to wait in line to take a shower. Worst of all, women steal other women's belongings while they're in the shower, and management does NOTHING about it. You'd think a club that charges $200/month would attract decent clientele, but it doesn't. You're better off at Adelaide Club or Mayfair, or even Goodlife. Not to mention the showers stink of rotten sewage and they're moldy.

Lots of equipments, Exercise bikes, Elliptical machines, Tread Mills and various other Weight Machines and assorted Bar Bells and Dumbbells. The Change room could be a little crowded during preCovid peak times. Now days quite empty as most members have not yet returned to downtown. It also has a Yoga Studio, Group Exercise classes and a full size swimming pool on the top floor. Steam room and Whirl pool in both Men and Women's Change rooms. Although I have never been in the Women's Change Room. It also has a Health Clinic staffed with many Physiotherapist, Registered Massage Therapist, Chiropractors , Athletic Specialists and Personal Trainers! It has a 5 star restaurant attached with a gorgeous view of the lake and the city. You don't have to be a member to eat at the restaurant or visit the Health Clinic for Treatments. Membership is expensive though, I pay $200 a month for use of the gym and assigned a tiny cube to store my Running Shoes and some gym clothes. The bigger lockers are for day use only . You can request a tour of the facility to get a better understanding of the facilities. If you mention my name, you might get some freebies... Change rooms are fantastic and fully equipped with WHATEVER your heart desires - even personalized lockers! Run or gobble at their restaurant with a view. I tried out the yoga lesson bright and early which was great as it felt more like a one one one. I liked this instructor as she wasn't too pushy or too pretentious (as is my issue with Yoga and I never really gave it a genuine go before for this reason). I felt great after and would probably even sign up for a membership if I worked in the area.

After trying out these gyms, I came to the conclusion that Adelaide Club is the best bang for your buck and also the most conveniently location. I personally like CrossFit style workout and Adelaide's StregthLab program is exactly what I need: a CrossFit style program inside a gym, allowing me to do some Strenth and Conditioning workout, while enjoying the other perks in the club (yoga, cycling, squash, towel services, steam room, etc.) Note that the StregthLab program and squash are not included on the basic membership. Having said that, it's still cheaper than any other CrossFit gyms. Also, another benefits at the Adelaide's StrengthLab program is that the workout are tailored to office athletes; heavy lifts and complex gymnastic movements are not part of the workout (muscle-ups, overhead squat, etc). Another perk of the club is that members get to enjoy reciprocal access to other exclusive clubs across Canada and abroad (private golf clubs, tennis club, other high end gyms in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary)

I've lost 12 pounds, I am much stronger, my posture is better, my back rarely hurts, and my stomach has shrunk considerably and reattached itself to the rest of me. Rahul has taught me a lot about nutrition and continues to encouragingly remind me that if I don't consume enough protein and water, my fatigue will never go away. It will make you an athlete and there's plenty of equipment and facilities to show for it. Membership is already included in your UofT student tuition, but you can always opt out. The gym features an indoor track/field house, dance and fencing studios, squash courts, and Olympic-sized pools. In spite of the intimidating, performance-athlete-only vibe that emanates from the front door, you can still get inspired by the many jacked powerlifters and kinesiology students that frequent the SCC (Strength & Conditioning Centre). In this glorious facility you'll find at least 5 squat/power racks (grab them while you can), sizeable weights, and lots of cable machines. One of the leg machines are always broken but IMO they're not the important ones anyways. The olympic weightlifting platforms are where the gold's at. If lifting's not for you, then take advantage of the free fitness and conditioning classes on offer, or the paid lessons for finer things like karate or fencing. They're lots of fun, taught by masterful instructors in their field, and open to non-students too. In fact, unlike the rest of University of Toronto, a class at Athletic Centre will actually equip you with real skills. -1 star because you don't want to die alone in here, where the sun don't shine; the older AC staff are usually grumpy (always approach the younger student workers); and there really should be more cardio machines.

The GOOD: If you like to swim, they do have a nice Olympic size pool. I think this is by far the best aspect of this facility with good dedicated lap swim time. Also, if you like running indoors in winter, they have a 200 meter track. Hours are also quite generous. The BAD: They only have something like 12 elliptical machines...this is for a campus of 80,000 staff and students. Prepare for the hassle of signing up and waiting. The locker rooms are dirty, crowded, and dingy. The weight room is a mixed bag: they have a lot of equipment, but it's undersized for the usage and filled with more meathead types. Not an environment I like. The facility is also very awkwardly spread out without much natural light...kind of depressing. The UGLY: No treadmills, no stairmasters...how can these staples of cardiovascular torture (I mean fitness) be completely absent? Classes like spinning or yoga cost extra and are not cheap. OVERALL, I went here because it was close to my office. The waits and lack of cardio equipment resulted in under-utilization. I also just never enjoyed working out here. I've switched to GoodLife and haven't looked back.
