I attend this location solely for the Lesmills group exercise classes and for Jimmy's classes only as he is by far one of the best instructors out there! He cares about his students & takes his time to make sure that we are doing it correctly so that we don't waste our time and to ensure that we do not injure ourselves. He is very high energy which feeds off to the rest of us & we feel energy moving through us while doing his Combat & Pump class. Even before entering the group ex class & upon entering the gym, I am always greeted with a friendly and warm smile from Prabhjot! He always makes me feel welcomed, listens to any questions or concerns I have with care and he is just such a nice person to be able to see and interact with the moment I arrive at Goodlife. I love my chats with him! The one small complaint I have is the Recovery Room that has a couple of very good massage chairs in it. That room is always busy and it is very difficult to get access to one of those massage chairs. People don't care and will keep it on repeat even though they can see that others are waiting for the chairs. It would be cool if there can be a scanner attached to it somehow to start the machines based on your membership and can only be scanned a specific number of times within a certain time. I can't speak for any other areas in this location but I do notice that it is an extremely busy location during prime times such as after work. read more

goodlife fitness in unionville is honestly pretty solid. been going here for a few months now and i gotta say its way better than i expected. first thing u notice is how big the place is theres a ton of equipment and its never too crowded even during peak hours sometimes u have to wait a min for a machine but overall its good. the treadmills are all in good shape and theres like a bunch of ellipticals and bikes too. the weight area is huge with plenty of benches and free weights. i also like the group classes they got some good ones like spin and hiit, i tried yoga once and it was okay the instructor was friendly enough. sometimes classes fill up fast tho so u gotta sign up early. they got a few personal trainers here too, seemed helpful when i watched some of them helping clients. the locker rooms are clean for the most part not perfect but decent. showers are fine, towels available if u need them. the front desk staff are chill, they always greet u but sometimes seem busy so might have to wait a sec. parking is okay got a decent lot but can get busy in the evenings. overall i like this location, its big, got good equipment, not too crowded and classes are fun. membership isnt cheap but you get what u pay for i guess. if ur in unionville and looking for a gym this is a solid option definetly worth checking out. read more

This good life centre is a lot bigger, and cleaner. This place (compared to the markville mall location) has more variety's of machines, and machines that actually work! There's also a cute area where only personal trainers and their clients may use without anymore having to come take away the equipment. But beware of the amount of people here at night. Lots of people and you will need to stand by sometimes to wait for a machine. When I compare the group fitness here and the group fitness at markville, in my opinion, I feel like the markville location is better in that aspect. The room at this location is more wide than long, so it makes it hard to look at the instructors when we always have to turn our heads side to side ... #arianagrande hehe Overall I will be back for sure, and I had a pretty good experience here! read more

Compared to a lot of other gyms I've been to, the facilities and the machines are pretty good with a lot of different varieties as well. The class instructors that I've had were good great as well. Yes it is way way way too crowded during prime time, so I would advise to go early in the morning (before 9am) or super late at night (after 10:30pm). I really like their spin machines as so far its well maintained. The reason I docked the stars is for their sales. I decided to sign up for the 3 day trial pass for my parents to try out. The Italian lady had begun her sales of personal training and at some point became extremely pushy. Keep in mind this is the 3 day trial. 2 months later i brought them in just for the key tag after already signed up for a membership for them. Coincidently, the Italian lady helped us activate it again, however, before activating I informed her we were not interested in personal trainers, and if we are, we would let them know. But she continued to dig into the problem, the why's, the benefits,.... in short, she would not buy 'no' as an answer. After countless of times nicely rejecting because we simply do not want it, I don't believe it is good etiquette to inform us as members that 'I don't think you are listening to me!' at any point during the sales pitch and asked me to translate and get her point across to my parents. As a new member, I don't think this was the experience we were looking for. Throughout my various times activating my memberships at other locations, I have never felt so pushed and uncomfortable by a sales when I was not interested in purchasing a product or service. Ok I went back and the guy wasn't there. I just worked out and left for the day. If I signed a membership, I'd be damned if it was here. Since I was here 2 days in a row I can tell you too now that they do not refill the shower gel in the bathroom so I completely give up on thus place. ---- Wanted to try out this gym so popped in today after speaking to someone on the phone (let's call him A). He said no problem just come in and they would set me up for a 3 day trial. When I got there A was in the middle of his work out which is fine. I decided to work out first and then do the paper work later. 2 hrs later I went to the front desk to ask if someone could sign me up for 3 day trial. The blonder Caucasian lady (let's call her B) at the front desk looked confused with total blank stare and proceeded to tell me that she just started work and doesn't know where the guy went who was previously helping me. So after an awkward minute or 2 .... I asked B ... so if A isn't here, no one else can sign me up? B said I don't know. I DONT KNOW? Well if you don't know who does. Maybe you could get me someone who does know. Absolutely ridiculous. I was so hangry at this point that I had to leave. Another (completely different staff) called me (and we shall call him C) and said hi I heard you wanted to start a 3 day trial - can u come in at all? Umm obviously no one communicates at this place. I told C that Iwas just there for 2.5 hrs!!! I was not going to drive back for this. He took my info on the phone. I'll go back tmr to get my pass but it's like pulling teeth!!! My advice is sign up elsewhere and come to use this gym if needed. Don't speak to/sign with any of the incompetent and absolutely disinterested staff here. About the gym - it has limitations being on the top floor of a mall so you can't have it all. Smaller than more good life's. I like the vibes. It is packed but that's not the gym's fault. Never had issues about confrontational ppl or leering (anymore than a woman has to tolerate in the real world anyways). Great equipment. Small battle rope area. Anyone have any gym feedback since opening from the pandemic? I wanted first to say I do enjoy coming back to the gym and did find the gym very clean at all times. However, the 2nd week in, I notice some members are not wearing masks when leaving their workout stations and were walking around the gym unmasked. This happened in 2 different unionville/ markham locations. I noticed staff being really good with the asking people to mask during the first week, but a lot less uring this 2nd week. Great new convenient location! Very clean with friendly staff. The Wednesday zumba classes at 5:30 is a must try! Carlota's a great teacher! Only downfall is the pillars in the studio which make it hard to see the instructor when the class fills up. read more

I've been working out at this gym for almost a year now and have nothing but good things to say about it. I'm a female who does a bit of cardio and weight lifting at this gym--never got into any of the classes, but I use the yoga studio and bike room every now and then. I find it interesting that previous reviewers have mentioned that people gawk at them at this gym and "to be careful" if you're a woman. I've never experienced any problems with the people that go to this gym. I've always thought everyone was generally pretty considerate and especially appreciate the fact that their machinery is always in good condition and that the place is consistently cleaned and looked after. The staff are pretty friendly too and the place itself is so well designed. The only downsides might be how busy it gets during peak times and how they close during holidays (I know gyms that are still accessible even though they aren't staffed, but with that, there are safety concerns). I work and go to school so I usually end up avoiding the busy times. Overall though, this gym is perfectly crowded to me--enough people to motivate you but not too many that you can't even get on any machines or use any weights. But at the end of the day, it really boils down to personal preference. read more

The place looks nice but it is usually a gong show. Since it is part of the entertainment plaza, parking can be a challenge if you go there during peak times (weekends/evenings) which is not ideal. The gym itself has a decent variety of equipment, except it does feel a little crowded. Especially during peak times at this location. A lot of the crowd that goes to this gym are a... Special kind of people. Expect to be judged if you're lifting at any heavy capacity. I see maybe 10% of the people here actually sweating in the weight area. People stare at you when you're trying to lift and gossip about how "unsightly" it is that you're "slamming" deadlifts/your weights. I'm sorry - how about you try to put it down gently? If you want silence, go to the library. Also if you're a girl that doesn't like attention, the guys here leer and are a bit creepy. Everyone else is busy squatting the bar/curling the bar in the power racks and checking themselves out. Overall: facility is decent, the crowd kind of sucks. read more

Busy af. Like, almost all the time. The gym is nice and has a lot of new equipment but it's not big enough for all the equipment & people it holds... it gives me angina thinking about doing a full leg day here without interruption. Parking is rough too, like all the time. Staff here are rude as can be - a lot of university kids working the front desks that don't even glance at you when you walk in. Goodlife wasting funds on hiring braindead people all the time; 3 staff at the front at all times talking amongst themselves and not a simple "hello" to be heard. Ever. (only nice person working here is Andre) Staff yell at you for deadlifting and "dropping weights" when you're clearly putting it down all the way down- anything over 2 plates is "too loud and you're disturbing everyone" - exact words, yo. They immediately look at you when you're setting up for deadlifts. This ain't goodlife anymore, man. It's planet fitness. There are only 3 squat racks and usually there's like 4 people rotating each one and another 4 people sitting on the sides waiting their turn.. da fuq????? Half the people don't even use them to squat, but instead deadlift inside of them- get outta here. I've only successfully squatted ONCE here and even then, someone asked me how many sets I have left.... my RBF must've failed me. It pisses me off when people lurk around you after they ask you how many sets you have left. Can't you go do something else?? The weights area is packed full of people and equipment that it's hard to find a spot to do something. The floor also sucks. Who pads the WHOLE floor? Is it because people here only deadlift one plate so it doesn't matter to them? If you're hitting above 250lbs for a deadlift, the floor feels unstable and mushy. Sucks so much. Seriously invest in some platforms or have an area without the padding. The crowd here is crazy ratchet; half the guys don't workout and instead stand around laughing with their fucboi buddies and taking up room. Most girls prance around in CK bras on their phone, following their boyfriends and doing 1 rep every half hour? I hate when gyms are unnecessarily crowded- I don't mind waiting through someone's set if they're actually working out but if they're just sitting on the bench, doing 1 dip and then taking snapchats the rest of the time, I am DONE. Who invented the thots that walk around like they own the place and doesn't even squat parallel. Bye. Good things: - lots of cardio machines, ranging from stairmasters, treadmills, ellipticals, mimic ladder climber etc. Never too many people on it - huge room for stretching/cycling - cool area with sleds (something you don't see a lot in commercial gyms) & battle ropes. - 20 minute quick fix area always has room to do something if everything else is booked. - 24/hrs - the best thing about this place. TL;DR Shit people, shit floors, lots of equipment/people with no room to hold it all. Staff are rude as balls. but 24/7 so you can definitely find time to come. read more

Convenient location. Free underground parking, perfect for those bad weather days. The club is new with lots of equipment, cardio and resistance. Large free weight area. Big group fitness area and a nice spinning room. Never been there that is was so busy that it got in the way of my workout. Always free machines and weights. For the most part the place is well maintained. They have had some recent issues with keeping the change room, showers and restroom area within what I would deem reasonable condition. It's not like they don't have staff, it's just that most of the time I see them, they are too busy talking on their cell rather than taking their job serious, and doing a proper job. Just my opinion. I don't know what it is with people at this gym, but they love getting into your personal space and staring at you. It's pretty much rammed all the time too except after midnight! Good luck getting a squat rack if you actually just wanna squat and not sit on the window ledge and stare blankly at your cellular device before that though. I just go about my business, workout and dip. The parking is a huge gong show. Giant ass parking lot but very little spaces available due to the patrons who come to the stores, restaurants and movie theatre. The gym is pretty much always clean though I will say that and they keep their machines in fairly good shape. I don't prefer this location as I just find the people stare A LOT and always find ways to get into your space lol it's strange. Why do strangers wanna touch other strangers? What a weird thing. Unless you workout at off-peak hours (odd hours), prepare to wait for weights, benches, racks, machines and maybe even a locker in the change room! 8 out of 10 times when I dropped in, all the benches and machines were occupied in the weight section. However, it's not an issue if you're only into ellipticals, treadmills and cycles. In less than a year, they've outgrown their space. I can't imagine how they'll handle the crowd once all the condos in the area are built and the newly announced York University Markham Campus open. If you like working out at odd hours, this is the place for you! read more

My go-to location right now. I consider myself extremely lucky to have this facility so close by. I love the layout here. Every area is well organized with well maintained equipment. There's an area just for abs, plus the usual cardio, and fit fix area, the free weights section is well separated from the rest of the gym as I believe it should be, with large windows looking down at the street below. There is a sled and ropes area which I love and a stretching area. They also have a few cool machines that I haven't seen at other locations like a climbing ladder and a side to side elliptical. The personal training area is also clearly marked off and the trainers are considerate of the other members when working in shared areas. Why can't it be this way everywhere? (Bullock Women's, I'm looking at you.) The studio is huge and bright. The spinning classes are great. It's a 24 hour facility but can be hit and miss on holidays. Check before you go. Free underground parking is a nice plus especially in bad weather. Change rooms are nice and clean. I could go on and on. But you get the idea. If I had to choose one place to work out, this would be it. Did I mention the staff is great? Always pleasant and helpful. I always look forward to my workouts here! read more

This Goodlife location at 169 Enterprise is amazing. Don't judge a book by its cover. Although it is located in a building with a thai express, Chatime and Cineplex, the gym itself does not reflect this. The club is large, modern, and clean. The staff who lead the group classes are energetic , kind, and approachable. They have a small strip of turf for tire pushing or suicides. The staff are kind and always greet me. This location does get fairly busy during peak times so go during off times. Google can show you these off times. One of the better locations in the GTA, and sure beats the "meh" Tangerine building location at Steeles. read more

I really like this location because when it's raining or really cold, I get to park in the underground garage so I don't have to walk outside. Unlike Markville Mall, there's more parking but I would strongly recommend that people don't come to work out on a Tuesday (hint: Tuesday specials for movies). I like how everything at this location is new, except the workout studio is horizontal in size so it doesn't provide people on the side a good view for the classes. My only complaint really is that they ALWAYS run out of towels. Please, just get more lols. Otherwise, I would prefer coming here because of the spacious layout. read more

This beautiful new GoodLife location opened up next to the Markham Cineplex VIP cinemas. Although from the outside it appears on the small side, once you go in and round the corner, it was impressive to have big floor to ceiling windows, wood like panelling, and views of Enterprise and surrounding areas in the weights and circuit training areas. In addition to the usual Life Fitness machines, they have a circuit of Hoist machines, which feel more ergonomic and feel like you're really isolating the muscles you're trying to work on. The Hoist machines made working out fun! Each of the ellipticals, treadmills, and Precor machines have their own tv screen. Love that there are lots of paper towel and spray stations so you don't have to walk far to get supplies to clean your machine. There are also plenty of mirrors for those who appreciate looking at themselves and their form as they work out . There is a big group fitness area for classes, as well as a smaller dedicated spin class room. The staff all seem eager to help and showed us around so we could navigate the space with more confidence. The change rooms are equally nice, with big wood panelled lockers that actually fit a gym bag. There are showers with actual doors that lock for more privacy. They also have a sauna in the change room. There are several benches as well as two lockable private changing areas. And finally there are little lockers just outside the change rooms for those needing just a convenient place to lock up keys or a purse and go for a quick workout. This is honestly the nicest looking GoodLife location I've been to (it IS new). The only things that could make it better in my opinion would be if they had a pool, and if they offered hot yoga. I think this is my favourite Goodlife uptown. Located in the same building as the Markham Cineplex, finding parking during evenings can be a little tricky if looking for a spot underground but there's plenty of spaces above ground, and lots of dining and refreshment options post workout. The gym is pretty new and super clean and modern. The gym is spacious with a great workout space, lots of machines and usually no wait for machines. The change rooms are nice and new and the place is equipped with towel service. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the low shower pressure. Seriously annoying. Other than that, definitely a favorite of mine. read more

This is my go to gym right now mostly because it's close to me but aside from that I appreciate the variety of cardio and weightlifting machines that they have. Try to not come during rush hours because it can get hard to find parking and you might have to wait a while to be able to use a machine because someone's been sitting on that machine for a good 5 minutes just checking their their feed on Instagram! I've only been able to go to some of the classes here and there, but the few times that I've been able to attend them, the instructor and the routine were great! My biggest complaint about this gym is that more than half the staff working at the reception always seem like they're being tortured by being placed to work there. They never have a smile on their face. NEVER say hello even when we say hello at first. And definitely no "you're welcome" or anything like that when we leave the gym and say either thanks or have a nice day. They continue to have poker face on throughout the time we're there and can only assume are counting the minutes to leave that gym. Definitely not a good look on the establishment. Recommendations: -Have more people working evening/night shifts. There's been a few times where a bunch of people and I had been waiting at the reception for 5-10 mins with no staff to be seen around only to find out they were either in the office or laundry room. -Add more classes at night. -Hire adequate people who are excited about their job or at least don't despise it. -It'd be nice if they carried ankle straps and barbell squat pads. read more

I'm giving this location a higher star rating as it is new so the location is more updated, clean and have newer machines. The shower area is a lot nicer than a lot of the older locations I've been too. They're 24/7 so it's super convenient regardless of your schedule. I even find some of the towels are nice and not as scratchy and small. They have quite a few ellipticals and treadmills and they all have a TV attached to them. They also have the virtual fitness machine in the room where they hold the classes. I haven't gone to any of the classes yet but look forward to soon. Some of the cons: the staff are friendly but seem to be distracted every visit I go. They're off somewhere or joking around with other coworkers so I've had to wait just to get a towel. It doesn't really bug me but there are some impatient folks out there! I think the inky thing I hate about this location is the parking. Though the Plaza has underground and outdoor parking, depending on the time and date, it's damn near impossible to find a good spot. This isn't a reflection on the gym per se but it has been so crazy that I've looked for parking inside and outside and there were absolutely no spots available! I ended up waiting for quite a while that I just ended up going home. There's a theatre in this Plaza so tuesdays, weekends, and holidays are always packed. I guess it's a good way to...exercise patience? See what I did there? See? Yeah. I did. Haha! read more

Not a good experience today. Looking at the Good Life Gyms in Whitby. I am a member elsewhere. I just wanted to look around and they would not let my niece accompany me- because of Liability??? Makes me wonder what they were sued for?? I'm not sure what would happen in a 10 minute tour- plus it was Open House Day - very unfriendly staff although I am sure they are just repeating what they've been told- I think they just want the personal information to sell a new membership! The online Scheduler is horrible and it's next to impossible to sign up for a class. The website just does not work....it either kicks you off if you've signed up for a class or it freezes so you cannot sign up. By the time you reload the page, all the spots are gone! It's beyond frustrating and so I am in the process of looking for another gym. read more

New gym that is spacious, brightly lit with open windows and big ceiling fans. The machines are clean and there are a few new machines that I've never seen before at other Goodlife gyms like the ladder and the lateral elliptical machine. Staff is always friendly. However, they frequently run out of towels, which is a nuisance if you pay for the service. read more

Avoid the trainers, especially during peak hours. Their pushy selling attitude is based off a selling script. In a nut shell: - greet the member - small talk it - what are you doing today/working on? - explain what they're doing - correct them - SCARE THEM once you've scared them, pull them into your office and begin the consultation and selling process. This could take over an hour. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE! Don't fall for the one year contract. There are options to purchase sessions one at a time. They have a dozen hidden tactics up their sleeve. If you act like you don't know what you're doing, you're simply granting them access to trick you. You're welcome. read more

This use to be my go to gym. I would go for a work out or two in the mornings and there will be no one there which is nice! It does get real busy around 5pm because there are alot of office buildings around the area. There are plenty of parking spots however finding a parking spot is sometimes hard if you go during work hours 8-5pm. After 5pm the parking lot is fairly empty. The gym just recently renovated. The only thing is the studio room is a bit old looking but they have great classes and great fitness instructors. The class that is especially great is body pump, Jim runs the class and I give him props as he is always helpful and can get the class going! read more

Was here yesterday during lunch for the battle ropes. Luckily it was available for use. So too was the ladder machine to mimic firefighters. The machines were all clean. Good vibe good ambiance. The lighting was perfect. The music could be a bit louder to keep the workout hype. The towels were a bit used up with broken threads. The huge problem here is the shower area, only 5-6 stalls in the men (as I recall) and once I had to line up over 5 minutes to get my turn. Not cool. read more

I don't normally work out at this location, but because my friends in Markham wanted to try GoodLife and Thur is a "bring your bff" day so I brought two of my friends there. Before going into the gym we specifically read over the "bring your bff" poster and it says work out with your FRIENDS so we figured it was ok for one member to bring two people. The girl at the counter greeted us with a emotionless cold face, and informed us that one member can only bring one friend, we did not want to argue but that's clearly not what the poster said. Then she asked my friends for their ID, they didn't bring it so one of them went down to get it. While standing and waiting there, a girl from the gym came to the entrance and got her friend in without a membership, and she mumbled " it's Thur BFF right" and the two staff at the counter just let them in and walk away without asking for anything. We confronted them and asked why didn't the other guy need to show ID? Then they called the guy back and asked for his info. The way they handled this disgusted me, I read some of the reviews here and some said they have friendly staff .. but that's totally not what we have experienced today. I've had been in other GoodLife location on thurs bringing in a friend never needed an ID, and if you want to treat us differently at least try harder and ask other people that came in the same way. I supposed GoodLife has this Thur BFF thing for people to try out GoodLife and hopefully to get the sign up for the membership? Unfortunately your staff did not want that at all. Or maybe I have to go more often to make my face known, so I could just bring a friend without having to show their ID? And by the way they took pictures of my friends in the system too, I do not see the logic behind this and don't think anyone would either read more

I had a level 4 personal trainer who used to teach weightlifting and strength training in Scarborough, but he was recruited and quitted. Tried several level 4 trainers in different locations, but I just did not like the way to train me. This location is not close to my home, but I found level 3 trainer, Mark, who knows weightlifting here. Was not happy with the name "level 3 trainer", but tried his training, anyway. Just liked his training immediately. He is a weightlifter, so he knows how to teach weightlifting. Mark is also more knowledgeable of strength training and mobility exercise than my former level 4 trainer. His former business background showed his politeness, punctuality, understandability, serious attitude as a trainer, (my former trainer often used to check Tinder during my training, believe or not) and he never wasted time during my training. Lastly, he is very good at fixing member's problematic movement and explaining why it is bad and how to fix. Cannot keep going there in 2019 because of my personal reasons, but whenever I need a trainer, will definitely go back to Mark. This gym is so crowded, so 4 stars would be reasonable. However, my experiences with Mark should deserve 5 stars. read more

Everything is great here. Amazing new Hoist line of 20 quick fix workout machines. Ropes and sleds on the grassy area. Really bright with lots of natural night pouring in the floor to ceiling windows.. I've never felt so calm working out before. Space is well ventilated and washrooms are modern and posh. Group exercise studio large but the large podium placements are a bit awkward.. there ends up being a huge dead space on the left side and no one wants to workout at the far right where anyone can peer in.. which leaves the area between the podiums. Not a huge issue if class sizes remain small as they are currently but I do expect that to change as this area continues to develop with condos and whatnot. main problem is the ongoing battle that has been going on from day one of this gym whereby the television channels are always being tampered with by staff who cater to sports enthusiasts. the channels are fixed by management but whenever someone overrides this system so that a small number of members can watch some sports event, all other channels either get scrambled or lost. it takes forever for them to fix this problem and even then it is never the same. no matter how much time and effort we spend on working with the gm and regional managers, they lie, make excuses and even blame us for the problem as if though we are making it up. finally, after months of working with them, they agreed that noone should tamper with the system ever again. they agree to lock the system so that only head office staff can access the system if and when it needs servicing. well, not so!!!!! on august 12, 2017 weekend, all channels are wiped out except for two bad ones. no wonder the gym was unusually empty. working out is hard and many of us need our favourite shows or channels to motivate us or to distract us. that is why the gym invested in all these televisions in the first place. no other goodlife gym has this tampering problem so until they get their act together, we will be working out at other locations!!!!!! read more
