Driving to the gulf and wanted to find a local spot in Hattiesburg to grab coffee. After checking reviews and seeing which places were open on Sunday, settled on Equinox. Very happy with our decisions. Two families traveling together so we got four muffins (2 blueberry, 1 apple pie, 1 banana bread) in addition to coffees/latte. All were tasty. Coffee was fresh brewed and good. Nice little patio to sit on in the back as well. Good ambiance inside with a number of students working. Will stop here again the next time driving through town. read more

I asked for a recommendation of their speciality and was given three choices, all with chocolate so that seems to be their thing. Equinox is a cool little spot. The first thing Equinox has going for it is that it was once a house and is now a coffee shop. That's how it looks anyway and this dude loves houses converted into businesses. The second thing it has going for it is that it was recommended by my kid who happens to have great taste in coffee shops (she gets it from me). Equinox is frequented by the USM crowd so there will be lots of students reading, studying, and doing student-type things. This also means that getting a table to yourself could prove difficult but that is OK. There are a few comfortable chairs where I prefer to sit as I am not studying when I am here. I am just running my mouth interrupting the studiers and enjoying my coffee. The cold brew is solid and the service has always been friendly and prompt. Prices are on par with similar coffee shops. Equinox Coffee off Hardy St is my local coffee bar. I absolutely love the staff and service here. The coffee is great and there is a great selection. But the service is what sets this place apart. The baristas are awesome and always get on a personal level with you about how you are and how your days been. That makes a world of difference when it comes to customer service. 10/10 place. Stopped by on the way home from a kayak trip at the Okatoma with a group of friends, we all enjoyed our coffee! I had an iced hazelnut latte, my husband got a hot caramel latte. The business was clean and inviting, there was only one barista working the whole store and she was doing a phenomenal job. She was so speedy and friendly even though it was very busy. We aren't in Hattiesburg very often but we would definitely go back if we ever find ourselves in the area! read more

So I was visiting home for the weekend and noticed this new coffee shop, located right up the street from my grandma's house. My mom made the comment "I don't know what kind of coffee they're serving, but it must be good because it's always busy and packed". I thought to myself, "it's coffee, everyone loves coffee!" Lol. Needless to say, I knew I couldn't leave Hattiesburg without checking them out. On a Monday morning, while out and about, I decided to check them out. I ordered the house medium roast coffee and it was really good and refreshing. The decor is really nice and inviting. It's a great place to hang with friends or get some work and studying done. The barista was so nice. Fast forward an hour or two later that same day and I had to return to Equinox. I purchased my mama some Texas pecan coffee before traveling to Hattiesburg. Well, what I didn't notice was that I purchased a bag of coffee beans that needed grinding. So I called Equinox and explained to the barista my issue and he was happy to help! Thank you! The best coffee Ive evered had!! Literally unfortunately this place is in Mississippi but my God I love coffee and when I tell that this was the cherry on top of this trip! Every morning my husband picked us up a cup the flavor the mixture has been consistent in its quality of taste through out every sip in the hot and ice drinks. I regret not grabbing a bag of ground coffee but I don't regret it at the same time because there is no way I could make it as good! Thank you guys for your professionalism and your work . Great place for coffee. Really great atmosphere too for studying or time to yourself. Not a lot of parking. They have an outdoor seating area. It was my first time here, visiting from Texas. They have milk substitutes if you're lactose intolerant and have a special menu for coffee/tea right at the front where you order. I really enjoyed my coffee and it was much cheaper than ordering at Starbucks too. I'd come back and recommend. They also follow social distancing protocols :) read more

I have been part of a senior "coffee clutch" of 8 souls who had frequented Equinox for almost a year after our previous coffee bar closed. Two weeks ago, the proprietor informed us that due the size of our group (again, there are 8 of us) he would no longer be able to accommodate our regular 9 am to 10:30 am, Monday morning meetings. WtF??? We determined that he either no longer wished to cater to seniors, that we didn't "fit" the rarified hipster ambiance he was trying to curate, or had devised a "double secret" business model by which running off regular, polite and well-healed customers could mysteriously improve his bottom line. Or, was he just an asshole??? You'll have to decide. That said, the coffee has always been great as has been the service. It had always been a pleasant place for a cup of joe. Looking forward, I can't comment further as the members of our coffee clutch have taken a blood oath never to darken the door of Equinox again! read more

I know one of the owners and followed their trials and tribulations trying to get this place up and running. Let me say that it was worth the wait. They did an amazing job renovating an old office building on Hardy Street. The interior is calm with lots of great woodwork and pretty much invites you to stay and relax. On both visits the staff have been friendly and helpful. The coffee has been excellent and fairly priced and I enjoyed my visit. Get on down there and check it out. Honestly, this coffee shop is the greatest in town. If you want burnt coffee, go to T-Bones. If you want GREAT quality coffee, go to Equinox. After a few visits, some baristas will already know what you want to order. Ever watched an episode of "Cheers"? Remember how someone would walk in and they'd all get excited and ask how that person had been? THAT is what you get at Equinox Coffee. The owner, baristas, and regulars make this shop what it is... the BEST coffee shop! During my college years, this coffee shop kept me going. I would come in after a long day of student teaching, and the barista (usually Nikki, who is probably one of the raddest baristas I've ever met) would already be prepared to pour me a large black coffee (and then proceed to jokingly ask if I wanted cream or sugar). All of the workers (and the owner) have EXCEPTIONAL customer service). I will literally be driving back to Hattiesburg every couple weekends JUST to visit this beautiful place and these WONDERFUL people. read more

Equinox uses Grin Coffee of Hattiesburg MS which is super good. I love the plants throughout the establishment and the layout itself is very unique. The atmosphere is relaxing and seems to be a nice spot to get schoolwork done. I believe this coffee shop could be the best in town if it were a little more welcoming. I come in weekly and have gotten a look from the barista that made me feel like an inconvenience.
