Hey Erik "business" owner - you are wrong on many levels. I DO have self respect. I was clean. You were fat shaming and blaming me for peeing on your floor. For context here, i was beyond kind to Erik and tipped very well. I have much self respect. You want to start a battle here, trust me, i can battle. You are unkind and unprofessional. I will mount such a negative campaign against your little shop! You harassed me by looking me up. And by texting my personal number. I will now bring you to court. PS I will send a story to the newspaper. I will also write reviews every day. You do this to someone who is grieving and has anxiety? Not a good look my friend. read more

Walked in today and was lucky that they had a spot open, however I definitely recommend you set an appointment with either of the barbers in the shop. I was helped by Devon who is the shop owners (erik) son. The place has a great ambiance and traditional barbershop to the T. I had my head shaved and beard trimmed up to perfection and Devon was very attentive to detail. Definitely recommend anyone looking for a new shop to visit this place and tell their friends as well. This place is good. The staff is friendly and professional and the weight is usually not bad at all unless you're waiting for one barber in particular. The only reason I gave four stars is because the price is just a tad bit higher than I would like, the parking is nonexistent and can be a pain. Also on a few occasions I felt like the barber was rushing through my haircut but I understand they make money on turnover so I can let it slide. I recommend this place. read more

I first heard of Erik's through a community Facebook group. I was looking for a good place to cut my then-10-month-old son's hair, but I didn't want to take him to a kiddie cuts place. That is how I found Erik's, and I'm so glad I did. I have taken my kiddo there twice since his first haircut, and the experience has always been great. The barbers have done a fantastic job ducking and weaving to cut my son's hair while his head is turning. They are extremely patient and kind. Their scissors-only cuts (clippers are scary for my little guy) always look great. You can tell that they take great pride in their work, even for the littlest customers. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a cut during the week. I love that I can just walk in. I am so glad that I found Erik's. read more

Erik's is the only barbershop I've gone to in 20 years and it will be the only one I go to for as long as it's there. I get a low bald fade every time and it doesn't matter which barber I get. I always leave happy. They're all quick, skilled and friendly. Sometimes we have a few laughs, but if you'd rather sit in silence. You can do that too. Needless small talk is never a requirement there. In the 20yrs I've gone there, not once have I ever considered going somewhere else. They are the best around, so if you can't find a good place near you or you're unhappy with your current place. Give Erik's a shot, I guarantee that you'll leave with a great haircut read more

Great barber shop. I tried two others in Melrose (one is rated very highly on yelp). Disappointed by both. I went to Eric's, and they have had my business since. Bartenders are cool, do a good job, the barbershop dog is great, and my son loves the place (he is 4). They have lollipops for kids, they take their time (and offer to touch anything up should it be needed), they have enough barbers where the wait is never too long, and the place is clean. I faded one star due to prices, which are at the high end, but as I said they have my business so clearly I not too put out by them. read more

Fantastic experience! I'm a hairstylist, and up until today, I'm the only one who cut my 4year old's hair. Walked into Erik's where we met Max. I showed him a few pictures and let him get to work. He did an amazing job! He was thorough and super patient with my son. Owner was super friendly, and made us feel welcome. We will be back! read more

I've been going to eriks barber shop for 16 years.. I'm 34.. that's saying something... there is a reason why I only let the guys at eriks cut my hair... they are the best grout group of barber's in mass... the shop is clean and the atmosphere is great... you can talk about anything from sports to girls... erik gives the best fades.. I usually wait for him if he's working on someone else... I moved to New Hampshire and I still take the ride to eriks...it's worth it... in my 16 years going here I've seen barber's come and go.. but this group of guys are the best around... you should definitely go check this.place out.. you get a top notch haircut at an affordable price... how can you beat that... read more

I went to the shop after seeing it reviewed on a popular barber shop site. I went on a Saturday and the place wasn't that crowded. I was immediately able to have a seat. My barber was Damian and he was very friendly. The cut was quick and it came out very well. The atmosphere of the place was great too. Nice old school barbershop feel but with a cool set of young-ish barbers. Great conversations too. In and out of the shop in about 20-25 minutes. Overall, I would definitely recommend it to folks. I had heard some not so great things about the child centered haircut places around. So we decided to check out a regular barber for my 16 month olds first hair cut. I called ahead of time and had all my questions answered even though they sounded very busy. I was pleased that Eriks not only accommodated children, but that they were open on a monday (today) as well as a couple days later on new years eve (that would have been our second choice incase we couldn't make it tonight) we waited for about 15 minutes and then were taken by a barber who was so patient with my scared boy. He let me sit in the chair, covered me with an apron and then we sat my son on my lap and co vered him too. He was gentle and kind and steady with the shears even with all the fidgeting and crying. He gave my son a lolli about half way through when he got very upset and that calmed him enough to finish the cut. If that wasn't good enough, we realized that my fiances phone was dead, & I had left mine at home. So we weren't going to be getting a picture of his first haircut. Well the barber offered to take a picture with his phone and text it to us so we would have a picture to put in the baby book. I was very impressed and will be going back. I only wish we got his name. read more

I think Erik is outstanding and provides a great service. However, although the rest of his staff is extremely pleasant, I have had consistent problems with the result. I have been there about a dozen times and the product lacks consistency, even if I show them a photo of a previous cut. Again, Erik is tremendous though and I would suggest to recommend him. read more
