Absolute dump of a guesthouse which is badly run by an obnoxious old woman. There was no breakfast…read moreon offer when I stayed but I was still expected to pay the full price. My room was horrible: an ancient kettle which was unsafe to use as it had no on/off switch, set up right underneath a TV and overcrowded multi-socket extension lead - basically an accident waiting to happen. Unwashed coffee cups and glasses. Coffee and tea sachets and biscuits which were years out of date. Uncomfortable bed with smelly linen. The fridge didn't work properly either. No hot water! Dirty shared bathroom with dirty bath and dangerous shower with wonky controls - genuine scald risk. Unreliable WiFi with bad signal. But the worst issue here was the elderly proprietor herself. Her attitude and behaviour are disgraceful. She is insolent and rude towards guests, she invites herself into guests' locked bedrooms and messes about with their belongings, she accuses guests of "being up and making a noise at night" when they haven't done, and she uses fabricated stories like this as an excuse for telling guests they aren't welcome to extend their agreed stay(As if anyone would want to extend their stay in a place this bad anyway). She clearly isn't fit to run a guesthouse in any case. This place should've been shut down on Health & Safety grounds years ago. As it is, please DO NOT stay here when there are plenty of much better hotels and guesthouses in the surrounding area. You deserve better!!

A daily, gorgeous breakfast, that is made with any requests you may have, heartfelt daily conversation that isn't contrived, and daily tidying of the room. I chose to go on my vacation/holiday during my 38th birthday, and much to my surprise, Hazel made me a gift by hand. It was VERY sweet! The guesthouse is very easy to get to from any area in town, smartly appointed, and very easy to park at. There is off-street parking, in fact. You'd be very wise to skip overpriced, soulless places like Travelodge or the Hilton. Keep in mind, that I am here in the middle of winter, and that it is incredibly cosy! Forget the single ridiculous review! These guys are awesome!!! Room Tip: I'm in room 1, and it has a great view over Forfar Road and toward the Sidlaws.
