After that, it changed completely. I never heard directly from the attorney except when I disputed additional charges, and I was told to "read the fine print" instead of having my concerns addressed. Most communication came through two paralegals, who were often short and dismissive. My questions were frequently answered vaguely or not in a way that applied to my situation, and I often had to ask multiple times for clear responses. I was also sent a large amount of redundant paperwork to complete, even though I had already provided much of the same information. I was told my divorce would likely take over a year, despite being married less than two years, with no children, no home, and only shared debts/vehicles. After three months and an $8,000 retainer, the only meaningful progress was serving my ex-spouse. The final straw was when a paralegal sent draft settlement terms to my ex-spouse without my knowledge or permission, before I had a chance to review or approve them. Even after I fired the firm, it took more than two months for them to send my case information to my new attorney, which further delayed my divorce. As someone who had never been through a divorce before, I trusted this firm to guide me through the process. Instead, I was left feeling unsupported, uninformed, and taken advantage of during one of the most difficult times in my life.
