The beach is clean, has easy access from the car, there are public restrooms, and it is big enough for many people to share. There are picnic tables, but you may want to bring your own seats. I'd suggest beach umbrellas also if you want any type of shade. Since it is the sound side, there are no waves and it is 1-2' deep almost everywhere. Check out my pictures for how far out we were and we could have kept going. This was a really fun day, we brought inner tubes and did a lot of floating. People were also jet skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and sail boarding as well. The place is big so we never felt crowded at all. A+ day.

This year we decided to try something new and I have a feeling it's gonna be our new spot for the next few years to come. Not too crowded (at least during mid august) from what we saw but still close to yummy restaurants and local shops. Beautiful beaches with even better sunrises and sunsets. Check it out!

Plus, it's not super busy (one time I was the only one there, and the other there was only 5 others). Matt picked us up from where we were staying. Took us to his boat launch and set out into the sound. Very calm ride near the marshes. Tor was about 1.5 hours on the water. Beautiful sites. Primarily it's used after the tourney so that everyone can get their fish measured and weighed and we also have a charity auction and raffle. The location is spacious and there's always staff on hand to provide biscuits and coffee.

You can still adopt a pony (donate) just like the Corolla Wild Horse Fund, and anything you give goes towards their care, medical, and food. After you arrive from the ferry, it's a very short drive and you'll come up on the pen to the right. Do not interfere with or feed them, but if you're lucky and the staff are feeding them you might have the opportunity to assist. There is a platform for better viewing, as they are gorgeous, sentient creatures, and you can sit peacefully and admire them from a safe distance.

Very reasonably priced at $35, and the perfect place to fit in your workouts during vacation. Which is a good thing given how many great restaurants there are here. The gym is cozy but never feels crowded, and it has everything you need. There are free weights, a few machines, and cardio. Upstairs is a studio space for yoga and other classes. There's a bathroom, a sauna, towels and water, as well as television and music. Everything is clean and in good condition, and the owner is super friendly and helpful if you need anything. Definitely worth the few bucks for a week's pass if you want to keep up your workout routine out here on this gem of an island.
