The space is really nice, very large, Argentinian-style and it even has a stage for occasional performances. So why a bad rate?
Few minor issues, before the main one: dirty toilet, scarce availability of beers (less than half of the selection of beers on the menu was available) and a misleading yelp discount (25% off the second drink if the first was more than 3€, we were a group, and the coupon did not specify that the discount applied only to the person with yelp account, although for the staff it was clear).
Still these don't make for a 1-star review (it should be 0 if it was possible). What granted them the poor score is one of the worst staff and example of customer care I have ever experienced.
Here is what happened. We pay in cash and we got the wrong change. Not a big deal, we tell so to the waiter, and hope it will be fixed soon.
WRONG! The waiter and the other guy at the counter argued that the change was correct, that I was confused, and that they did not need to double check because they were entirely sure of what they saw (they used some heavy words like, "It's our word against yours", "You look nervous so maybe you don't see things properly", "We don't need to double check because we know what we see").
After some minutes arguing, they finally agreed on giving me the right change, as if it was a favor and they were still sure they were right.
Quite some time later, the waiter comes back to our table and apologizes, the mistery was solved (surprisingly I was right!).
They charged us twice because of lack of communication between the staff and what we got was the change of the change.
At this point you expect an apology and maybe a treat (I felt deeply accused and insulted), which could have spared them this poor review, but we were wrong again. It was not really their fault because they work under pressure and they are stressed, I was too aggressive and this made things worse. How funny!
Conclusion: if you think that the customer is always right, at La Tinta Roja you have to think again, because you would be certainly wrong! read more
