I loved visiting the ESPN campus in Bristol,CT! First of, tours are not open to the public and you can only get in if an Employee signs you up. I am grateful to my friend who is a producer at ESPN for arranging the tour. Though I am not really a sports fan (with the exception of Hockey!), I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the different studios and learning about the different programs. The campus is like a mini city filled with be people passionate about sports coming from all over the world to work there. I got to meet Adnan Virk, the sports reporter, who is also a fellow Canadian. I definitely recommend the tour to anyone who is able to get in! read more

ESPN's MLB broadcasts are awful!!!!! I want to watch a game called by announcers who know the teams. Instead they are talking OVER the game, making us listen to INTERVIEWS about NOTHING instead of the games, and generally trying to impress with their news knowledge. I'm watching the Dodgers-Giants and they're talking about Camden Yards (!) after minimizing the game to interview a stadium worker. Ruf just singles and they didn't say a word about it. ESPN is ok, I like ESPN for baseball coverage mainly, especially when they televise a A's or Dodger game which is when I definitely will watch ESPN but of course the A's hardly ever get televised by ESPN while it's great to see the Dodgers get more attention now though, you definitely have heard about them a lot more ever since Manny came to the team last year. I just hate how all they care about is ratings and I hate their East Coast bias. read more

Do NOT sign up for ESPN+! I signed up for $49.95 a yr ago & was never able to access it to watch UFC fights so I called the 800-727-1800 # to cancel. I was told it was cancelled but I could still access it for rest of yr if I wanted. Well kinda hard when it doesnt work....Now a yr later I just got my credit card bill for last cycle & they charged me AGAIN! So I just called that 800# & spoke with a customer care rep, Sirif who said he sees I never used or accessed the site but wont refund the charge i NEVER authorized. I asked to speak with his supervisor & he agreed but said he wont help me either. Matt, who says he's the highest point of contact said he wont refund my charge I never authorized either. So how the heck am I supposed to get away from this fraudulent membership?! You call to cancel & are told its cancelled but they continue to charge you & all you are told is they can't refund the $49.95 but will "cancel" your membership. What I'm about to do and say might ruffle some feathers. The result of which has yet to be determined, but for a visionary and the self proclaimed worldwide leader in sports to receive an unfavorable review is unfathomable and downright incomprehensible. We take magic carpet rides of sorts here on my reviews, where we go back to places of distant past and see where the seed gets planted and the ideas of change begins to grow. Hold the carpet tight as we fly back to 1979 and notice a visionary, dressed in his green plaid slacks and white patent leather shoes, trying to change the world, to innovate, to do something different.... trying to provide an outlet to an area that was previously untouched. The idea was simple in theory, yet daunting in its execution. Develop a model similar to the young blood cable news networks and dedicate it solely to sport. Brilliant!! Instead of having drone newscasters lead your programming, have yours develop personalities... be characters if you will, worthy of representation and be the front facing image of the network. Now as our carpet gently glides back to present day, our guitar gently weeps at the place we are today. We find that same network who has most often been identified by the program that placed it on the map.. SportsCenter. A program that hasn't breathed a breath of life in about 10 years. We live in a time where social networked blogospheres rule the roost and youth prevails. They are the news breakers, the top analysts who are listening to the movements occurring in major sports. This youth and energy will plant the same seeds of change the same way your network did decades before. As a corporation you need to seize these ideas to grow and move Sportscenter and the ESPN networks in a new direction. A direction that recognizes the growing world we reside in, but also respect the interconnection between our lives. The formats of the programs are no longer aimed at the youth of sport, but rather a demographic different than the original goals set out by Mr. Rasmussen. The original intent of providing an outlet for sports fans to experience 24hr coverage has been lost. Your biased views on certain teams and certain players is clearly noticed. I am afraid to see what will occur once Tim Tebow takes the field, because what you've already displayed with Bret Farve and Lebron James is unprecedented. The spectacle that was "The Decision" has further soured our taste for your network. Never have I seen an athlete directing the programing and nature in which it was aired. "Wrong Decision". We are sports fans from birth. Our passion and intensity for our sports is unique. Ok, admittedly I have two passions in life; sports and my religion. One is a private preoccupation, the other, a community experience. ESPN has been in financial trouble for a long time, and they are definitely an example of being too big for their britches with their portfolio of networks and the sports magazine. One of the problems is that each sport has its own network (NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL-even SEC college!). Translation: no reason to watch the ESPN variety show. Even MLB offers a package to buy a season pass for your own individual team. Now having said that, if I can subscribe to that for the low price of 87 dollars a year, ESPN's offerings of their occasional baseball game from who knows where, becomes irrelevant. Variety shows were a great thing when you had limited choices, but like the 70's, when cable arrived and more independent stations came about, shows like the Ed Sullivan Show, or the Glenn Campbell Good Time Hour, were phased out. ESPN had some rhythm in the late 80's early 90s. but they lost a lot of their popular talent, and have lost more during their recent purge. Olbermann, despite what you might think of his politics was a career sports journalist, as were others. Now, you have people reporting that I recognize as hard journalist field news reporters doing sports reporting. I'll even go so far as to say they're trying to develop fake personalities in a bid to be the next Cosell, Berman, or Madden. Nope, we can smell a fake, and personally, smart I like, smart a$% I don't. This will play itself out and either downsize, or go the way of Blockbuster Video, and might I say the whole sports radio talk format will be reduced as well. read more

this review is not for the east coast headquarters in bristol conn .no its for the self centered , arrogant , sarcastic , wise ass , know it all, sh#t don't stink tv and radio personality . i love sports especially football and baseball plus with all the other major sports covered what could be wrong . well the reason we enjoy and watch sports is to escape the crap that goes on in the world and in the beginning of espn that was it's goal by showing live sports events and give us all the highlights in the evening if we miss a game during the day . they do a great job covering events but the extreme liberal rants are to much for me and that's the same if it was ultra right slant as well . from steven a. smith to jemele hill, dan le batard, skip bayless , and the rest of the espn employees who's motto is -it's about me first and sports is second and third . i enjoyed espn when it's was about derek jeters home run on a friday night to win the game or kobe bryants three pointer as time expired or that incredible throw that peyton manning made to marvin harrison in overtime , that's what's sports is about for me and not if i look good on camera ( must admit cari champion is stunning ) . so for me i only watch espn when a football game is on that's not on regular tv or some other sports game that you can only watch on espn . read more

I find it quite revealing about ESPN's basic ideology when the decision was first made to NOT run that religious/Christmas add because it mentioned Jesus and Christmas. Once ESPN took it on the chin for such an ungrounded decision, they decided that, for public relations aspect of their business, that maybe they should reconsider that position. Their halfway relent was to run that religious/Christmas ad on their PPV channel ESPNU ensuring that, 1) the beat down would stop, and 2) not many would actually see the ad when it would run during some obscure college football game. How nice! I have to say that my interest in ESPN was getting lower by the month and now is getting even lower with the knowledge that they lean hard left and have revealed their actual reasons for how they treated guys like Tim Tebow. The shame of ESPN is that so many young people watch this programming and have been inundated with ESPN's anti-religious platform. If you doubt the sincerity of their dislike of the Tim Tebows of this sports world, how often has anyone on ESPN criticized a baseball player for crossing himself before hitting or after reaching first base safely? or any other sportsman for showing his religion during a game other that the aforementioned Mr. Tebow??..............I won't even mention how they treated Rush Limbough for his remarks about football quarterbacks. Your new Sportscenter AM show is a travesty. I can only compare it to being forced to watch a 15-year old girl on her cell phone. There is no clear path followed and apparently no highlights from actual games played the prior day. This morning I was forced to watch someone juggling a chair with their feet, followed by a Best Dunk (NBA), followed by a best shot (Golfer hitting spectator), followed by best ball movement (NBA), and followed by another "best of". No highlights, no scores...just horrible broadcasting. I guess it's on to Foxsports while watching TV and CBS Sports while online because ESPN, you have failed! read more
