The deli and cheese counter has a great selection as well as great service. The bread and pastry section is very varied and anything I get, I loved. The meat and fish section is also very varied with lots of options for all budgets. That is for the left side of the Market as you walk in. The right side of the Market is more standard, but well laid out and again, a great variety. The service is really superb, there is rarely a lineup and you have a cashier and bagboy almost all the time at every counter. There is now a small food court to enjoy your food on the go and there is some live music from time to time.

Accessibility was a little tricky at first, the fully accessible entrance with automatic doors closes about two hours earlier than the rest of the store. When I arrived the first time, the staff were incredibly kind and helped lift me and my wheelchair over the small step at the front, which I really appreciated. Once inside, the aisles are spacious, well-marked, and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. Anything that was out of reach wasn't an issue at all because the staff were very friendly and happy to help. We made it work with their English and my French, which made the experience more enjoyable. My return visit the next morning was much smoother since it was daylight and I already had a sense of layout. The staff were even friendlier the second time around. The hot food was really good--maybe not as much variety as I'm used to, but still very satisfying. The chicken wings were fresh, hot and well prepared, the potato wedges were well seasoned, large and hot! Checkout was quick and easy, with registers at both the front and back of the store. For my fellow Washington, DC friends, the best way for me to describe this Mediterranean market is to ask you close your eyes and picture a magical place that combines H-mart, Wegmans, Lenanese Taverna market, a local Halal butcher and a grand bakery all under one large roof.... Yes, that is Adonis... For those of you in Canada that don't know what an H-mart or Wegmans is...no worries as you can go to Adonis and rest assured its a good thing. Aisles after aisles of wonderful products from the Middle East, the Mediterranean and all over the world. Fresh produce stacked up high with the bright color lit up even more by the natural light pouring in from the grand windows. To walk into Adonis is to experience sensory overload as you mind screams, "I want that! And that! Oooh! And that too!!" Just when you thought you saw the best of the store, you'll come across the baked good section and the "grill" area. OMG...food heaven. The baked goods has sweet treats that will make any dieter cheat and a fellow fat boy like me cry with delight. You have cookies, baklava, fruit tarts, chocolates, eclairs...EVERYTHING your heart can desire. But before you dive into a sweet treat, you spot today's tasty offerings at the grill. Walking over to the grill (see my pix) there is a plethora of traditional Lebanese type dishes. Just crazy... Yet despite the madness of the checkout lines...Adonis, you have made me a fan! This IGA - aside from being amazing in all the ways I described in my original review - seems to be setting the standard for how to properly operate under the current conditions so I wanted to share in the hopes of other grocery stores following their lead. When you arrive here, all the doors are closed except for one and when you enter that one there's a portable handwashing station like you'd see outside portopotties at a festival. So everyone is washing their hands as they enter. Then they are given a cart which has just been wiped down by the staff. Staff are also circulating wiping down the handles of fridge doors etc. Cashiers are using sanitizer between every customer and as you leave your cart is immediately wiped down again. This loving attention will save lives in our community and I really really appreciate it.

Everything was well-organized and the staff seemed friendly. My wife and I are visiting, we're staying at a hotel with a refrigerator and stovetop so got frozen beef, fresh mushrooms and package noodle soups that we could make for snacks. We didn't get too much because we intend to experience the local restaurants and businesses. I can't comment on how the prices normally are but it seemed like they reasonable by current U.S. standards. We used the self-check out which was straight forward.

I purchased these cute steamed character buns (because why not?). I was also so happy to find this one particular tea bag that is honestly one of the best Hong Kong style, but hard to find back at home in the US where I am from. The price at this particular location was pretty good since this item was on sale (but even at the full price, it is still cheaper than buying it back at home) and wished I had purchased all the remaining boxes to bring back home since the T&T Supermarket in Ottawa sells these at a higher price. When we came back for a second visit, it was nice to see an employee at the jian bing (Chinese crepe) station, since it was not available to be made fresh when we had visited the night before. I am not sure what the price was but kind of regret not having one made fresh for us during this second visit (this is the only supermarket that I have seen that even has this available inside a market. The Asian markets I have frequent back at home have wheel cakes made fresh for purchase though). I like that there is a large dining area in which you sit and eat your food items with a actually a few different places you can choose from (including outside). The apples had brown lines inside and I decided to take them back. The manager who came to process the problem was aggressive and disbelieving of my complaint and told me that I only had 48 hours to return the produce. He eventually took them back but I was made to feel that I was in the wrong and he gave me a story that they spot checked fruit from the cartons. I offered that he should open up any of the untouched apples I was returning - I knew they were all bad. He declined and eventually gave me a refund. An altogether unpleasant experience. I don't know this man's name but I can find out who it was. They could do better and the manager could have been more accommodating and less could have had a less distasteful attitude.
