Have to write a review here for the ihalokrunch ice cream not so much the cafe itself. But dang it was too good not to write a review for this place. We enjoyed the Ube nut (Charcoal coconut) and the Matcha flavoured ice cream. The mix between the two flavour in one is absolutely out of the world. It was not overly sweet. The black charcoal coconut flavour really comes through. The staff was friendly and also making some great recommendations. Love this place. I'll return again for sure for seconds.
I do not recommend this place whatsoever. I chose this place for a girls day brunch. Thought it was cute with a patio and nothing fancy. But nope. The "service"..... well there was no service. It was not even busy for a Sunday morning. We were a table of 4. We ordered 4 dishes. Only 3 came out. No one came to check on us. We waited over 15 min until one girl came out to clean the tables. She had to check the order and tell us only 3 orders were put in. Waited another 15 min for it to come out. I ordered a sangria and it was NOT a sangria. The manager looked out of it. I went back in to ask if it was a sangria or mojito. She took too long to answer and mumbled sangria. It was not good at all. I should've returned it. $16!! For that . THEN. The rest of the time. No one ever came back out to the patio. We were the only ones there. No one checked on us. Asked us about the bill. I had to go back in again and ask for the bill. All 3 workers were behind the counter just talking and laughing. Not working. Never again. $40 wasted on this place. I do not recommend for mediocre food. Bad service. Don't waste your time here. 3.9 Google reviews. I should pay more attention. IG videos are deceiving. I fell for it. Boo on me
This review is for the coffee and cheesecake only. I came by after dinner for coffee and dessert. The Flat White was bold and truly delicious. It woke me up instantly. The chocolate cheesecake was sourced from The Cheesecake Factory. It was, as expected, heavy, creamy and tasted richly chocolaty. It almost felt like eating fudge; it was that rich. Expresso 21 is a pretty good cafe. I liked what I had. I probably would return for more coffee and cake. Will recommend.
Woke up to a beautiful sunny day, thought what to do, hey let's go to Unionville for a meal. Got there before 1130 before the mad rush of local tourists. Small quaint restaurant with a typical benny, sandwich, salad, pasta menu. Also have a cake counter and soft serve ice cream machines. The salmon benny was excellent, hollandaise sauce was citrusy on point, bread toasted well and eggs runny. Came with a large side of seasoned fries, soft not crispy. Ordered the roast beef panini however it actually was made with a baguette which was flavorful and crispy. Could have used more protein however the combination of roast beef, bread,greens and dressing produced a good overall flavor profile. Friends ordered the salmon salad and the lox/avocado toast, both were huge portions and looked good, friends were not disappointed. Good food, good friends, great small town atmosphere, life is good and then back to reality
We didn't try the cafe, we actually tried the iHalo ice cream only. Since last time at an Expo, I tried a black colour ice cream from the ice cream truck, I loved it already. It was barely see black colour ice cream before. And I forgot to catch the brand name from the truck last time. This time I couldn't wait when I heard that there is one at iHalo. And it sold in this cafe. The store was little, but it was cute too. Good for small group of friends, family to have brunch, tea time, or take a rest after walked along the Unionville St. We aimed to the ice cream, so we didn't look at other stuff, but seems they have professional coffee machines and different types of cakes, and so on. I had the 3 colors (taro, coconut in black and matcha) with crone, my husband had 2 colours (black & matcha) with cup, his couldn't be twisted shape, because those 2 colours are not default mix, mine was default 3 twist together. I thought the black one was black sesame flavour, but the staff told us it actually is coconut flavour in black. Anyway, they tasted so good. We didn't wait too long to get my ice cream, we walked out to take some pictures, the staff sent our 2nd ice cream outside to us. So nice! There is outdoor patio, the space is a bit tight. But if you enjoy the sun, it would be a good choice.
Quiet and cozy brunch spot on Main St Unionville. They serve great brunch classics like eggs Benedict, paninis, and pasta with a variety of caffeinated drinks (coffees, lattes, cappucino). Staff took our order a few minutes after we were seated and our food came within 15-20min of ordering. Overall I would come back for the food and coffee. The tables are placed close together so not much room to put bags or jackets. Staff service on a weekday seems average, they won't come to check in but are attentive if you ask for something you need like a takeout box or the bill.
Really good brunch spot at Main St. unionville! I've seen a lot of Instagram posts for this place, so finally decided to stop by. I've ventured in for some drinks and desserts before, but decided it was time to get brunch! FYI they also have a downtown locations. Ordered the vegetarian eggs Benedict and a blue matcha latte. Service was friendly and prompt. The eggs Benny was nice - runny yolk and tasty - good hollandaise sauce. The salad was fresh and tasty. I also liked the matcha blue latte - it was nice although I'm not sure what makes it blue - tasted very sweet. I came in right at 10 and it was empty, but by 11 it got super packed. All in all a solid spot with nice ambience. I'd definitely go back for the coffee vibes.
Honestly one of the worst places I've been to. My girlfriends family and I were looking to get some brunch when we stumbled upon this restaurant. The aesthetic is alright, but it feels slightly cramped which bothered me a bit. The prices were on the slightly higher side, which I assumed was due to the large portion sizes, but when I got my order of the roast beef panini I was extremely disappointed. For service, my girlfriend and I first had to be separated on different tables from her parents. I was fine with this as it was extremely busy and appreciated that they helped us sit as we were extremely hungry. Fortunately, before we sat down, a waiter allowed us to move to a different table so we could all be sitting together, which I appreciated. As you can see from the picture, the roast beef was extremely scarce; there were only 3 thinly sliced pieces of the roast beef, which is almost unnoticeable under the spring mix. After taking my first bite, the only recognizable tastes were the bread and the tomato. I enjoyed eating the salad and potatoes more than the actual main dish, which thoroughly disappointed me. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. The service and aesthetic was not bad, but the food was deplorable ,especially for the prices. I would not recommend going here as there are many other places that are much better for a cheaper price.
Cute little brunch spot in the beautiful Unionville Main Street that's perfect for a girls hangout or a date. As the cafe is quite small, reservations are recommended. They don't seem to have high chairs for younger kids as well. Menu wasn't quite inspiring for me. They serve a few eggs Benny, paninis and pasta. The smoked salmon eggs Benny was alright, nothing spectacular or special. The muffin bread was a tad bit tough for my liking. Service was a bit slow. I like that they have iHalo Krunch ice cream served here as well.
My friend and I tried this place for first time as most restaurants aren't opened on a weekday lunch and it has a pretty good rating. It was crowded (in the front), we ordered 2 coffees, it came pretty quick but food takes forever! If I don't follow up after 30mins, I bet it will never come. Not just happened to us, but happen to all the tables around us. I ordered tuna salad, it's good. But the egg Benedict my friend ordered is warm, and she wasn't so happy. When they serve me, She just dumped the plate in front of me, I believe that's the owner (Chinese woman in 50s) and she didn't look pleasant at all. I would say ... if you only come for coffee and cakes it's good, don't order hot food! And sorry I won't come again.

I got the vegetarian eggs benedict ($14), which was actually a perfect portion of food. I'm a bit unsure why the eggs were well done instead of runny like typical eggs benedict eggs. Additionally, although personally filling enough for my stomach, other brunch places have better portions for their side potatoes. All things encompassed, it was a good meal, and I really enjoyed their pink sauce! SERVICE | The servers were so sweet and gave me a lot of menu suggestions. They also offered to bring my friend's dog some whipped cream! AMBIENCE | The seating areas are a bit close together, especially on the patio. VERDICT | Good place for breakfast or a cup of coffee in Unionville.
This is quaint cafe that popped up during the start of COVID right on Main St Unionville. The storefront has a little patio that you can sit down at, but bear in mind the heavy foot traffic by the road. They didn't have any cold brews or iced coffees, so I opted for an iced americano instead, with a splash of milk. We also got an iced strawberry cream latte. The americano was a pretty standard darker roast flavour. The strawberry latte was really tasty but just a tad bit too sweet. The cold drinks come with paper straws, so will eventually get soggy if you take too long to finish. They also had cakes in their refridgerated display. The service was really nice and hospitable. Will likely be back especially when the Starbucks line is too long.
Came here on a Saturday to grab lunch. The cafe was pretty busy and while all the staff were very friendly, it was pretty chaotic. They took our order, which was a cortado, latte and 2 orders of egg benedicts. Our drinks came but our food never showed up. The staff never checked on us again after initially taking our order. It wasnt until I asked one of the staff to check on our food that they discovered it was never put through in their system. Mind you, we had been sitting there for 45 mins. At this point, I was already fairly annoyed so we told the staff that we'd be paying for the drinks and taking our leave. They were kind enough to ask if there was anything they could do and offered us 2 free croissants. We were told that it happens when they get busy, but really, I expect better if you're looking to run a busy cafe in Unionville Main St. Im sure their food is wonderful but won't be visiting again.
This cafe and restaurant is located in one of the most relaxing Unionville neighborhoods and they are serving brunch, mains and desserts all year round. Their interior and exterior fixtures added aesthetics to the already cozy environment of the restaurant. What we got: Shrimp cake eggs Benedict - very unique take on the eggs benedict dish - I liked it Smoked salmon Panini Shrimp salad - very huge portion Lobster tail shrimp pasta - the pasta was so flavorful that I enjoyed it more than the lobster Surf and turf - came with steak, lobster tail, veggies and fries Godiva double chocolate cheesecake - tried and tested! Been occasionally visiting Espresso 21 since it opened. The coffees and drinks are great. Good variety to make each visit a bit different. Enjoy this cozy spot for a small coffee with 1-2 friends. It's got a cute vibe for great pics. read more

Staff: 5 food presentation: 5 drink: if they have actual sugar taste of food: 1, I admit my taste bud is on the stronger taste (salty) side, however, most of the food basically tasteless even for my friends who came with, then that's a bit too much. read more

Ordered smoked salmon egg Benedict which is a complete fail....the potatoes side dishes are cold. The eggs are over cooked and doesn't run at all..The chef did make us another one after we complained. (It is still bad tho...) The spaghetti carbonara however is very good. Not sure however... if we will come back. It's kind of disappointed. read more

This spot has the coziest interior and cutest patio! They offer everything from eggs bennies to even lobster spaghetti and braised short rib! They also have a pretty extensive drink menu from coffee to dragon fruit cheese slushies. I got an Iced Latte with 1 pump vanilla and 1 pump caramel syrup with oat milk. Really enjoyed the drink as their espresso is nice and strong, to really balance out the sweetness from the syrups. Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for a coffee fix or looking for something to eat! read more

One of the worse brunch. Don't really know how the food blogger can rate this as hidden germ in Markham to be honest. Ordered take out during the pandemic, and already expected the quality is not going to be the same as dine in. However, cant believe it doesnt meet basic standard but the price is expensive. Is even worse than some HK style cafe. Ordered :Carbonara and Penne Arabiatta with Spicy Shrimp. Carbonara was blend, not much taste except cream. The egg totally failed, the centre is like hard boil egg. To be honest I had take out at other cafe in which they serve carbonara as well. However, even it is take out the egg is still perfect, so don't try to blame that it is take out. Penne Arabiatta with Spicy Shrimp can only taste spicy, not much other taste at all. It cost 19 dollars. The baguette wasn't toast and it's cold, there is no butter or garlic butter as shown on IG. Whatever the food blogger posted is totally off, either the resto cannot keep up the food quality or the picture is just a scam. Just giving my honest opinion. One of the worse brunch spot. Maybe their coffee or cheese cake might be better. However, not going to come back. With that price, can simply go to another cafe with more top notch food but even cheaper price. read more

Came back because of the hollandaise sauce but was utterly disappointed. They changed the sauce so it is no longer the beets hollandaise sauce. It was just a regular smoke salmon eggs benny that I can get anywhere else. Not worth the price. read more

This is really a 3.5 but you can't select 1/2 stars. I decided to give this place another try after my last visit. Not much has changed but I can't say It's improved by much. The service seems to be faster. I got my drink and pastry brought to my table quickly, the drink was perfect and they even warmed my pastry for me. I came to study and there was plugs and space available. The cons -for someone who seems to be a supervisor she can not answer questions about the menu. I asked what the braised ribs came with she said "just meat, maybe salad and bread" maybe???? -the supervisor takes her mask off to prepare drinks and only placed it back on when I asked - I came at 4pm on a Friday and they told me the kitchen was closed. They have an extensive menu but most was unavailable for some reason. read more

The weather was nice and sunny last weekend. I decided to sit outdoor since it's COVID now. Social distancing was not practised very good. People lined up with social distance with the help of stickers on floor but there were customers sitting there as well. Servers were not aware of that at all. It's quite messy at patio. They did not cleaned the table and even they did, they did not sterilize the tables and chairs or change of the table cloth. Service was quite slow. The other table had to checked with them twice. Food and beverage is good. However I found it quite disturbing when they took their promotional photos just next by us. The gal who took photos totally ignored the rule of social distancing and moved around a lot. Kind of disappointed. read more

Espresso 21 is a cute cafe located in Main Street Unionville. This cafe has all your classic brunch foods such eggs benedict, avocado toast, and pancakes. I've had the salmon eggs benedict and the portions were super generous. For takeout, they've done a good job in packaging it as the benedict was still warm when I got it. The LINGUINE CARBONARA was AMAZING and so flavourful. The prosciutto and parmigiano cream sauce was so rich and truly melted in my mouth. I have to visit again for their mille crepes and cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Factory. The interior is so cute and they have even have a variety of cookies and pastries at the front! There's so many different options for everyone that you can come and grab a new item every time! read more
WTF do they put in their so-called "ice cream"? This is not ice-cream. This is some kind of chemically modified ****. The roof of my mouth was covered in some kind of weird film after eating this ice-cream. I could taste weird white bits of some kind of modified dairy product that had nothing to do with milk or ice cream. Seriously, WTF is in their soft serve ice cream mix???? Despite great service, I'm NEVER coming back to Espresso 21 for ice cream. There are much better options available on Main Street. read more

1 star is overrated, so many problems with this café. - misinformation - risk of unsafe food handling - poor customer service - poor staff management - risk of foodborne illness - poor food quality Ordered Vanilla Oat Shaken Espresso and Caramel Macchiato, both tasted the same and sucked. So we gave the benefit of the doubt for their food, but their food is worse. Not only did we wait 40 mins to be served, but this café managed to get an A+ for the worst bennies I've ever had. English muffins were so hard, it was difficult to cut through. The poached eggs were undercooked, parts of the whites were gooey and transparent. If you have any allergies, beware. Come at your own risk. I don't think this café knows what they use in their dishes. The carbonara pasta was served with bread that looked like either olive oil with herbs or pesto (traditionally made with pine nuts) spread on top. Since my bf is allergic to pine nuts, the waitress went to the kitchen to ask if there was pesto used and came back to tell us "the kitchen has no idea what I was asking". Another server claimed it was just olive oil, no pine nuts or pesto was used. Bf ended up having an allergic reaction of tingling tongue and swelling throat after ONE bite of the pasta. Either they don't know the ingredients to pesto or there was cross contact as there's a pesto dish on their menu. We brought the concern up to the staffs behind the counter, one guy (with sunglasses and orange shirt) we spoke to claimed they don't use pine nuts. It just seems like they were trying to disregard the matter. This was our first visit. Never coming back again. They have so many 5 stars google reviews because they were bribing consumers with a free beverage for a 5-star review. The carbonara they served was half cooked. The noodles were still crispy. The poached eggs were like boiled eggs. This is by far the worst restaurant I've been to. Service was also very bad read more

Would not recommend this place for brunch. We paid almost $25 for the Eggs Benedict with salmon and the food was served cold. The toast was very soggy and the egg was hard boiled, as if the dish was just microwaved a few seconds ago and served to us. There was also a funny taste in the water they gave us which made the entire experience very unpleasant. read more

Came here Sunday morning wanting to try something new. Walked in and ordering was slow and a mess, seems like staff was not familiar with protocols Ordered eggs Benedict with belly bacon and spaghetti carbonara. 1. Eggs Benedict with belly bacon - felt like I was scammed in broad daylight, came with 2 sunny side up eggs, 6 pieces of potatoes and a strand of green, and importantly missing my "belly bacon" told the staff which was a mission tracking one down and they went back and came back out with 2 slices of bacon - looks like Eggs Mart does a better job and a better price lol (check out my pic and you will understand) 2. Spaghetti was ok and decent thank god 3. Mocha tasted like crap and came out when the meal was done - we asked for it in a "to go" cup and the drink went back for 15 mins to get put in a "to go" cup Saw many other patrons looking agitated with the long waits for their drinks too, be prepared to wait 20+ mins for your drink if coming here Might as well stick to elephant grind, alchemy, a corner cafe and platform Definitely not coming back read more
This is a cute & cozy cafe offering a great selection of drinks & brunch dishes! A chai latte will always be my go-to but the one here didn't have a really strong flavour as the DT Toronto location. I also wanted to try something else & the staff recommended their iced coconut coffee latte which was actually quite impressive! read more

A cute little brunch spot located in Unionville. They had quite a variety of brunch items from sweet to savory, where I decided on savory (getting the egg Benedict with salmon) and my friend got the French toast. It was cool to see that this place also offered Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes but unfortunately I was so full after I didn't get a chance to get one! The chef also came back upon presenting the food and also helped me set up the food to look better for my picture and for eating. He was very sweet. My only down point was that there was a special offer for a mug which I noticed after ordering and when I asked about it they mentioned having to order a specific drink which we had already finished ordering a drink and thus was left without a mug. But it's not too disappointing because the food was delicious and I was super full especially with the big amount of greens that came with the eggs Benedict. I did try a little bit of the French toast and I have to say it was Devine and heavenly! I definitely will come back another time and maybe this time try one of their cheesecakes along with one of their sweeter desserts. Their lunch menu also looked pretty appetizing with various pasta options. Overall it's a cute cafe full of variety of brunch and lunch options. They also had cool Toronto artwork on the walls making it nice to let your eyes wander while you wait for your food. read more
