Online, I saw an offer: one-month membership for $42.99, taxes and fees included, "NO COMMITMENT." I walked in and politely asked for this. I was approached by Ben Stiller with a faux hawk. He informed me, with confidence and the energy of a used car salesman, that i would instead need a 90-day membership. I explained that I am only in town for one month. He asked where I live. I said California--and that I already have a gym and a sauna there. He immediately pivoted to asking if I have classes. (Like clearly I told you twice I don't want to join.) For a brief moment I thought, oh man, he got me. Then I remembered, and I said to him defiantly, "Actually... I have a personal trainer." He said, "you can get a year and pay month to month or 90 days." So I said, "No problem, I'll just pay online since it says right here I can but one month no commitment." I walked out to my car, credit card in hand, but as I was about to input the numbers, I googled the cancellation policy. Turns out cancellation requires 30 days' notice. RED FLAG I walked back inside and asked, "So if I pay today, do I cancel today?" Ben Stiller faux hawk said no--because I must get a 90-day membership. I said, "That's not what it says online." He said, "I'm telling you now in here--you need the 90-day deal." It was like he was subliminally saying, "Here at Globo Gym, we're better than you... and we know it." I tried again: "But it says online no commitment." He said, "but you're here and I'm saying 90 days." I said, "that's a commitment, Nowhere on this form does it say 90 days ." He said, "But you're here." I left and immediately called LA Fitness, because "nobody makes me bleed my own blood." I asked them "Do you have a one-month membership?" "Yes--$75." "Does it include the sauna?" "Yes." "Classes?" "Yes." "Do I have to cancel?" "No, it just falls off." I nearly wept to the LA Fitness guy. She gave me a full tour, walked me through the schedule, set me up with a mat and towel and explained everything I needed to know about the sauna and what to expect. She even checked in on me halfway through my session just to make sure I was good. At the end she took the time to go over all my membership options knowing I'm from out of town but trying to stay on top of my fitness. That kind of attention and care goes a long way. The free class was a great way to experience everything and I left genuinely impressed. If you haven't tried it yet, go. You won't regret it.

I was shocked and very uneasy watching this occur. Saw the entire altercation. Man was using equipment, another member wanted to use the machine, when the current user got an attitude, the member chest bumped the current user of the machine and then shoving the current user very hard. I was worried the man was going to hit his head on the machine. Of course, no one told them to stop, it kept going, finally a member who I have seen there many times went to the front desk to ask Steve to break it up. The member who asked Steve for help left right away, you could see he was uncomfortable. Bunch of wimps at this gym, no one tried to stop it. Everyone was watching, finally Steve comes out. So one member is assaulted by another member and the owner, Mrs. Babushka (That's not her real name, it's Francine, all she cares about is money) does nothing, doesn't call the police or ask both members to leave. Pathetic, they made everyone really uncomfortable and I don't feel safe at this gym anymore. She did nothing, they both started using weights again. This makes no sense to me. I am tired of people pretending they don't see anything and don't say anything. So, I went to speak with Mrs. Babushka. I asked her why the 2 men that were fighting have not been asked to leave. She snarled at me and said "Don't worry about it, we working on it". Why don't you learn to speak properly and address my concerns in a professional matter. This place relys on shady business tactics to keep you paying each month. and godforbid you need to get a new credit/debit card(like me when mine stopped working) I was charged an extra $21 in "dues" since I was forced to get a new card, stay away and save your sanity

Unfortunately corporate LA Fitness neuters and handicaps them and their staff after the renovation by having literally 1/2 the machine equipment they had previously. But 8 cage stations. Crazy. I mean - for sure the FGCU students use it, but this area is not called God's Waiting Room for no reason! What's with the lack of equipment??? I'm sure it makes the job more difficult for the staff too because many members say the exact same thing .... (I now go South to Naples which too has a great staff and manager (Paul!) to work out and go only to Ft Myers for cardio or a quick visit.)

Called multiple places, none of which had as good reviews as Island Touch Therapeutic Massage. Once I reached out to Ayesha, the owner and massage therapist, it was an obvious choice. I could tell that she truly cared for her business. She was very helpful, very detailed, and even sent me photos of the spa to get a feel for it. Much more pleasant experience on the phone than many of the corporate hotel spas. Because there were 4 in our party, and each person chose 2-3 services, we reserved the entire space for 5 hours and received a great deal on the whole experience. Prices overall are great! Customer service is top notch. The spa feels private and cozy. They decorated for the occasion and we received a beautifully written itinerary upon arrival with all of our massages/facials/foot detoxes/body wraps scheduled, this came with wonderful party favors! This was a total surprise. We appreciated this so much!! Plus, they made us cupcakes and provided tea, coffee, and water. I got my stone massage from Meghann. She was AMAZING. I asked for medium pressure, she knew exactly what she was doing. Her transitions were smooth (this is very hard to find). Truly felt like she enjoys her work! Anne Marie did my dermaplaning facial, 1.5 weeks later my face still feels so smooth! Only thing, would have liked if she wore gloves and mask, simply because it's a facial - you're face to face for a long period. This place exceeded expectations. Thank you all for providing such a wonderful experience for all of us. We were truly pleased! Most importantly, the Bride was HAPPY with the whole experience! Definitely will go back when I'm back in town.
