My complaint revolves around my credit request for a mistake their Fort Myers FL office made in billing me for a personal training charge ($260) while my account was on summer pause. I put my membership on pause effective in May until my planned return to mid-October. I called their office manager (Connor) to request a credit on that $260 training charge explaining obviously I could not have personal training while my membership was on pause. He informed me that LA Fitness does not give credit regardless of the circumstances. When I explained that it would have been impossible for me to get training while my account was on pause, he acknowledged my logic was correct but reiterated that he was not allowed to correct the mistake. I also contacted their corporate customer services department to see if they would resolve this matter. But they too said they would not issue a credit. Logically it does not seem to be good business practice and certainly not good customer service and just further reinforces the negative impression people have in general about the fitness business. I have since cancelled my membership and am pursuing all efforts to get my bill corrected.

Called multiple places, none of which had as good reviews as Island Touch Therapeutic Massage. Once I reached out to Ayesha, the owner and massage therapist, it was an obvious choice. I could tell that she truly cared for her business. She was very helpful, very detailed, and even sent me photos of the spa to get a feel for it. Much more pleasant experience on the phone than many of the corporate hotel spas. Because there were 4 in our party, and each person chose 2-3 services, we reserved the entire space for 5 hours and received a great deal on the whole experience. Prices overall are great! Customer service is top notch. The spa feels private and cozy. They decorated for the occasion and we received a beautifully written itinerary upon arrival with all of our massages/facials/foot detoxes/body wraps scheduled, this came with wonderful party favors! This was a total surprise. We appreciated this so much!! Plus, they made us cupcakes and provided tea, coffee, and water. I got my stone massage from Meghann. She was AMAZING. I asked for medium pressure, she knew exactly what she was doing. Her transitions were smooth (this is very hard to find). Truly felt like she enjoys her work! Anne Marie did my dermaplaning facial, 1.5 weeks later my face still feels so smooth! Only thing, would have liked if she wore gloves and mask, simply because it's a facial - you're face to face for a long period. This place exceeded expectations. Thank you all for providing such a wonderful experience for all of us. We were truly pleased! Most importantly, the Bride was HAPPY with the whole experience! Definitely will go back when I'm back in town.

BEST KEPT SECRET ON THE WEST COAST…read more Last month I flew with friends from Istanbul to Newark to Fort Myers on our way to Sanibel Island. Needless to say by the time we pulled out of the Hertz lot at RSW the three of us were not happy campers. Stiff necks, shoulders, broken backs, cramped legs and sleep deprived, we agreed to find a reputable body worker but were at a total loss on a Saturday. We called a couple of spas at the big hotels, they were all booked by guests but a very kind woman told me about a former physician that had a full-blown holistic healthcare practice 20 minutes outside of Ft Myers. Turns out this guy used to work at a local resort spa before going out on his own. We called and were able to get in without waiting. We were blown away by Dr. Garcia and his spa operation. He insisted we call him Javier though he is an accredited physician in Cuba. He literally turned a suburban home into a suite of treatment rooms complete with infrared sauna, Thai Massage structure, comfortable and warm massage rooms, and a beautiful waiting area with a flat-screen playing the most peaceful scenes, and with walls of organic products (essential oils, soaps, candles, insense, etc) and the most relaxing vibe. More so, Javier spent lots of time with us - we were there for over 5 hours (one of us ran out for food) by the time he worked on all 3 of us. Totally professional and attentive, he took his time explaining what he would be doing and why certain adjustments were required and why specific areas needed work. Dr. Javier created the Convergent Method on his own, and it reminded us of the holistic approach so many bodywork practitioners take in our hometowns of LA and SF - mind, body and spirit. So here's the whole thing in Lehigh Acres. It was crazy to find a West coast mentality in this tiny town. The three of us are admittedly massage and bodywork snobs so we approached his front door with great trepidation, but just minutes after entering it was clear this was a top-notch operation - again, in the middle of nowhere - literally. We were drooling by the time we walked out of there. We promptly drove over the causeway, got onto Sanibel, found our rented house and passed out for 12 hours, woke up feeling great and energized. Amazing! Javier, raise your prices, man, you're worth much more than you're charging. It's not every day a person gets the chance to have bodywork from a trained physician. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And yes, we went back for massage treatments on the way to the airport for the flight home to California. Can't recommend Dr. Javier enough.
