The combination of the heat, the sweat, the stretching, the positions and the candlelight creates a unique environment that benefits both the mind and body...dare I say soul? It's not easy. It's hot and it's a workout. But, the results are well worth it. I am getting better at the poses (asanas) and that in itself is rewarding. If you are considering, I strongly recommend you give it a try! The reception area, studio and locker rooms are all very nice and clean. I brought friends and family, recommended the studio to others, and genuinely believed in the community and values being created. I want to acknowledge my part in what happened. I had a conversation where my frustration came through strongly, and my tone was not how I would have wanted to communicate. I have reflected on that and take responsibility for the way I expressed myself. However, I want to clarify that my frustration was not directed at Victoria or Anahata. I was upset because I felt the studio and its community were not being respected by Emerald Mallard allowing smoking near the studio. My reaction came from caring about a business and space that I had supported for years. After reflecting, I reached out, apologized for my tone, and my apology was accepted. I attended class the following day as planned and believed we had repaired the situation and were moving forward. Instead, shortly afterward, while I was out of town, I received an email ending my membership. I was shocked and hurt that, after what I believed was a resolved conversation, the decision was made without another discussion or an opportunity to understand what had changed. What was most painful was not the decision itself, but the lack of communication and the way it was handled. After years of showing up for this studio as a founding member, I expected a more compassionate and direct conversation. Anahata promotes values like mindfulness, compassion, and communication. Unfortunately, my experience during a difficult moment did not feel aligned with those values. I hope others have a positive experience, but I wanted to share my own experience of feeling dismissed and blindsided after years of support.

Everyone was expected to lay their mats directly on top of other people's sweat, and the weights were still wet and sticky. For a studio at this price point, I would expect much better sanitation practices. Clean equipment and floors aren't just about appearances, they're important for helping prevent the spread of germs and ensuring members feel comfortable. I hope the studio makes cleanliness a higher priority moving forward because otherwise it's a fantastic place to work out.

First off, do not get me wrong, I absolutely love taking my spin cycle class and the two instructors I'll ever go to (Deborah Bredy & Lindsey Bridges) sometimes three when Makenzie instructs, and I have tried the other instructors out and they are NOT for me. For the last year I have watched, experienced, heard from other peers, etc. that the upkeep of the facility is not up to par with; bikes always being broken (for long periods of time), men's and women's restrooms not being up to par with what the customers need; soap (hair & body) in the shower consistently (that is not watered down), water/moisture proof cabinets (that do not collect mildew), more cabinets and add coat rack(s) for their students on the wall by the storage closet by the TRX room and spin class, and let me share with you, a membership here cost a lot more than my membership at Chaminade. So I would assume, sorry for assuming, to have consistency of machines working. Throughout the year I cannot repeat how many times the spin class bikes have been out of commission, them overbooking this specific class, not knowing how many bikes are out of services on the regular, peers sharing with the front desk on what is broken, peers of mine who don't share because, they are simply uncomfortable to do so, and seeing/watching so much miscommunication from student to staff to upper management. It's getting old and fast! When we pay for our membership we don't expect but, demand for the equipment to work consistently - that is not a lot to ask for. It honestly is not, it's common sense. Sorry for being so blunt but, sometimes being blunt gets things done. On another note, I have missed classes because, bikes have been out of service yet not stated they are out of commission but, booked instead for operation. I have used three bikes throughout the past year that were marked as "usable" and were out of commission. My lower back KILLED me the entire 45 minutes. Now that is dedication for one to really like a class, however almost being 40 and sucking up the pain three times I will not do that anymore. It was NOT worth it for the price I pay and others to have bikes that work. People love these classes, as I do, and want to attend these classes. Why, because they are amazing and so much fun! Please please please get your bikes in order - it's a new year and a new way of running Hot Elevation to run with consistency.

The instructor was great, welcoming, and provided a soothing routine. She even served tea and vegan chocolate at the end and some people stayed behind to relax or mingle. There was maybe 10 people so it's pretty intimate which felt nice since a lot of other yoga studios get packed mat to mat. The first class was free which is always awesome, especially for a new experience. They have a class pack as well for a more economical option. I had a little trouble finding the place. It's through the squid row alley by the goodwill and looks like a residence. I was hesitant to knock or open the door because it looked dark but then once you're inside it's clearly a yoga studio. The trails aren't super long to get to cool sites, like seal pups and fern caves, and you get to gaze at beautiful wildflowers and bushes along the way, like giant calla lilies and blackberries. There were also many frogs croaking and birds singing while we were hiking, which created such unexpected symphonies. It also wasn't very crowded. We saw a few groups of casual hikers and a few joggers. There was some construction in areas close to the parking lot that was unsightly and a parking fee, but other than that, everything was just lovely. I can't wait to return to Wilder Ranch for a deeper exploration! [TIP: If you're a serious hiker who's looking for an all day trip, this isn't the location for you. Wilder Ranch is on the easy to medium hike level with trails that are fairly short, like 2.5 miles for one of the popular beach loops. You can, of course, make it a longer hike but exploring multiple trails or crossing the freeway to the other trails, but it is not the kind of location you can get lost. It's perfect for families and people who have a couple hours to spare.]
