Calling it a barbershop doesn't even give it justice; I honestly felt like I got my hair cut in a sophisticated salon. First and foremost, I commend "G the Barber" for abiding by the safety protocols and procedures due to Covid. He requires everyone to wear a mask at all times and he has ample space between the shop chairs. Unlike barbershops I've seen recently in the neighborhood, G checks the temperature of everyone entering the establishment: employees and clients alike. (And he even changes his gloves after doing this, which most people won't: he is godsend!) The experience itself was amazing because G is very conversational and I didn't feel like I was counting down the minutes until my haircut was over. He is so welcoming that I didn't want to leave! Another thing I have to point out is he is a maverick with his tools. At other barbershops I always have to ask them to be smoother with their blades, clean their tools, and to be a little gentler when cutting my hair: sometimes barbers nick you, and that happens. But with G...I felt like he was gliding across my scalp: no complaints or pain! All of his tools were clean and you can easily see his disinfectant/barbicide ready & available. Also, the decor of the shop is immaculate. The chairs are incredibly comfortable and stylish. It was a luxuriously comfortable experience from entry to exit. Thanks, G! I'm super satisfied with my cut and you definitely have a repeat client with me.

But you know, us mama's got take our lil dudes to keep their hair looking tight. So in I'd come w my boy, and the entire vibe changed in an instant. They did this for every woman who walked in w her son, or any man who came in w an under-age young man. I always, always appreciated that. We were regulars and hence did witness on rare occasions things getting a little "out of hand". It was swiftly dealt w and the barbers always apologized. Ralphie's haircuts were always wonderful. It seemed almost all the customers were regulars. There was low turn over of the barbers and it was always great to hear who got married, who had a new baby, what grade the kids are now in, etc. We miss The Shop so much and have yet been able to find such a wonderful spot!

The summer humidity was doing a number on my hair and on a break I sought a solution even though roaming the neighborhood was perhaps unwise. But I found that solution and so much more at The Shop. While I've not seen the flick "Barbershop" I now know it'd be a waste of my time. The Shop was an experience so authentic that there's no way Hollywood could've got it right. New to the neighborhood and did a Google and Yelp search to find Barbers nearby. These fellas were within walking distance and I had an event to attend, so I called to see if they took walk-in's. They did, so I went up the block. Yo!! Glad I did!! They welcomed me with the coolest vibe, Latin beats on the Spotify, and my man Miguel Style was free for me to sit in his seat. Look...by the time he was done, had a Brotha fit for the street and at peace. With the best rates I have seen to DATE, you know I took care of my man financially as a Thank you for such good work, kindness, and care and precision shown. A whole month later, in preparation for a photoshoot, took another trip up the block and my man Miguel welcomed me again with a smile, a Brotha fist bump and hug, and another seat in the chair. He cleaned that kitchen RIGHT on a 1 setting blade, back and sides, pulled out the straight razor and trimmed and shaped my stache, eye brows, and finished it all off with aromatherapy balm and the hot towels. Came in Hot with the Spa treatment and I felt BLESSED! Man...I left there feeling like a King AGAIN, took care of my man financially, and rested assured they'd just won a loyal customer for life. He is deliberate, calm, and thorough. Don't let the old sign outside fool you. If the right people came into here between the guys outstanding skills, his amazing repertoire of stories, and his old fashioned cash register, he could be Instagram famous. Also very honest. I tried to tip him and he refused the tip because he said the prices are posted.

They listened to what I wanted and applied their expertise and art to assure I was happy with the cut. They also had no issue with making certain that I knew the equipment was properly cleaned and they wore masks so I would have no concerns about any health matters. To top it off and make it a great experience, they were warm and kind and personable, so the experience was a pleasure.
