The home was finished in 1889, and was built for lumber baron William Carson. He and his family lived in the home for many years. It was in danger of demolition, as maintaining such large historic homes became costly. A group of local businessmen bought the home in 1950, and turned it into a private club. They have since spent millions and millions of dollars to restore and maintain the home. While it is absolutely beautiful from the outside, unfortunately, it is not open for tours. However, if you happen to know a member of the club, or if you are invited to an event such as a wedding, office party, etc. at the mansion, you can get a tour. It's a very nice home on the inside, and the highlight is the cupola at the very top, which Mr. Carson used to observe his business interests. If you would like to see what the inside looks like, you can Google the phrase , "Carson mansion interior."

It's across from The Pinc Lady Mansion (they don't spell pink with a k for some reason) across the street, another Victorian Queen Ann which is a hotel. You can easily access it if you are passing through Eureka, it's downtown and easy to park. I think this is a must if you are into Victorian architecture.

The place was pretty busy at 8pm and we sat outside since we had our pup with us. I ordered 3 oysters as an app. I had just read that Humboldt Bay provided a large percentage of the oysters consumed in CA and NV so figured I should order some since we're so close to the source! I was surprised when I slurped it down and it was warm but they were delicious and the sauce on top was very flavorful. (That was my fault for not reading the description well enough; I'm just accustomed to eating oysters chilled) For entree's, I went with the Polenta Veghie lasagna and my husband ordered the Italian Mac n cheese. Both dishes were very good and very filling. I loved the crust of the polenta and the eggplant and cheese filling was delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I was impressed with the coziness and warmth of the interior. Great spot for dinner, I'm glad I chose this restaurant!

My wife and I ordered the Italian Mac and cheese, beef bolognese, seafood soup (almost like a cioppino) of the day , and mushroom cobbler. All dishes were amazing and so flavorful. It was hard to pick a favorite but the beef bolognese and soup stood out to me. Our servers were so delightful and incredibly friendly. The ambience is great too; lively and homey. If I am back in town this is the first place I am coming back to. I wish I had this exact restaurant in my area!

Instead of Babes pizza this year my father in law led us to PAUL'S LIVE FROM NEW YORK!!! Rolled into Paul's and examined the menu in a giant pizza booth adjacent to the kitchen. As the fish crew was discussing the order a pizza chef revealed himself over the wall and told us we needed to order the 6-meat King Kong!!! Sign us up brother! I couldn't find King Kong on the menu! Awesome it's top secret. So order up...one 18 inch pepperoni pizza, one hitman, one King Kong, and two sausage rolls. That's a Yelpstar elite order folks. Pizza rolled out piping hot and fabulous. The food was 5-star tasty and from sea to shining sea some of the best NYC style pizza I've tasted. Thanks PAUL'S LIVE FROM NEW YORK! I'll be back.

We stopped by and tried their slice of pizza. Absolutely amazing pizza. The smell, taste was exactly how it is in New York City. We live in North Carolina and we have visited New York City on numerous occasions. This place is on the same leve as Di Farras Pizza, Joe's Pizza , Patsy's Pizzeria. I'm saying that this may be the best pizza outside of New York City. Since we live 3,000 miles away we probably won't make it back but if we do we will stop here and get a slice.
