So Memorial Day weekend 2026 our halibut fishing crew rolled into old town. Our guest of honor was my father in law who grew up in the Eureka area. Instead of Babes pizza this year my father in law led us to PAUL'S LIVE FROM NEW YORK!!! Rolled into Paul's and examined the menu in a giant pizza booth adjacent to the kitchen. As the fish crew was discussing the order a pizza chef revealed himself over the wall and told us we needed to order the 6-meat King Kong!!! Sign us up brother! I couldn't find King Kong on the menu! Awesome it's top secret. So order up...one 18 inch pepperoni pizza, one hitman, one King Kong, and two sausage rolls. That's a Yelpstar elite order folks. Pizza rolled out piping hot and fabulous. I feel like this spot has a lot of potential here but just misses the mark. A local spot, very popular. Not so much for dine in as more for take out and third party. You can do a simple slice or grab whole items as well. The space is big, just seems informal and the decor is little to be desired. It's like being in a warehouse setting, cold and flat. The communication within the staff is lacking a bit. After placing an order, it took 15 mins for them to realize they had over sold an item, and let us know after we had sat down, which then delayed part of our order after we chose a new item. Best pizza in Humboldt if you're looking for thin, crispy NY style. Some of my favorite NY slices I've had actually, no joke. Also a consistent tap list. I've had a bunch of different stuff on the menu and it's all good, but their slices are the best for me. Lots of creative topping combos and whenever they do a slice with mozzarella and ricotta on top I always buy it. Can't go wrong with their traditional slices either. I've been coming here every time I'm in town for 20 years. Paul runs a well-oiled machine, and his thin crispy slices rival anything that comes from that other coast. Pizza is usually Great. Customer Service is on a whole different lowest of low level. I had a long day of work and went to pick up my pizza, that I requested to be ready for pick up at 3:40 PM on August 31, 2025. I arrived at 3:50 PM. My Pizza was ready, but the person who was working the cash register had to count all of the money in the register before he could take my money and give me my pizza. And that took 15 minutes. I was tired and dirty from working all day and just wanted my pizza. I almost walked out and didn't purchase the pizza but I was hungry. So it seems the staff there do not care about the customer's time. He did offer me a soda while I waited, but I don't drink sugar. Next time I want Pizza, going to make it myself with better ingredients and don't have to deal with the disrespect. read more

Last night, 4/29/25, we went to our favorite Pizza place in Eureka, CA, Paul's Live. For the first time in the 4 years we've been frequenting it, the pizza was horrible. It was the worst pizza we've ever eaten. There were no labels near the available pizza, the crust was extremely thin, soggy, and as oily as an oil spill. The taste was incredibly bad. It was just... highly salty and oily. Our regular guys weren't there. We didn't recognize any of the workers. When the couple in front of us asked if any more pizzas were coming out, the guy behind the counter, whose attitude was like, "I don't give a sh*t, that's all you're getting." Wtf, Paul's? Where are the good guys? Where are the good pizzas? Or is this how it always is on Tuesday nights? read more

The pizza was ready quick, but didn't seem that fresh? Almost no sauce. The cheese was not gooey. I feel like if we had ordered a whole pizza instead of slices it may have been better. Great pizza, some of my favorite on the West Coast but if an establishments hours aren't gonna reflect the true hours, then you suck.. tonight I checked the hours at the Fortuna shop when I was coming up the hill.. yelp says 9 o'clock. I get there at 8 o'clock and the place is a ghost town look like it's been shut down all day.. continue my drive up to Eureka, which also says open till nine get there at 8:30 doors are locked. Staff is inside cleaning. I'll give a knock on the door. They stop look over and go back to cleaning.. I don't care how good your pizza is when it it's burnt.. This has become a regular lunch spot for me! It's always the rumble on the Bronx slice when available or the pepperoni calzone when I have a big appetite. I can't complain one bit about the food here cause everything has been amazing. The only downside is the wait times at lunch time. This place gets incredibly busy on the week day lunch rush. When placing phone orders there is lots of negative attitude from staff. They almost always get the orders wrong. Paul is a a great dude. Was up in Eureka with my college soccer team for a game vs Humboldt and needed a place that could seat about 24 and get quality food out quickly. Did some research and cane across Paul's who had great reviews and space with tables and booths. I let each table order their own food so we got a range of pizzas including massive XL's, pasta and salads. Food came out fast and was excellent. Portions were perfect and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The place lived up to the hype. Definitely recommend and if back up north I know where I'll be headed. read more

Had a craving and went to Paul's life from New York pizza today. As I walked to the register the guy said it's going to be a few minutes because I'm counting. He counted, did a bunch of printouts. Counted some more, did some more printouts. After about 5 minutes went by I gave up and left. Love their Pizza. But they need to work on their system. I've managed businesses with multiple cash drawers and I understand the importance of counting out a drawer. But a business should have a second drawer loaded it up with the starting amount ready to go. So you can print your z report pull the drawer and go back to the office. Slap in a fresh drawer and serve the customer. read more

I ate here for the first time last night with a friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed the pizza. One of my favorite things about this place is that you can order pizza by the slice - even many of their specialty ones. I highly recommend the 'Roni Special - a great spin on the usual pepperoni with some added basil and garlic to give it a more refined, herbal flair. The slices of pizza are generous, but this is New York-style pizza with a thin crust, so if you're absolutely starving it's well within the realm of possibility you might find yourself enjoying two slices. The service was very good and the staff was happy to tell us about what was on each pizza and were eager to answer our questions. Very chill, relaxed ambiance in the restaurant. The place is maintained very well and is kept clean. I can't wait to come back and try some more pizza! There is also a Paul's Live From New York in Arcata which I have yet to try, so that's also on my list. read more
