I just needed something small and cheap for the day, but unfortunately had to pay a bit more to secure an automatic. The pick-up went very smooth. The clerk was friendly and it only took a few minutes to process everything. Both the car and the GPS we reserved were ready for us. The car was very clean, with full tank of gas ready to go. Car ran well, no problems at all driving through London or the highway outside the city. When you return, there's an Avis lot a few hundred feet down the road that you can park in, then just walk back up to the office and turn in your keys. I had heard horror stories about Hertz and some of the other big names, so I was pleased at how easy and painless it was to deal with Sixt.

SIXT…read morecan cost you approximately DOUBLE the cost of firms like Avis, Hertz, etc but the quality of vehicle / service isn't proportionally higher :( My experience was while I was in London from November 26th - December 9th. The vehicle (a Volkswagen Golf was fine) but the additional fees (of which I was notified only later) were astronomic. It cost me as much to drive 205 miles with SIXT as it did to fly 9,800 to LHR from Portland Oregon!! To put that into context it cost about $11 per mile (or 8.1 GBP) Should you have to ask SIXT to 'fill up the car' expect again an almost 100% mark up on local London prices!! Lack of clear - upfront communication would have warned me off!!

Absolutely avoid!!!…read more I booked a rental car to be picked up at Fulham Broadway on a Saturday morning at 10am (11/9/21). None of the confirmation emails indicated where to find the lockbox to pick up the key. After having found it, I followed the instructions on my booking confirmation email: to call their number to retrieve the lockbox code in order to get the car key. No one answered, I stood there for almost 2 hours repeatedly trying the number provided, emailing them without any sort of response (I still haven't heard anything from them) and had to leave without a car and cancel the trip I had planned- absolutely infuriating. There were 2 other parties there who were in the exact situation as me and had to leave without a rental car. How can they rent cars to people on weekends when their offices are clearly closed then, and there is no way to retrieve car keys???

Very rude…read moreperson in the name of PETER, supplied numerous lies, blaming the customer for the company's mistake and cancelling a confirmed reservation without giving a coherent reason, 6 hours after car should have been picked up. Long story: Confirmed a reservation over the phone a week in advance. Everything is OK and ready to go according to the representative. Received a call on the morning of rental, asking for additional information that was not mentioned before. Later Charlie the representative (which was fair to deal with) said that the booking must be on another person details. This was explained as discrimination due to the country of origin. After changing the reservation under another person, they've asked for various documents to be supplied (license scan, 2 x proof of address). Although we were already on the go, we did manage to come up with these. It took the company hours to process these documents to say that the 3 proof of address are not sufficient. Over a phone conversation with Peter who blamed us for not supplying these documents the previous week (while they only asked for them on the morning of the rental), he wasn't willing to explain why the 3 proof of address supplied were not sufficient - saying it's a company secret how they evaluate it. He then continue to blame us on random things, most of which had nothing to do with the rental - such as blacking out sensitive information. He continued to say that we have no privacy and that he intend to cancel the rental - again without explaining the reason. Not only was Peter very rude, discriminating and aggressive, he lied about several points such as what the law is, about his colleagues not being able to speak with us and he being the last and only point of contact. He lied and concealed the reasons for cancellation. We've lost business due to the rental being canceled on the day. We spent half a day trying to comply to all their requests, on the illusion the rental will go ahead later than planned. HORRIBLE COMPANY to deal with. HORRIBLE personal experience. Bigotry experience from Peter (Charlie, the other representative was reasonable). Please do not deal with - to not help awful companies that step on customers like that. There are other choices in similar price range, or if you are not super tight on budget, it is worth the extra £10-£15 for the bigger companies.
