Doing this meant - literally using my mobile phone to speak with the company, and trying to manage other customers coming in for petrol, etc. Took ages, and it was pretty clear no one wanted to help. Eventually I got the van and it was fine... MOST importantly - it should be made really clear - you will pay a $400 deposit and they will not refund this for 10 WORKING days. Most rental companies say this might be the case "up to ten working days" At self move hire this is a planned refund so it will take potentially 2 weeks or more to get your deposit back. IF this is an issue for you (It was for me!) Call another company - lots of standard rental companies have vans. Also if you have storage at Kennards they have vans and utes..as I found out later. I could hardly find one on trip advisor too. So...after a few google search I finally opted to go with Budget rental car. Although it was a few miles walk from my hotel, I felt that it was going to be my best bet. Before my trip to Sydney, I made sure to print out my confirmation page showing every detail of my reservation. Once I got to the place, I showed them my confirmation email and provided my drivers license. The attendant went over every detail and finally told us to meet us at the pick-up area. It was a small walk up to a garage. And just like that, we got our small nissan car. The service was great and there was nothing to complain about. Thank you Budget rental car for making our visit as easy as possible. I highly recommend this place.

I called to follow up a few weeks later and spoke to one of the mechanics, he had a look and said it only need a filling and it would only cost a couple hundreds dollars so I went back to the counter and I spoke to the guy who I rent the car from , got told to go home he will follow up there is not only one car need to be look after and it looks like the car needs to change the whole windscreen ( he assumed without making a phone call or speaking to some specialists, as if he just gonna charged me for full price anyway). Now it's been 2 months. I haven't heard anything from Avis. Very disappointed. I was a regular to Avis. I have very good driving records. I never have any accidents and always make sure to pay for the top cover because I realised that accident could happen but Avis took it for granted by charging me full price for a couple hundred dollars job.

Then I found out that I have to pay an extra $3.50 'service' fee for the tolls over the Gateway Bridge on top of the tolls. When I called head office to find out why they said call the toll company and when I complained about the fee to Budget they said well you should have read the terms and conditions. When I was signing the original paperwork prior to the rental I WAS NOT ASKED to read any terms and conditions and was ONLY asked to sign here and here, when I complained about that they hung up the phone on me. After 30 years of renting with Budget I will no longer rent with them as the head office staff were rude, condescending and arrogant plus the car was below par. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!!!

We had to badger Orana to follow up claims and update us, and the stress of this experience dragging on for 9 months, and the injustice of the outcome, caused great emotional distress - not to mention being out the $750 excess (thank God I paid extra to lower it) despite having in writing that Orana found us not at fault, has been and continues to be incredibly upsetting. Got a rental car here on our trip from the US. Took the train to the Kings Cross station - it is a…read morevery short walk from there. Nothing special, but check in went fine. We went up to the Blue Mountains and dropped the car off at the airport. I'd give more stars, but they had really poor maps. Luckily I had enabled my phone for GPS and Wayz for this portion of the trip. So that worked better than the maps they had.
