The service itself was fine, and I liked the work the technician did. However, the experience was ruined when I was pressured to leave a tip on the spot. I explained that I could send it later via Zelle, but I was told, "You are not leaving until you send it," which made me feel as if I had done something wrong. This was my first time at EWC and I had a great experience. My wax specialist at the Lawrence - Five Towns site was Paige. She was friendly and professional. Paige explained everything in detail and answered any questions I had which made me very comfortable with the process. This EWC site was very clean and the front desk workers were super nice. What a shame. I used to come here when this place first opened and there was a NICE Russian woman who was doing waxing. She was polite and efficient! I eventually stopped coming here and started to do the sugaring, which is great! Today, against my better judgement I decided to go back, last minute, for a full Brazilian. And of course was not satisfied. First and foremost, whomever the owner is of this establishment should really look into customer service etiquette and base his/her hiring off of that. Instead he/she continues to hire these young, inefficient, deficient, classless women as the face of this establishment. Today, upon entering, there was no one seated in the front, however you can hear the meaningless banter taking place in the first room to the left when you walk to the back. A few seconds after entering a young lady comes to the front and I say good morning, to which she responds "hey you". Oops! Inappropriate and unprofessional. I say "good morning" a second time and she proceeds to freeze in place and stare at me as though she was collecting her thoughts and composure. Poor thing. Anywho, I was not waiting long for my esthetician, Felicia, who btw is very nice, however attire is unkept. Conversation was ok. She tried. She was quick. Once I got home, I had wax residue everywhere, I was annoyed. Furthermore she did not get my inner thighs the butt strip was not efficient. I eventually had to Nair. The ladies who do the waxing are very nice and professional. My issue is the plans they have for waxing and not answering the phone if you close at 8pm. I setup a plan. $70.00 every 4-8 week. Depending on how much you use it. I only get my underarms done. 1. I was never told it was an automatic payment plan. I was charged twice in the same month. My understanding from how the receptionist explained it. When you hit a certain amount, when you come in you can make another payment. Apparently not. They keep your credit card information which I am not comfortable with. 2. I confirmed my appointment and realized I had conflicting schedules. I call them back promptly. Made three, four attempts to contact EWC way before 8pm. No one answered the phone. Called the next morning still no one answered the phone. The professionalism at this location is lacking. I am canceling my EWC plan for good. I will only be using cash if I patron this business again. Two down for me. read more

I have been a regular customer at European Wax Center for almost two years now. I recently began frequenting this location which is closest to my home. The estheticians at this location are great HOWEVER the front desk manager, Jessica, is very rude, immature, unprofessional and disrespectful. Jessica sits at the front desk and should know how to handle customer service. However, I had to deal with her disrespectful attitude on two occasions, the second time being the worst. After a mixup with the call center, which scheduled my appointment for the wrong location, I was left to speak in person with Jessica who handled the situation by rolling her eyes, lying and raising her voice. I explained that I called the number for the Lawerence location and made an appointment through that phone number. I asked if I had the correct number and she replied that I called a call center. To confirm, I dialed the number while still in store and the phone at the desk began to ring. Jessica picked up the phone and hung it up so that it wouldn't continue to ring (and prove my point.) Rather than explain the mix-up (which happened on EWC's end), or try and accommodate me since I was literally traveling out of the country a few hours later, she dismissed me and handled the situation with a disrespectful tone and attitude. She continued to act very unprofessional, (rolling her eyes multiple times and when I mentioned I didn't appreciate her rolling her eyes she purposely did it again, raising her voice to yell at me, and laughing at the situation with a delivery guy who was there at the time), and beyond that discourteous. Her attitude was horrible from the moment I asked about my appointment. She is not accommodating, helpful, humble, civil, or polite. I would NOT recommend this location (not because of the excellent workers but,) because you have to deal with a rude, ill-mannered and unprofessional manager who clearly doesn't appreciate her customers. I am really unhappy with this location. I am unsure if they are overwhelmed with the Pandemic or they are just inconsiderate. I had an appointment on Sunday I was 10 mins late due to an accident on Roosevelt Blvd. When I walked in and apologized they said that I missed my appointment and that they were booked for the day and that they needed to reschedule. I did for 9am today I arrived at 8:55am. Upon arrival I was told that the technician was in traffic and was running behind. I waited a few minutes but I had to work and was not given an ETA on whether it would be 15 mins or 30 mins. I left around 9:15am and rescheduled for 6:45pm tonight. I arrived at 6:43 and called because I saw several people outside. I kept being placed on hold. I eventually spoke to someone who said once again that the tech was running behind. The customer service given by the receptionists are consistently poor. Really bad attitudes and poor phone etiquette. read more

They refused to refund me my money and insulted me. They also refused to give me any other phone numbers to contact. This company does not value customer service. Went to this place to get waxed for the first time the other day and I definitely did walk out strutting like their slogan says. I have been getting waxed for about a year now in NYC and I think I have finally found the place for me. The environment is very professional, the employees are very professional and when you go on for the wax out is a very comfortable setting and the staff makes you feel comfortable while you are being waxed. It definitely hurts a heck of a lot less than getting traditional waxing done with the strips because they use a natural wax which just peels right off. I have been a European Wax center customer for the last 3 or so years. I recently moved from NJ and I was trying out this new location. The place was clean however my wax tech was not good at ALL. I came in here for an eyebrow wax this time ( cant trust new places to do much more until they have proved they can at least do a basic eye brow wax). She completed the first strip of wax and then she recommended that I wax off a portion of my hairline because it would help my eyebrows standout more. Ummm she is crazy...why would i get my edges waxed!!!!!! I wanted to jump up off that table and say nevermind but I decided to let her complete my eyebrows but I made sure to question her every step of the way. Needless to say I wont be returning to this location. I have sensitive skin, and I was nervous about getting the Brazilian done with beeswax because the sugar wax experience wasn't so bad but it still didn't work out for my skin. A year later I decided to try it again but this time using beeswax. I cannot tell you enough on how the experience was so much smoother and better than the sugar wax. My skin didn't feel like it was burning every time she pulled the wax off, Except "that" part. It was great. So far my skin has not reacted to the wax. I really hope it doesn't otherwise I will be returning again. I recommend this better than any other wax. They do walk-ins but its much better to get an appt. DROPPING THE " N " BOMBS! My cousin and I decided to get our very FIRST Brazilian wax , so we booked an appointment to the closest location to our house. Unfortunately we were running a little. We called the location to make them aware of our tardiness and the rep was a little rude. Confused at why she was not so friendly we still rushed to make great time. From the door there was no greeting. Three staff members at the desk, two of which was at computers and one just standing there (remind you this is our first time). So we just standing there and in comes another staff member with Chinese food ( she was quickly acknowledge) -_- Finally we made eye contact with one girl at the desk, she took our names and then told my cousin to talk to the other girl to check in. Ok so now we are booked in and ready for the wax. Lets not forget the whole checkin experience was a -1 (yes negative) no smiles, no greeting, no one is happy to be here. My wax experience I give 1000 stars. My waxer was Margarita. She was extremely nice. She made me feel so comfortable & she was so knowledgeable of the products for the care treatments. I forgot I was even treated badly out side my wax room. So I left the room excited. I even tipped and that's really hard coming from me lol. So I come back out to pay my tab. The package deal and the payment agreements was rushed through. The desk girl explained it so fast, I didn't care to ask her to repeat herself because it was clear she wanted to finish her conversation with her employee & continue eating her Chinese food at the front desk ( Is this company not categorized as a spa) I know this is not sanitary but ok . So I pay & sit down to wait on my cousin who just informed me the white girl got into a fight last night I laughed and said "how you know "she said "because that's all they been talking about while i was waiting". Now its my turn in the waiting area. On the phone with my friend & then I heard it........ This N***a this & this N***a that ....N***a . N***a . N***a . N***a . N***a . That's all I heard. I'd just like to say the last time I went I was not happy and very uncomfortable in an already uncomfortable situation.. so this time I was not sure what to expect. Came here for some quick maintenance last weekend I was pretty impressed. The wax they use is a proprietary mix exclusive to EWC. Instead of waxing with strips, the wax cools right away and becomes hard enough to peel off of your skin. The "wax" hardens but is still pliable, so it is actually a really gentle wax. My first time at this location. I had a 9a appointment. I'm a regular at the Garden City location but was looking for something closer to home since I had a full day. I arrived early because DUH. At 8:40, I went to the doors, saw no one at the desk and returned to my car. At 8:50, I saw staff going into the facility so myself and another car of ladies waiting, followed this employee inside. At 8:52, the front desk staff arrived and loudly told myself and the other 2 women that were waiting "NEXT TIME I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO SIT IN HERE UNTIL ITS 9AM". Huh??!! One of the other women asked if we should go back outside and she again, very loudly responded "NO BUT NEXT TIME DO NOT COME IN UNTIL 9AM". I don't want to harp on the person at the desk, her appearance or manners but the combination of the two were neither inviting or friendly. Far from what I am used to at a European Wax Center. I'm not sure if it's the location or what but thus far I am not impressed and will likely NEVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION. It is now 9:01a and again, very different from the Garden City location because if I were there, I'd be on the table already. Very good Brazilian wax service, but the front desk people ripped me off on the products. I was charged for all 3 products when I was supposedly supposed to get a buy 2, get 1 free deal. I also was ripped off of my wax pass because originally I was using another location. I bought a wax pass at the other location and when I used up all my services, I bought the 2nd pass at Lawrence. When the 2nd wax plan was used up, I tried purchasing my 3rd wax pass plan at Lawrence, and the receptionist told me I had to pay full price because it was my first time purchasing with Lawrence. I'm like no it's not. EWC is commercial. Why does it matter where i bought a wax pass before? I only visited the prior location 3 times. Why wasn't she able to see that my 2nd pass was purchased at Lawrence? This was so frustrating and disturbing. read more

I have extremely sensitive skin, so I was really nervous to try European Wax Center! I always come out of waxing places with the skin around my eyebrows so swollen and sensitive that the redness would last up to 24 hours. What a different experience! With their 4 step process, I barely had ANY redness, and the slight redness I did have disappeared in around a half hour or less! It was incredible. Lauren, my waxer, was very personable, and I will definitely be going to her again. The staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful. The owner and the girls at the front desk were really sweet, and extremely knowledgeable about their packages and products. In fact, I ended up buying a lot of their products, and after the first day of using them, I am a huge fan! The exfoliating cream is incredible, and the body products smell awesome. I've been getting waxed for years at another establishment which is also great but I needed a more convenient establishment/location. I'm currently 8 1/2 months pregnant and had my last brazillian in September. So it had been a while and I wasn't sure how things would go being pregnant. However, my concerns were quickly laid to rest. Annette was the professional who provided the services and she was terrific. She made sure to put me at ease and to make things as comfortable as possible. This was my first time with hard wax and it was less painful than I expected. I scheduled an appointment for a full Brazilian wax for 10am. I was informed the morning of that the waxer would be late and I was given the option to come in at 11:30 or 11:45. I chose 11:30. When I arrived I was informed that the waxer was still not in and that she had an appointment before me. Upon being given that information I was given the option to wait or reschedule. I chose to wait. When I informed the receptionist that I was going to wait she told me it would be a long wait and suggested I shop around in the shopping center and that she'd give me a call when the waxer was ready. So I did. About a half hour later the receptionist called me and asked where I was and if I was rescheduling for tomorrow. I responded no, I'm in the vicinity I will be right over. I was very confused as I was expecting to get a call when the waxer was ready opposed to a call assuming that I'd canceled for the day but, I put it aside and just went over to the wax center. When I make my way to the desk the waxer was standing right by the receptionist and just motioned for me to follow her. She did not introduce herself. I follow anyway. When we get in the room she motions for me to lay down. I try to make small talk and I bring up the mix up saying, "yeah I thought you guys were going to call me because that's what the receptionist said". The waxer responds saying that the call reception is bad and that customers shouldn't wander off. While waxing me she was rough and I could tell that she was rushing, as the wax was very hot on my skin and she kept having to go over spots multiple times. From experience I remember a waxer from this same facility using powder to rid any oil on my skin and the most she went over the same area was twice. This was not the case here. Once she finished the front portion of my wax she asks what I was getting done again, looks at the receipt and says "oh Brazilian, turn around". At this point I felt so uncomfortable and got the impression that she was not in a good mood and did not want to do it so I said "no thank you this is good" and she said ok well tell the receptionist you just got a full bikini. When I get to the receptionist the waxer is already there and she already informed the receptionist about the service change. The receptionist rang me up, asked how my service was and proceeded to ask if I wanted to tip cash or card. I didn't want to complain nor did I want to tip however as someone who works as a makeup artist I always tip because I appreciate tips. So I leave a small tip in cash but charge my service on my card and leave. This interaction left such a bad impression. I remember having a great time my first visit however I won't be going back. I left feeling horrible mentally and physically as THE WAX JOB WAS SO RUSHED THAT I STILL HAVE STUBBLE EVERYWHERE. Worst experience EVER. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. I should have just shaved. I was hesitant at first because of the bad reviews but due to convenience I booked an appointment. Shes patient and was great explaining the process for my first time. I was very nervous for my first wax and she was able to calm me down while also teaching me how to care for my black skin. She is very well educated on not only waxing but helping me with my skin issues. I left in 15 min feeling much more educated than ever before. Love this place! So I went here thinking the worst ... It was my first time ever getting a Brazilian Wax. I heard a bunch of horror stories up until an hour before arriving for my appointment. The location was very clean. Amanda was excellent! She talked to me the whole time. I made her aware that this was my first time and she told me what she was going to do and how she would do it. She prepared me before she started. She was also very honest with me and told me if there was a specific part that would hurt more then others. Overall this was an amazing experience. Very disappointed with my service. I have had a better experience at other centers. My waxer was Lucy. She was extremely slow. She would apply the wax in big blobs and my legs would stick together or stick to the table. She had her headphones on the entire time. She did not greet me or tell me her name until I had asked her. My hair was well above 1/2 inch long and she was unable to remove most of it. When I asked if she could tweeze the remaining hairs she said, no I don't have tweezers. It was such a battle to get her to go over areas again because she had missed many spots. She is not well trained, she was unable to remove hair from small areas like my knuckles. I am paying so much for a service, I expect to be close to hair free as possible. =( The front desk staff are not professional. The girls are eating food while talking to clients. When it came time to check out I was being overcharged and had to correct the lady. So overall poor customer service at this location. If you all want to keep your clients please do a better job of smiling and greeting guests. Waxer please learn the technique. Also this center should invest in a pair of tweezers, and clients should not have to ask you to tweeze out hairs. read more

Every time I come here I always see some stuff going down. I swear if it wasn't for Michelle I would not come back! Apparently the office manager doesn't understand why a customer would be upset about a promotion that is being advertised but its not valid. Then while I'm still in the waiting area find it necessary to bad mouth the costumer with another employee. The girls up front are so unprofessional!! This is not the first time I've seen them do something like this. Then to top it off I get here 10 min early to my 11 appt time. At 11:10 I ask if Michelle is running late only to be told that she will be out in 2 mins. Now keep in mind they give you a 10 min grace period. Finally I go in and was talking to my girl and she tells me that she didn't know she had an 11 o'clock Bc they told her to take the appt before who showed up 9 mins late and they didn't check me in till 11:06. Now I'm ok with the 10 min grace period. I get it but what pissed me off was how do I get there 10 min early and they check me in almost 10 mins after my appt time and not only that but they can at least tell you that they are running behind. read more
