Great golf instructor, very fairly priced! I've been playing golf for 12 years and have taken several lessons from Evan at Golf Manhattan in midtown. He's a great teacher who does an excellent job communicating the "why" of what the golf ball is doing by explaining the "how" of your individual golf swing. Unlike other instructors I've seen in the past, you also spend a lot of time actually working on your swing - which is great! This is not a 60 minute lesson where 40+ minutes are spent on theoretical dialogue and lengthy explanations; you'll quickly get to work improving your game through drills, swings, and actually hitting the ball. Pricing is below what several other NYC indoor instructors charge, and you're getting an excellent teacher for the price. I've been incredibly impressed by his style, and my game is improving quickly! One comment on Golf Manhattan, too (the location for his indoor lessons) - they're one of the few facilities in NYC that use Trackman, the most accurate launch monitor technology available. You get incredibly realistic feedback of what the ball is doing (down to the tenth of a yard), and the immediate stats presented (club path, face angle, spin rate, face angle, etc.) are immensely helpful. This also makes it super convenient to practice Evan's suggestions in-between lessons. For an example, if you're working on changing the path of the club - you can immediately see the numbers to validate what you're practicing. I recently came to Evan looking for someone to help improve my game. I warned him that he had his work cut out for him - I've pick up a club once or twice a year for the last couple of years, with no training whatsoever. Just enough to pick up bad habits! In our three sessions so far Evan has completely reworked every aspect of my swing. Stance, grip, approach, weight distribution, balance, backswing, downswing, hips, shoulders, etc. He is extremely knowledgeable and patient, and excellent in conveying mechanical adjustments. I appreciate that he doesn't interject after every swing, but rather let's me work through the results while making mental adjustments on my own. He has a great sense for when it's time to step in with corrections or tips. We still have plenty of work ahead up but the progress thus far has been extremely rewarding. After golfing with some friends yesterday I asked if they could see any visible differences from the last time we were out. One of them said "Your swing looks 10,000 times better. Night and day difference." I am looking forward continuing that progress thanks to Evan's help, and would certainly recommend him to golfers of any skill level looking for ways to improve their game. read more

I am in the beginning of my second month, and I keep thinking this is too good to be true. Three months of Evan for the cost of 1 lesson. (yes, I live in an expensive area of California) His willingness to take the time and be precise in his video teachings is appreciated and the videos have a high level of attention to detail. He is able to convey what I am doing wrong and right, and gives me drills, videos, player videos, and diagrams of still photos to instruct me. I am not certain how he can keep up, because he calls out my name in the videos, which means, he is not using a plug and play/copy and insert (on fix for all players) from earlier videos. He also explains the why of things and how we are going to get there. When I first saw the video of myself, I even scared myself. Now it continually looks better and better, and I am hitting the ball with more ease and consistency. Evan, even sent a video while he was on vacation, and things like that are important to me. I highly recommend him, and if he is not in the Top 100 or Top 50 teaching pros in the U.S., I would be very surprised. read more

Golfing in NYC is never easy, especially when you game is struggling. I was acticvely looking for a pro to help me through a slump / to build confidence with my recently purchased irons. After trying 2 different pros throughout the city I wasn't overly pleased by the lessons, results, or level of engagement. I continued to do my research and found Evan online. For two consecutive years I tried with no success to learn golf. After hours at the range, horrible 1-off lessons, and lots of frustrating rounds, a scratch golfer recommended I meet Evan. From then on, I started learning the game the right way and have dramatically improved my swing, club speed, and consistency. I've been taking golf lessons with Evan at Golf Manhattan for almost a year now. I'm new to the game and was referred by a friend. Upon my initial visit he laid down a path to improvement that has been easy for me to follow. He used video to show me how to improve my golf swing body movements, and showed me how my club was swinging incorrectly. I had a very over the top motion and open club face. I can now say that my slice has turned into a draw. Most of the time.. Evan is a very precise golf instructor and my favorite one in NYC. I can now use the Trackman at my club on the weekends I completely understand the data I'm looking for. He understands, and has motivated me to work on all facets of my game. Long game, short game, and mental game. We use the Trackman simulator to play on courses work on my course management as well. I needed to pick back up my golf game (from a 15 year hiatus) due to my field of work. I hadn't played in 15 years (was pretty awful back then) and quit because I was frustrated with the way I played. It just wasn't enjoyable. I've been working with Evan since February of 2018. I'm a new golfer who has tried to figure out a swing while on the course with friends for a year with very limited success (100's / high 90's). After 5 months with Evan, I now have a solid understanding of my target swing and am making marked strides towards getting there on a consistent basis. I'm an online subscriber but recommend meeting with Evan occasionally in person to reinforce the lessons and add a bit of context. I've dropped around 10 strokes so far but more importantly am playing more consistent golf. One great aspect of Evans teaching style is it is long term focused. Had a great lesson with Evan. He understands that each golf swing is unique. He can make subtle tweaks to improve ballflight if your swing is in pretty good shape already. In my case, he was able to put forward easy to understand concepts that started to eliminate some bad habits I'd engrained over 15 years, all within an hour. I didn't show up for a quick fix and wasn't expecting one, but it was encouraging to see significant improvement in just my first lesson. He's a patient and knowledgable teacher. I would recommend Evan at Golf Manhattan in New York as he is a very good golf instructor. I played golf when I was much younger, but have not played for years. I started golfing again recently and wanted to improve my golf game. Evan is great in that he is very practical and can explain in easy to understand terms what I need to do to improve my golf swing. Evan uses various tools including Trackman and recording my swing so I can see what works for me and what does not. After just a few lessons, I am hitting straighter and more consistently. My wife, Nancy, was a pretty good competitive Club golfer (mid 90's usually). For a variety of reasons, she has not played much for three or four years. Even, with only three lessons, was successful in getting her old swing back. He was extremely conservative - only working with one club per lesson. He watched carefully, and only then brought limited "swing thoughts" per lesson. I have played a lot of golf. Evan also gave me immediate "swing thoughts" that have significantly helped my game. Evan's been great pinpointing my flaws and getting me to a better, more consistent place in my golf swing. I've had lessons in the past where the instructor simply had me hit balls, changed my stance or grip a bit, showed me my club angle and told me where it should be, and then quickly had me on my way. Evan is really breaking down my swing from head-to-toe, approach-to-follow through and after just a few lessons I'm already hitting the ball cleaner and straighter, as well as with more distance. Our family (2 adults and a 5 year old) has been taking Golf lessons from coach Evan using indoor simulator, and have had a wonderful experience. Evan was able to adapt the lessons to each of us individually, analyzing in detail area's where we needed improvement and providing constructive feedback. We have all improved significantly, and feel we will be ready to go it ourselves once our sessions are complete. I've been working with Evan for the past few seasons in Miami through the Jim McLean School, first at Doral and more recently at the Biltmore. He's great at explaining what he sees in my swing and shows me on video if necessary, and he'll give me 1 or 2 drills that get me to feel the change. I only picked up golf about two years ago but in the past year none of my iron shots seemed to be working no matter what adjustments I tried to make on my own watching a lot of videos. One lesson with Evan and a slight adjustment on my grip seemed to fix it!!! Evan is an outstanding instructor. He was able to quickly identify root cause issues in my swing, explain the causes and consequences, and patiently work with me for eliminating/reducing them.
