I recently had my 6 month regular check up with FC Family Dentistry and was VERY pleased with their level of customer service, care, and friendliness! Dr. Gul was excellent, providing thorough explanations of their approach to cleaning and care and asked me at least twice if I was experiencing any pain during my cleaning (I felt nothing!). Before and after the cleaning she explained why she was recommending X-rays and the three issues she'd identified, stating that she would confirm the level of urgency via the X-rays. The equipment used was modern and Dr. Gul provided a thorough assessment of my teeth and gums based on the X-rays. In the end, she explained that she would continue to monitor the situations vs. take immediate action and counseled me on how to avoid making things worse. This was so refreshing, as many dentists are often looking for ways to charge you for things you may or may not need. Dr. Gul's beside manner and that of her technician's was kind, warm, caring, and gentle. I am so pleased to have found a dental practice that focuses on the needs of their patients and treats them with such warm care vs. rushing them in and out! I had two crowns put in over the past couple months - one on each side of my mouth. We decided to do one at a time so I could chew food with the side that was not being worked on. Both times, it took only three weeks between crown prep and install. Dr. Huang worked quickly (but not too quick), he was very thorough, detailed and I really liked that he and his technician discussed what they were doing as they did it. When I asked questions, he answered them in a technical, yet understandable way. Scheduling appointments was quick and easy. I got seen on time for each appointment. When I was running ten minutes late for one appointment and called ahead to let them know, they were very understanding and got me in as soon as I arrived. She just pulled it today and did a bone graft with great care and patience, taking 3 hours for the process to make sure everything went well and was painless for me. She asked whether a root canal was needed and was told it wasn't, despite the pain she was experiencing. When she questioned that recommendation, the interaction became uncomfortable, and she was pressured to move forward with treatment the same day. She was required to sign a waiver and proceed while in significant pain. The crown did not resolve the issue. She later sought a second opinion and was told a root canal was absolutely necessary. She ended up needing specialist care, 3D imaging, and a root canal--all out of pocket. What was most troubling was the disconnect between how urgent the situation was presented and how it was later billed. Patients should be very cautious and ask detailed questions about authorization and alternatives, especially when in pain.
