He also ministered to my family through baby dedications, weddings, baptisms, etc over the past 14 years. You're not going to find a more sincere, consistent and doctrinally sound pastor in the area. He went as far as to stay over a night on a couch with no advanced planning during a family crisis. I would like to also respond to one of the negative comments on this page. The Bible says: Woe to you when all men speak well of you. A few outraged slanderers is par for the course for preaching the gospel in Massachusetts. I would be more concerned for someone's ministry if no one spoke evil of them. It's usually a stamp of a good church to have haters. Ask the Apostle Paul. My advice for the slanderer would be to: a) get born again if you are not, and b) submit to good Godly leadership as we are all commanded to by God. If you do this this you will be more graceful to the flaws you see in others instead of trying to tear people down on yelp reviews. Giving your "pennies" to the local church will become a joy and not a duty. You won't give "reviews" about a church as if it was your local Starbucks as you casually bounce from one to another nitpicking as you go. You will start to see it as a place where people come to meet with a *living* God. Are you telling me that you can't see and celebrate the downright miracle of a Bible-based church in Massachusetts circa 2022 and beyond? Someone who attends a church once a month and tells the pastor what he should be teaching is a walking red flag. My current pastor has endless stories of young prideful men walking in trying to tell him how to do things better while they themselves are doing nothing for the Kingdom and won't lift a finger to help. He calls them fruit inspectors; always examining the fruits of others but never their own. That said I can guarantee you Pastor Dane took your input to prayer. Even if he didn't enact all of your changes immediately upon your request. Here is a question for you: Have you forgiven this pastor and the church members for these perceived faults? Like the old saying goes: if you're looking for the perfect church, forget about it because the moment you walk in it will be imperfect. The church is a hospital for the sick and hurting. That is of course unless you are already well and not in need of a physician. For everyone else please stop by and watch God transform your life as He did mine through this man's ministry.

Note: PACC has 2 venues: - The chapel is visually attractive, has comfortable seating, and is very live. Longwood Opera's condensed Ring Cycle in that space was a bit too much for a few overly-sensitive ears! - but its Hansel and Gretel and Tosca in the same place were just right. - The meeting hall is a barer-looking space, with folding chairs we have to set up... but used correctly, it can be transformed into a lovely concert hall, with acoustics which I personally prefer to the chapel. The trick here is to place the performers on the stage *in front of* the closed curtain, because the stage behind the curtain isn't acoustically useful. That's how we used it again on Sunday Oct. 30, 2011, 3-5PM. for the 9th annual Music to Cure MS concert. We also took advantage of the kitchen area in the back - not to prepare food (which would cost an extra fee), but to set up refreshments to sell during intermission, in order to raise more funds for the Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis. New English? This region has seen the entire history of 'post-European folks wanting freedom' America. Which is different from Stolen Land America and Stolen People America, but I digress. Something influential can be said of that. So, I set an appointment with the Assistant Rector, Reverend Jonathan Eden. How fitting is that last name, by the way? I joined the mailing list before the meeting so I could peruse some literature. They included a brief history of the church, its ties to England and its influence on the American government. Rev. Eden took me through the history of the church as well - he talked about King Henry VIII, the implementation of the Round Table as a religious approach, and the difference between southern and northern churches' stances on the Peculiar Institution. If given the chance, wouldn't you want to have your slaves and go to church too? Damn, I digress again. Anyway, the Black American Christian experience is relatively new when you consider the entire scope of Christianity. It's refreshing to hear about traditions and the use of Latin for Christmas carols. There is so much to be learned - so much in the borrowing and drawing of other, older institutions. So even if you don't put much stock in religion, I would encourage you to pull a Prometheus - yank it down from the heavens and make it your own. In my opinion, religion isn't the Divine's biography. It's ours.

As a recent visitor to Cambridge over Easter weekend, I stopped into Christ Church on a cold and…read morerainy Good Friday afternoon. I arrived between Lenten services but found the beautiful and historically significant church to be open - a lovely sacred space for peaceful contemplation. One of the clergy kindly lent me his charger to recharge my cell phone, which had run down navigating around Boston. As I stood in the foyer, I watched kids and adults dressed in costumes happily bustling about, preparing to perform the Passion play. Friendly parishioners young and old steadily streamed in and greeted each other (and me) warmly. It was obvious that Christ Church was an active and loving faith community.
