I've played on and off since I was about 14 years old but decided if I was going to play more frequently, I need to get some formal instruction. I signed up for an introductory lesson which went very well. Brent expressed the importance of first being able to make contact with the ball. We went through several drills where he had me use several clubs and just hit tees. He made a lot of sense to me and with some basic fundamentals I decided I was ready for the next steps. I purchased the package with four lessons. Brent's very good at listening to what you want to accomplish and assessing and evaluating your current game and then putting together a plan that works for you. One of the lessons was a full hour on his swing analyzer. I would highly recommend Brent, He is a certified PGA Golf Instructor. He has a professional manner and talks in easy to understand terms about the swing and the fundamentals of golf. He offers instruction to a variety of skill levels and provides instruction to a Junior team that competes in North & South Carolina.

I rented a top tracer bay and a bucket of balls. The top tracer has been added since my first visit so I decided to give it ago. I've done top tracer before so I had some familiarity of how it works. It was only an extra $5 bucks. It tracks your ball speed, carry distance and roll out, launch angle and apex. It will also indicate your accuracy on a line of distance you set. I really liked it and would recommend it for just a practice session. The only down side is you're hitting off a mat and rubber tee. The guy at the service desk was challenging to communicate with. I had to ask him several times, phrased differently about HOW many balls are in a medium bucket. I was not able to putt because there were so many kids on the putting greens. I probably should have called ahead to see if it was 'lesson day' but I expect during the summer it's busy.

Par 3 tee boxes have no grass, literally hitting off sand, cart paths are awful, fairway and rough are the worst I have ever seen them, the cups and bunkers are touched once maybe twice a week during prime season and the driving range is a total disaster (waiting for the "top tracer" experience). Spend your money else where in my opinion.

Today, I was able to use my GolfNow discount app for a $35 afternoon tee time. It was so smooth and easy, I just gave my name and the tee time and he confirmed the time and that it was pre-paid. The course is better than average. The fairways are in excellent condition as are most of the greens. There were several tee boxes that were a little ragged. I really like the way the course played. The fairways are wide open and there is very little water that comes into play. There is a driving range on-site as well as a putting area. A little interesting that there are no holes on the practice putting surface, they use markers with weighted bottoms that you can move around on the putting surface. The carts were clean and worked well and there is plenty of parking. It will be interesting to see what Mr Tepper does if anything to change or update this course.

Additionally, the placement of hole 3's tee box was incredibly confusing AND dangerous. Hole 3's tee box is in the direct line of those teeing off hole 9. As for the putting greens, oh my goodness, they were horrific. They were covered with so many golf ball-sized green broccoli head growths.. so my putts bounced and zigzagged. It was really annoying. Oh, and the hole cups were giant. In other words, you can't practice anything: no speed, distance, or control. You won't be leaving a better golfer at all. It's extra sad because this establishment has so much potential. Actually, I don't know. There's A LOT that needs fixing. :(

You go here for the variety and selection of gear. If you check their website before driving in you'll find they have a good one with up to date info and prices. All the walking and I've lost about 35 pounds the last two years so I needed some new belts. They have a brand called Laze which I like. Lot's of variety, decent prices and the seem to last. I also like that you can 'join their frequent purchase' program and save some cash. They really don't put much of their clothing on sale during the season but that's to be expected. You will find they will be stocking the latest and greatest in most all the golf gear you're looking for, especially golf balls, you will pay a bit more because the won't be available at a discount on Amazon yet. I like to get there "EARLY' because it gets very crowded on the weekends. It was well staffed at check-out and I was able to get in/out real quick without a wait in line. Everyone was nice and helpful. As I suspected in my first post, the other Golf gear store in the same shopping center went out of business.
