I've gone to Dr. Hussain for years. He does not push surgery as a first option if he thinks a problem can be solved with less invasive options. But if when that didn't work for my ankle problem, he did a great job with a surgery that fixed it for once and for all. The PT he works with also did a great job. Dr. Hussain and his team of medical professionals are outstanding! Fortunately, I never needed surgery, had a broken bone or needed stitches prior to my bunion removal. I'm in my mid 30s so I was very apprehensive about my bunion surgery. Dr. Hussain's compassion and bedside manner helped ease my anxiety. He assured me that the surgery was needed and it would help eliminate my bunion pain and discomfort. Dr. Hussain was patient and answered all of my questions at my pre and post operation appointments. I never felt rushed by Dr. Hussain or his adminstrarive staff. (Shout out to Nora for promptly responding to my calls and endless insurance questions!) I'm happy to report the bunion removal surgery went better than expected. I've been bringing Mom here to deal with the foot issues that come with old age. This is a wonderful place. (Fresh lemonade in the waiting room, free for patients). The staff is so pleasant and Dr. Bochat has helped Mom so much in just 2 visits. The first visit, they comped her a whirlpool and foot massage. She loved it so much that she has decided to make that a permanent treat during her visits. She likes being pampered. Arrived to the parking lot, which you have to pay for, I'm still confused why. Filled out the paperwork for my insurance (which I have two so I'm more than covered for the visit). I watched 4 people walk in after me and get called in before me. After 30 minutes of waiting I asked how much longer it would be, she said just a few minutes they were finishing entering my insurance (why can't they do this while I'm in the appointment?), also I got an email from my insurance they had already accessed my insurance 15 min prior. So after 40 min of waiting I went to ask, nobody was up front and I just left. So I paid $4 for parking to sit in a waiting room with no WiFi and bad customer service. Figured if they are comfortable with me waiting 45 min for an appointment, I probably wasn't going to be happy with the service, also I have an infant at home, I don't have 2 hours to go to a foot doctor. read more

Dr. Hussain's office requires you to complete the admin tasks associated with treatment. Upon completion of my second visit, Dr. Hussain's staff handed me a form and asked me to call my insurance to find out what areas of treatment my insurance company would cover. Considering the doctor and his office are compensated very well for any work and procedures associated with my treatment, I found it unacceptable that I be asked to spend my personal time completing a task he could easily ask his own staff to do. When I explained why calling my insurance would be difficult (due to working full-time and recently becoming a parent) the office continued to refuse to help. I discontinued my therapy. read more

Just go. I read the other reviews and I get it. But the staff is open to every question or problem you might have. It's the doctors that are great, and that's what we're there for - right? Really appreciate and trust Dr. Hussain. Even when I see someone else for a routine senior visit, Dr. Hussain always comes in to say hello and check the work. There is probably a better way to phrase that, but the bottom line is the same. He makes sure I'm well taken care of. read more

I had a foot surgery with Dr Hussein years ago which failed. I needed another surgery so this time saw his new partner Dr Khan. While they are both very personable they are very eager to do surgery, will make many promises regarding great outcomes and then downplay the less than optimal results and the amount of after care required. I was told after the second surgery I would be back on my feet in 2 weeks. The reality was more like 6 in a boot, then PT which was started too soon (based on their recommendation). I just think they promise the world but don't necessarily deliver. I think if you need foot surgery get a second opinion including one from an orthopedic physician. They may not make as many promises but they can do what say. BTW after my first foot surgery Dr Hussein wanted to immediately do a surgery on my other foot. About 8 years later that foot is still perfect, no surgery was ever needed. read more

I'm sorry to disagree with the two published positive reviews of Dr. Tayeb S. Hussain. When I visited him nine months ago about severe foot pains, he X-rayed my foot and immediately diagnosed a stress fracture. He prescribed a big black fracture boot, along with a stabilizer wrap with Velcro. After two months of using the boot I returned to Dr. Hussain, whose assistant began to measure me for a specially designed piece of footwear the doctor said would correct a bone malformation in my foot. I would need to relearn how to walk with this new piece of footwear, which would cost me close to $500. When I refused to go through with the new procedure, Dr. Hussain politely backed off. Months later my foot pains returned. I visited another podiatrist, a foot surgeon, in Highland Park. He took new X-rays and diagnosed my problem as gout. This seemed consistent with other symptoms I've had, including tophi prominent on the very foot Dr. Hussain examined--and ignored in his haste. I've since had an MRI and seen a rheumatologist, who confirmed that I have gout, not a stress fracture. Considering Dr. Hussain's misdiagnosis, I've concluded that, at least in my case, he's a careless practitioner. He dressed very nattily and was accompanied by student podiatrists during office visits--all very impressive. But the fact that I wasted time and money with Dr. Hussain is a red flag. My experience may serve as a reminder to future patients to think twice about a man who is charming and affable but whose advice may be questionable. read more

Like several other people who have written reviews, I have nothing but good things to say about my medical treatment, but I am not happy with the office staff. I ordered 2 pairs of orthotics and paid a $300 deposit. The orthotics cost $200 and $100 should have been refunded in January. The office gave me the run around, despite the insurance company letting them know I owed them no money. After my many phone calls to the office in Evanston, Chicago, and their external billing office in another state, I finally asked to speak with the owner. Dr. Hussain returned my call and they released a check to me in 3 days. I waited 2 months for a refund and was treated badly by the administrative staff. I would suggest the owner reviews the administrative processes to improve customer service because the staff are a reflection on the business. There was no reason for my money to be held as long as it was! read more

Please note this is a review of the office staff and procedures and not the doctors. As previous patients have commented the office is totally unhelpful and require you to verify your insurance coverage - unlike any other doctors I have seen. I had forgotten my phone and asked them if I could call from their phone so as to avoid another visit and another co-pay. They said no. I then asked if they would call and verify coverage for me. They said no. I noted that the phone lines were not all in use and that verification would take no more than 5 minutes. They said no, it would take much longer (in fact when I called from home, it took less) . They also insisted inaccurately (a lie) that i could use the phone downstairs (there was no phone downstairs) and that the insurance company would not give them accurate information on my coverage. Also untrue. When Dr. Hussain tried to intervene and say I could come back without another co pay to get my orthotics fitted, the office staff told him that he didn't understand how insurance companies worked. Too bad that the office staff is so nasty and unhelpful. A strong reason not to go there, in my opinion, despite the good doctors. read more
