This place is my saviour!
Any african will know it's quite difficult to find a place to get your hair done in a new city, and after sourcing around and hearing some "might as well take my rent money" prices, I've become a regular at Eva's hair salon. It's owned by, Eva (no way..) a lovely Kenyan lady married to a Scotsman. I'd say the time I spent SIX AND A HALF HOURS there getting my hair braided was the day we officially bonded. Apart from teasing me, Eva's speciality is in wig selling, which you'll notice in the display window. She also does aforementioned braiding, weaving, hair extensions, relaxing and seems to have a solid non-african client base as well.
She's not unreasonably pricey, and seems a little more "financially understanding" with students, as a couple of my friends get their hair done there as well. If you'd rather pinch the pennies and do the hair at home, Eva also sells a variety of hair
products, as well as body soaps and lotions. Do prepare to be social during a visit here, I've met some colourful characters each time! read more
