Cinema 5's screen is hopelessly underwhelming for this day and age, and the air conditioning barely seems to function. As some online reviewers have also pointed out, the experience just doesn't match modern standards or live up to the falsely advertised promise of a luxury experience. It's in a great location, with friendly staff, but it's clearly time for major refurbishment and maybe new owners/management at the same time.

The chairs are very comfy as everyone has mentioned. Even though the theatre size is much smaller than your typical ones like in South Bank, I really liked it. If you live in the area, purchasing a membership would be worth it. The movies being shown were a mix of unique and blockbuster. I liked the waiting area where I could pick up several brochures or magazines while I wait on my friend to arrive. They were kind when I went to pick up my tickets and had no problems there. They had plenty of candy, popcorn, and ice cream behind the counter. You can also purchase adult beverages as well! I had a great experience and think this would be a great place to take a date! If your date isn't too familiar with Brisbane, showing off this part of town and taking a walk along the river before the film would be so sweet.

To my shock, it cost my friend and I $40 to go see a movie with snacks. Tickets were $11 each, leaving $20 for on a box of pop corn and a drink. Please explain how this is possible??!?! I understand businesses have to make money but when you can buy a bag of corn kernels at the shops for a couple of dollars paying nearly $10 for popcorn is outrageous. Don't get me started on the drink which costs even less. What happened to the days of $5 tickets, cheaper snacks and packed cinemas?? Now it is way too expensive to go and this can be seen by the large number of empty seats.

Everyone came dressed up and we were treated to a nice glass of prosecco as if we were back in the 1920s at a party hosted by Gatsby himself. They went all out for this premiere with a bess dressed contest, fashion show, Yelp photo booth, and rafffled away some great prizes. When it was time for the movie, we all shuffled into the theatre and were welcome to an intimate theatre with super comfy seats. We were greeted by the friendly staff who informed us of the next premiere. I liked how they informed us that there would only be one preview before the feature started. I felt so comfortable and enjoyed the screening very much. Most reviews note how uncrowded the theatre usually is. The premiere was sold out on this particular evening but I really enjoyed seeing all the enthusiasm for a Thursday evening premiere. You can order popcorn and soft drinks but they also have wine, choc tops, and cheese platters on the menu!! Can't wait to go back here again.

The traditional cinemas have smaller screens and felt seats, though one advantage of the seats is that the arm rest can be pushed back. The Vmax cinemas offer a much bigger screen and leather seats, and usually fit more people than the traditional cinemas, which is why only the most popular movies are shown in Vmax. The Gold Class cinemas seat around 40 people, with all of the chairs being comfortable leather recliners. The chairs are usually grouped together in pairs of 2, making this movie experience best suited for couples and groups of 2. The Gold Class area also has a bar, and you can order various food from the menu, and specify whether you want it delivered to your seat at the beginning or in the middle of the movie. Event Cinemas Chermside has a large candy bar area, and whilst the popcorn and drink combos aren't too expensive, you are much better off purchasing bottled drinks from the nearby vending machines. It is also a bit annoying how they only make hot food on request, rather than leaving it in the heated food area. The lolly area where you can choose your own lollies is also a bit limited. On the plus side, I have found the candy bar staff to be very friendly. In terms of value, I highly recommend purchasing movie tickets through Telstra if possible. They will only set you back $11 for standard sessions, and $14 for Vmax sessions. Tickets can be purchased through the Telstra 24x7 app for all sessions excluding Saturday's after 5PM and public holidays. It is also worth noting that off peak Gold Class sessions often only cost $25, rather than $39.50. Most of these sessions are on weekdays.

What many people don't realise is that the same people that operate the South Bank cinemas have a few other locations; Hawthorne, Balmoral and Victoria Point. Victoria Point in particular is my favourite, mainly because it's closer to where I live, but also because there is ample free parking and it's a lot quieter than its city based counterparts. Victoria Point also offers a Deluxe Cinema option, which costs an incredibly cheap $12.50. It's not quite as superior as Gold Class in other movie complexes, but it's still a step up from the regular cinemas. The chairs are more plush and in groups of two. You can also order food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages, to be brought to you during the movie. My only complaint is that the chairs do not recline, one of my favourite aspects of Gold Class. However, if you want a bit of a treat you won't find much better than this at such a super low price. And if you're seeing a movie suitable for children, it's a great way to avoid noisy kids or bravado teenagers. Take note that opening hours depend on session times, but the general rule is that doors open 15 minutes before the start of the first session each day, and close about 15 minutes after the start of the final session of the day. On Mondays there are no late-night sessions.

My favourite bit about the Twin Regal is the gentleman who sometimes takes tickets at the door. Restaurants include Mo Charcoal Alley, Ramekins, burrito bar, Nandos, pizza capers, fry hard takeaway, Ronnys, an Indian, zarrafas and a sushi train. There is plenty of parking also.
