Great pieces, good prices and decent variety. Not gonna lie, a lot of this stuff is dated but if you enjoy painting or sanding furniture or big on DIYing, this is the place for you. So far I bought a wooden coffee table that was $55 and an upholstered bench with iron sides that was $75. Tell me, where can you get good quality furniture pieces for those prices in NYC? Plus, since I carried both pieces out of the store (when I say carry, I mean my stepfather picked it up and put it in his car), ETG gave me a 10% discount. The coffee table did have a few scratches on the sides and a round water stain (coasters, people!) in the middle. I brought it home, sanded/stained the top and painted the bottom part white...it looks freaking amazing now! My experience with ETG was peculiar. After realizing that I sure as hell can't afford Express and Banana Republic, and wanting to up my clothing game a little (paring down to basics), I went to arguably the most popular thrift store on Staten Island. Upon arrival, wife and baby in tow, they asked me to please leave my beverage at the desk, not politely, but not necessarily rudely. Aloof, I suppose. Sure. Then they also asked to leave my diaper bag. Eh, uh, okay. Immediately put off. What if my baby needs a bottle? I gotta go all the way back to the front? Little did I know that there was only one floor available, so my annoyance was relatively unjustified. But still, coulda been nicer. In the store itself, it is very well curated, organized far better than the Salvation Army I struggled to search through. The men's section was bustling with good deals for vests, suit pants, and basic button downs. They also had a variety of athletic jerseys, swim trunks, and ties (which I found relatively overpriced). Side story: midway, I struck a conversation with the same aloof cashier previously mentioned, and she turned out to be very kind and funny. So, there's that. There was also a very nice young lady stocking in the aisles. The outcome was small, but great: a button down for less than three dollars, and these perfectly fitting shorts for less than seven. From, yeah, Banana Republic. The icing on the cake that really sells this place is their flyer in the front that showcases other thrift stores on the island you might not have known about. Yes! I have the lamp I've been wanting for 20 years! And it didn't even cost that much! Now my living room can look like the interior of Yaffa Cafe! The very first time I went into the Every Thing Goes Gallery, I had a strong feeling they were going to be the place I finally got my tacky Italian lamp with a marble table attached. They didn't have one at the time.. but I asked a very helpful employee, and he said that yes, they did get such things in from time to time... I asked him to call me if ever they did... I didn't get a call, but checking in from time to time works... I even had two to choose from! And it's so perfect! It actually wasn't the only thing I desperately wanted there. They also had a couple of lovely vintage art deco dressers with the round mirrors... I've always wanted one of those, too, but I can't afford a new bedroom set right now... even though the prices are truly amazingly good. If it's your thing, they also have a whole room devoted to 1950's modernist stuff... and just all kinds of vintage furniture, art objects and decor items... sculpture, dishes, rugs, glassware... etc. Even more useful - they have a photo gallery of new stuff for sale, updated a couple of times a week, on their website. They don't offer delivery service, but if the item(s) you're buying aren't *too* large, there's a car service right next door which will be happy to ferry you and your new acquisitions to the ferry... or elsewhere. And the employees at the Gallery will be happy to help you get your items to the car. *Closed on Sundays and Mondays! If they seem to be closed when they ought to be open, go to the furniture store on the next block and ask them to let you in - they'll be more than happy to do so! read more

I've been going to this place for at least 10 years. While their prices are good, thier staff is made up of the strangest people in the Ganas cult group. They follow you creepily all over the store and act like you're going to steal something. The prices are the ONLY thing that keeps me going back. The items are hit or miss so check it out frequently. As yelp says "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" This is true. ETG is the best vintage/used clothes store I have ever visited. The place is extremely organized, categorized and a treasure chest full of great deals. I have been going to ETG for many years and I can tell you that they are still keeping prices reasonable. It's been a SI institution for many years but i know many people from all around who take the SI ferry just for ETG - it's only a 10 minute walk. ETG holds it down for SI. If you want they also have a Cafe a few block down that sell fair trade coffee, vegan baked good and other healthy items before you jump back on the boat. read more

Love this place!! I am a serious thrift/second hand/vintage shopper and this place is by far one of the best in the city! They have an amazing selection of vintage clothing for very cheap prices! I don't usually find newer items here, but the vintage section in great. In the past I have struggled with finding nice vintage clothing in my size. EG has a lot of vintage clothes in sizes 10 and up. Woohoo! My lil' sis bought her prom dress here and I found a vintage evening dress that makes men weak in the knees! ;-) read more

Great finds!!! The staff are really very sweet and accommodating. They also sell some jewelry and Ben Nye make up for Halloween, they have a good selection of costumes. Only thing is I noticed is the lack if small sizes. It's close to the ferry which is nice if you're from lower manhattan and you want a cheap shop and a relaxing ferry ride, although the neighborhood is a bit dodgy. All in all this place is one of the best thrift shops on the island if not the best! read more

Wow. I've never seen a selection like this. There is an upstairs, downstairs, outdoor tented area and a building a few doors down that also has an upstairs & downstairs. You can find old sewing machines, end tables, coffee tables, bed frames, picture frames, china closets and lots of vintage decorative items. Most pieces were reasonably price but there were some expensive items that I'm sure are still a steal. I bought a vintage metal trunk that is completely rusted, I liked the worn out look to it and I want to use it to display my collectible books. When I was paying for it the cashier told me it has been in the store for 30 years, literally waiting for me to purchase it! The woman cashier and the gentleman walking around on the floor were so nice and helpful. They also told me new furniture comes every week so I will be back to check it out every so often so now on. read more

My pants zipper gave out and I needed pants in a pinch, leading me to this place. What I discovered was an amazing selection of simple and sharp clothes for less than $5-10 apiece, with friendly staff willing to help out at a moment's notice. I got a great pair of slacks for under $5, and part of me wishes I had gone on a shopping spree and blown $50 on a wardrobe of great work clothes. Maybe next time! I absolutely love the stuff here. There is amazing staff that will help you find stuff and when I asked their opinions of some clothes on me they gave me honest answers and it was just a lot of fun. Sometimes I don't like the stuff they have, but the turn over of new stuff coming in is pretty fast so I usually will just return the next week and end up finding a whole bunch of stuff I love. Halloween season at this place is AWESOME, too. I probably go here every month and if I don't find anything I like, it's always just really fun to hang out here for a bit. read more

If you have been inside a thrift shop before than you more or less know what to expect. The lay out is in a few small rooms so it gives you a cozier vibe than the Salvation Army on Staten Island.
