HIDDEN GEM Pros: affordable, nice brands, huge selection (store is ginormous), staff is not up in your business (Many ESL which is lovely / a great opportunity to practice your Spanish) and, shop cat extremely friendly, helpful, and talented Cons: smells like it has been fumigated in the past (recommended washing all clothes before wearing), quality control (some clothes have holes / blemishes so look out), dusty, not super organized.

The shutters being half way down at 5:16pm and the closed sign. This was taken 7/23 n a Saturday.

So I decided to go in really quick to get an item. Wouldn't have taken me even 5 mins. The door sign says they close at 5:30pm and much to my surprise the shutters were down half way and the sign said closed and it was only 5:16pm. Let's just say I'm not pleased with this.

Hello mr cat, I love you
    Daria S.

Omg this place is huge! You'll really need a lot of patience to look it all over. But so far this is one of the cheapest thrift shops I've ever been. Sometimes you can find really cool pieces there for an amazing price, sometimes it even still has tags! But really annoying thing is that they have only two cabins where you can try on your cloths, for this huge store it is not enough. Also for some reason most of the mirrors is covered.

I like this thrift shop…read more If you don't know, Out of the Closet was originally founded to help raise funds and awareness for AIDS Healthcare Foundation. To this day, when you shop or donate at Out of the Closet, 96 cents of every dollar made goes to AIDS Healthcare Foundation's HIV prevention and treatment services. That's why the walls are painted and there's signage indicating they have high-quality HIV testing services. Now you know. Solid mission, and it sounds like they are doing good work. It makes you feel a little better about spending your money here. Personally, I also like that they are better organized, and have a better selection (one non-hipster's opinion) than some of the competition in the general area, like Buffalo Exchange. There's a nice book section (I like to read!) funkier clothes (I'm not at a thrift store for basics), and the t-shirts are organized by color, as they should be. The prices are occasionally insane, at least from the perspective of someone who doesn't pay $150 for jeans ever, least of all at a thrift shop, but mostly they are pretty fair. If I have any problems, it's with the lady who spent a solid half hour in the only dressing room, seemingly just staring at herself in the mirror until I got completely fed up and knocked on the wall. That's not really the staff's fault, I guess. The staff is actually super nice in my limited experience, but can occasionally get distracted, and don't spend enough time making sure people don't stare at themselves in the mirror for half an hour.

The place is big spacious and clean. Everything was easy to find. I did find some things to be pricier than i would have like but i will definitely try and make my way to this place whenever im in the area. They currently have some of their Halloween items out on display

This place takes advantage of their community. The prices are really high for what they offer. I…read moresaw a 20gal fish tank being sold for the same price as if you were to buy brand new at Petco (which ships to you too). You also can't tell if the aquarium is damaged until you fill it up. By then, you're screwed. A busted old canvas cost $40 when you could buy one at Target for less. I'm not trying to punch them by saying corporations sell for cheaper, but if you're a thrift store or you're supposedly non-profit and want to help your community, I think the prices should be relative towards that. I came here the first time last summer to donate an entire SUV worth of stuff. I felt unappreciated. No one guided me on what to do here. I had to ask workers and they just told me to leave my stuff in the back room. While I unloaded my cart full of new with tags branded clothing and really nice furniture and home decor, one of the workers was already digging my stuff calling dibs on whatever she wanted. Overall, it's a nice place with a decent selection but they really have to lower their prices. A lot of the stuff they have are 20+ years old and not in a good way, but they sell as-if it's new and retail. I was hoping some families could benefit from the clothes and home goods I donated, but sadly, I think most of the workers will pick out the nice stuff. I'm not against the employees having nice things, it just doesn't seem fair for the shoppers. I continue to donate only because I don't want to toss this stuff in the landfill when they're perfectly fine but I'm a bit upset they're profiting so much off my stuff. I wanted to do a good deed and I realize there's definitely no recognition for it.

The store is an absolute mess, and everything is extremely poor quality and way overpriced. There…read moreis so much stained clothes, cheap brand names, and just plain garbage.
