I noticed I had a clogged second story gutter and originally booked a cleaning service with a different, larger gutter cleaning company that gave me an estimate of up to two weeks to have the service completed. Shortly after making that appointment, I got a call from Jimmy, the owner of Everything Gutter, who had gotten my information from my Angie's List inquiry. He sold me on their price being $10 cheaper than what the other company was charging me and said he could get me on the schedule right away to have someone come out within a few days (I called on a Thursday and he said it would likely be completed Monday). So I agreed to go with Everything Gutter because they were more local and cheaper and I canceled the service I had already booked with the other company.
Monday rolled around and no one showed up to clean my gutters. There was also no communication about an updated service date. After a week went by with no update, I called Jimmy again. He told me that their schedule is "floating" and that the work would "be completed before I knew it," and gave an estimate of within the next week. His demeanor was very used car salesman like, waving off my concerns instead of addressing them, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to wait.
Another week passed with no service and I gave Everything Gutter another phone call, leaving a message with a receptionist. Two business days went by without a response before I called again and eventually received a call back from Jimmy. I voiced my frustration that it's been well over two weeks since we first talked. He sold me on the promise of quicker service that still wasn't delivered. In the amount of time that had passed, the company I originally booked with could have completed the work. He told me he didn't lie because he used words like "should" and "likely" and he said that I wasn't listening closely enough. He was patronizing and tried lecturing me on the importance of having patience. He again told me that the service could "likely" be completed by the end of the week (we're now up to over 3 weeks since my initial call when I was told it'd be a few days). I asked him if he could guarantee the work would be completed in that window. He said no. I asked him to take my credit card out of their system and remove me from their schedule because I was tired of being strung along.
Similar to another customer that left a Google review, when I mentioned I would be leaving a review of their poor customer service, I received a retort back that it sounded like I would be the type of person to do so. This is literally the first ever negative review I've left for a company online. I gave this company multiple chances to deliver on the promise of their service, but they continually moved the goal post without justification, had poor communication, and the owner was condescending when I called for updates. Wasting over two weeks of my time and dealing with subpar customer service was not worth the potential $10 savings. read more
