Their new store on Franklin Farm Lane is very neat, well-lit, and easily navigable. They carry a wide selection of foods for those on restricted diets like gluten-free, diary-free, and more. Both shelf-stable and refrigerated/frozen foods. Beware, it'll cost you a hefty amount for these foods! I feel this store carries a great selection, but their prices are too high. Some things here and there feel reasonable, but generally I can find the same items online from trusted sources for much cheaper. Sure, there may be shipping and a wait, but it's often worth it. I come here to browse sometimes, but have also relied upon it for homeopathic remedies. When my hubby cracked a rib, he wanted the homeopathic remedy to help speed healing. It was nice to go to this store and get it. They had it in stock, just what I wanted. Very convenient. It seems like The Nutrition Center is family-run, and I see two younger adults there sometimes which I tend to think might be the owner's children. I'm not sure just how knowledgeable these two are about the details for items they carry, but they seem friendly enough. Their website could use some regular care, they still have information about their grand opening from October of 2013 and it is now June of 2014. Perhaps adding in some information about new items, specials or sales, or educational information would spruce it up. Sadly though, it doesn't seem like they really run specials or sales. While I really do like knowing this store is close-by for times when I don't want to wait for something to come via mail, I find it too expensive to frequently shop here. I adore supporting local businesses, but I'm also not rich enough to spend that much money there when I can spend far less online. They've been around for a long time, so I guess some can afford it.

They have such a wide variety of products that I would be surprised if you went and found nothing to buy. Every time I come, the staff is always so kind and helpful. Any time I have questions, they're willing to help. I also appreciate how many lines they continuously keep on sale. I buy Life Extension supplements here, and they always have it 20% off of the regular retail prices you find anywhere else or online. I've noticed many of their other brands are also marked down. They are very competitive with online in my opinion. I would much rather shop here than find somewhere online because they're incredibly kind and have given me so much of their time and for that, I love supporting them.

I was looking for some organic milk that wasn't ultra-pasteurized and while I did not find that here, I did find a source for raw milk and more exciting locally produced raw milk cheese. Don't tell anyone, but the Royer Mountain aged raw milk cheese from Clover Creek Cheese Cellar could easily be sold in New York for $20 per pound or more. Here you can get it for about $10. On top of that I was able to get a dozen eggs that were collected on the very day I bought them. The eggs came from Split ail Run Farm in Clearville, and were labeled Free Range and All Natural. I'm not sure exactly what their standards are, but same-day eggs are amazing. A dozen was $3. I brought them back to my in-laws farm and poached them gently. Then I put them on top of toast from Hot Buns bakery for a very Bedford breakfast. The shelves are a bit sparse (I had hoped for a broader selection of Tom's of Maine toothpastes) and the produce didn't look great. But they had local lamb and other meats in the freezer. Oddly they stock Boar's Head too, but I'm not going to hold that against them.

The parking lot was a good size but full. Carts were in good shape, and the store itself was clean, organized, and honestly one of the best-looking Aldis I've seen. We found everything we needed, but when we reached checkout only one register was open, and the line was about 10 carts deep. Self-checkout was available, but I told my friend I prefer to support the workers. Eventually, an employee came over, pulled a few of us to another lane, and opened a second register. That is where the experience fell apart. As soon as we started checking out, the cashier began slamming items into our cart--stacking them on top of each other with no care. I was shocked. I kept reaching in to move items forward because she kept building a pile higher and higher, and she told me to "let her finish so we aren't in each other's way." After she crushed my chips and slammed cold items so hard that seals burst, I finally asked her to "please stop slamming the items." Her response was that she would "try," and then she continued throwing the rest of our groceries into the corner of the cart. When we stepped aside to bag everything, we saw the full extent of the damage: over $100 worth of items crushed, broken, or compromised. My friend then told me this is exactly why she always uses self-checkout--this wasn't the first time it had happened to her at this store. I reported the employee's behavior to staff, but I will also be taking further action. Small town or not, being busy is not an excuse to destroy customers' products because you are rushing or overwhelmed.
