This place is great. I go here for specialty vegan items.. without it I would be lost. The prices are a little high but, I'm willing to pay for it.. This store is okay. But to be honest, I only go to them when I absolutely HAVE to! The store is locally owned and operated and is not part of some large chain. The customer service is hit or miss. Sometimes you enter and they are happy to greet you and help. Other times, you walk in and they are so engrossed in restocking a shelf that they couldn't care less if you were there or not. If the owner isn't there to answer your specific questions, you won't get much help from the hourly employees. They know some things but if you start asking more detailed questions, they simply don't know...and expect you to be happy with a mediocre answer. Overall, their prices have much to be desired. They are high. And because there are only a handful of health food and supplement stores in the area, they feel justified in asking for a premium price. They will not do anything for you if you ask them to match an internet price you've seen on the same, identical product. They are indifferent about their pricing and take the attitude with the customer that you can either take it or leave it, but we aren't here to compete with anyone. With that attitude I'm surprised they stay in business from year to year. Oh, if you buy a lot of stuff, as I watched one lady do, you will have to make multiple trips to your car to take the products. They do not offer bags when you check out, they will only sell you this expensive cloth bag and they do so all under the guise that they are being green. I call it being cheap! In conclusion, if you don't mind shopping online or ordering over the phone with a company, I'd do that first as this local store just doesn't care if you buy from them or not. But if you are in an absolute pinch and need it now, then you'll have to suck it up and pay their higher prices to have it now. read more

Asked to speak with the owner about business questions and the manager said I could only speak with her by appointment. I spoke with the manager because she offered to help answer my questions. Wonderful! However, once I started asking question, she didn't want to provide any assistance or information. She said go search for the information online. She did. It offer any assistance and did not even listen to my questions--answering incorrectly to the point I was trying to clarify. It was evident she did. It want to speak with me and did not care to help me. This is unfortunately consistent with my shooing experiences where I receive no assistance or even a greeting. Well, it's the only health food store in town so if you're looking for that oddball food item or gluten free donuts then this is the place. The staff is usually very helpful and knowledgeable, but the prices are high. That and sometimes stock on certain items is iffy. Not very friendly, the girls at the front desk look very uninterested, like they don't want to bothered at times. Everything is super high priced and the store is not welcoming, and I don't understand what gives them an edge to compete with online business if they are not even customer oriented. I would definitely take one of the negative reviews with a grain of salt (some people like to complain about everything without any context, it seems, and at length.) The reason that they don't have bags to give away is because of environmental considerations, which is consistent with the philosophy of the store. If you want, they will give you a box or boxes to put your purchases in. And of course, nothing is preventing you from bringing your own bags. I'm glad other stores are now emphasizing bringing your own bags, too. Yes, things can be more expensive than buying online, but like another reviewer, I don't mind paying somewhat more to support a local business which keeps organic and sustainable items in stock. Some of the items are actually quite a deal if you're trying to go with a greater quantity of natural or organic items in your diet...they have a bulk food section in back with various grains like oatmeal, rice and flour, granola, and snacks, which of course you can buy in any quantity, and also you can buy small quantities (or large, if you want, it's bulk!) of herbs and spices this way. (Why buy a whole jar when you only need a few spoonfuls?) They also have a selection of organic produce and a few locally produced dairy items (though the latter seems to have less variety than it used to, unfortunately.) I also like the selection of fair-trade chocolate and natural cookies near the front of the store. As to the staff, I would say a couple of times some of them do get engrossed in tasks, but I've never found anyone to be rude or refuse to help if asked. And the store is on the small side so it's not like you need to go far to find someone to help. All in all, they have a lot of items you're not likely to find anywhere else in Altoona, and therefore I'm also glad they're here. read more

I think the other two reviews so far are a bit unfair. They are a small store, locally owned like one person said, so for that same reason you can understand why this isn't a discount/bulk store. I don't mind paying a fraction more than on Amazon to support a local business. The staff has always been friendly and helpful in locating items in-store or offering to order what they don't usually carry in stock. They often have a free hot tea sample in the back and some kind of snack sample as well which is generous. They've got a good selection of health food items like freshly ground nut butter and an assortment of otherwise difficult to find spices, grains, and loose teas. Outside of food specifically, there are also a variety of homeopathic remedy items such as natural supplements, essential oils, aromatic destressers, and bathroom/grooming essentials. I'm quite happy and grateful to have them here in Altoona. read more

Really? I cannot believe the negative reviews here. I have always had a pleasant experience while shopping at Everything Natural, i could spend hours there learning about all the great healthful options. If i were able to establish a Health Food Store i would want it to be just like this one... except that i would like a nice little Cafe' in the back of the store. But then there wouldn't be room for more quality products. Which is the reason i shop there... for quality... not quantity. I get what i pay for... a good quality product from a good quality local store. read more

Was disappointed when I went there yesterday. The staff (at the counter) were not very pleasant, never smiled, didn't say hello or comment back on anything I said. I did not feel very welcome. Got a few things and got out of there. There was a gentleman stocking shelved who was friendly. I think he should be out in the front helping and greeting people. read more
