Being able to pick up my (large) bakery order and not leaving someone disappointed at home makes me happy. Had my list of must haves. I meandered through all the departments. Wasn't on a time schedule. I spent 2 hours in the store. Found beautiful baby lamb chops. Filets were $6/lb cheaper than my grocery store. Bought beautiful endive. Had to bring home the red wine peppered salami. Coming home, opening the cooler, and handing out foodie presents is like Christmas morning. The oohs and aahs were heard at multiple houses. The staff were very helpful finding my treasures. Wegmans trips make traveling for business worth it.

I found it to be quite a good store, with everything you could want: my weird health-food desires like coconut flour and buckwheat groats (that I usually have to visit specialty stores for); pharmacy supplies; lots of pre-made food; diverse international offerings; plenty of organic and pre-cut produce; flowers, etc. Despite it being my first time, I was able to navigate it without too much difficulty. When they were out of green onions, a friendly worker was able to refill the bin quickly for me (and direct me to the spacious, clean bathrooms). They have tons of checkout lines, only a couple were open with humans; and they have lots of self-checkout too. I mean, it's just a grocery store, but it's a pretty good one!

However, I think that's based on fond memories of the past that are no longer true today. Looking back on past reviews, where this location was compared favorably to other beloved grocers, tracks with my memory. Sadly today, the eagle is a feeble version of its once great self. The clearest indication of the fall from grace can be seen in the once sprawling beer section, set off in the front right hand corner of the store. It used to be overflowing with amazing brews from all around the world, with a deep selection of regional craft cans and bottles. Now there are empty shelves and other products tucked in where small Pennsylvanian breweries used to strut their stuff. My mother-in-law said this was the location to go to find anything you might be looking for, but I did not find that to be the case any more. I do not know if the culprit is store management, or if the reduced selection across the store is more of an indicator of the economic conditions of the town. Either way, I was compelled to weigh in on the change. Hopefully Giant Eagle can turn this location around and bring it back to its former glory.

I noticed immediately that I was charged 6.99 each. I asked the front store manager and immediately she said no you're wrong. The sign says you must buy 4. I would have bought 4 if that's what the sign said. Showed me the insert where it was 4 for 4.99 and I said ok but the sign on the product says 2. She says follow me and we went to the display and she grabbed it off and said well this is wrong. That's not our sign and Pepsi made a mistake. I said I really don't care whose sign it is that's the sign on the display. She was furious had me follow her to customer service where after a few tries she reimbursed my card 4.00. She loudly complained to her associate about it and made me feel I had done something wrong. I said thank you she turned her back on me and walked away. She was the front end manager today. I was surprised. Everyone has always been very nice and friendly there. She was not.

The last time I shopped my order was over $250 and I saved $80. That more than made up for the gas my car used in the trip to the store. However, after viewing my receipt I found a purchase I didn't recognized. I looked up the abbreviation and discovered it was for firewood. Huh? I didn't purchase firewood which cost 8.79. And I didn't even get the firewood. Well, I guess that takes care of the cost of the gas used to get there. Then I thought I would look at the rest of the purchases on the receipt. I noticed that I paid full price for the salmon that was on clearance. That was another $6.03 extra I paid for. But never mind, I still saved. Just not as much as I thought and I learned a lesson. Always watch to screen when checking out. Or at least look over the receipt before leaving the parking lot. One last thing that I should mention. The cashier was top notch, on the ball. Excellent service.

I had brought in my prescription sunglasses, but left my clear glasses in my truck. They said they needed my glasses to do a "trace." I received a text from my job and didn't have time to go to my truck and come back. They said I could come in after work. Around 6 PM I brought in both pairs of glasses. The woman on duty was Tam. She looked some stuff up on the computer, then took my glasses into the back area, out of my sight. She came back, then disappeared with them again. After I paid for my new lenses, she tried to return my glasses in a case. I didn't want or need a case. I put them on and walked out to my truck when I realized the frames were broken on my regular, clear glasses. They were broken when I took them in. In my opinion, Tam broke my glasses, then tried to pull the wool over my eyes by returning them in a case. It was either intentional to coerce me into buying new frames or accidental. She tried to deceive me, regardless. I will never trust Walmart Vision Center again.
