This Inneractions of today (new owner) is run like a headless zombie. Definitely not for people who seek consistent, compassionate care. Today's Inneractions almost appears to be a monopoly business, that survives, by brining in folks straight from rehab, sending them to Inneractions Sober Living, and bringing them in for groups. Like a factory wheel. If you identify as LGBTQ+ -- Inneractions can not cater to you. Inneractions does not have the necessary tools or staff. Seek other support. From the…read moremoment I (nervously) walked in, I could tell that the staff genuinely cared about what I was going thru and wanted me to get well. They made me instantly feel welcomed and comfortable, and throughout my stay I grew even more appreciative for the compassion and skill level of the staff. Their approach is very holistic and expands far beyond just the 12 steps. We learned meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, acupuncture, among many other things. The therapists are the best I've ever spoken with. I had 2 assigned to me including a trauma therapist who helped me work through issues I had never really spoken about with anyone before, helping connect my childhood trauma with my substance abuse issues, and giving me the tools to deal with it. The house is very spacious and comfortable with a giant pool and hot tub, and we had time to relax and match movies and hang out. I laughed a lot with the other clients and had more fun than I ever would have imagined in rehab and made new friends that I've continued to stay friends with after leaving. Beyond just getting clean, the Villa gave me the breakthroughs and tools I needed to stay sober and taught me how to enjoy life, laugh, and have fun without needing alcohol and for that I'm forever grateful. Reaching out for help was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Instead of leaving feeling empowered and equipped with the knowledge and practical tools I needed, I left frustrated and disappointed with the mental health care system. I don't feel I received the solid educational foundation or long-term coping strategies I was hoping for. They forced their views on to me. I felt trapped. I did not have a wonderful experience and if I ever have to do the rehab circuit again I will definitely be using places that are covered by my insurance. While there were staff members who genuinely cared and tried to help, my overall experience did not meet the expectations I had for such a highly regarded place. I sincerely hope Avalon continues to improve by listening to former clients and placing greater emphasis on respect, boundaries, practical life skills, individualized education, and preparing people for the realities they'll face after discharge. Beautiful surroundings alone cannot replace the knowledge, compassion, and lasting support that people in recovery truly need. I don't think most people understand how hard it is to ask for help. I only write this review so the next person can understand that Avalon is not for everyone. I brought most of my belongings with me only to have 98% of them taken from me upon arrival. Do your research before you spend tons of money on any program that doesn't improve your actual life and give you your own voice back. Care can be personalized. Many of the groups are foundational to success. I had a two month stay. I was challenged by surf lessons and I persisted in the instruction. There is plenty of Therapy and meetings. The outings and beach walks were perhaps my favorite activities. Very few people actually want to be in a treatment center but as far as they go, Avalon does pretty well for itself. Housekeeping and cuisine are well attended.
