Great and quick service. The feta fries were great and big enough for sharing. I got the spanakopita again and it seemed to be slightly overcooked, a bit burnt on the bottom but still good. The saganaki was great but the bread that came with it was thick like a garlic bread, I preferred eating it with the pita that came with the dips. Another great evening! read more

I've been wanting to go to this place for so long! High end greek food A friend and I went with the plan to order a bunch of apps to share. I personally wanted a drink as well but there was nothing that really spoke to me. We started with the greek fries that came with a nice portion of feta cheese on top. It was so good! We also got the pita and 3 dips to share, and if you want additional pita bread its free "refills", for the price of $28 I really hoped for the size of the dips to be alot larger than they were. It was fairly small portions for that cost. We got the tatziki, spicy dip and the eggplant dip, they all tasted really good and also came with a side of olives which was a nice touch however I'm not sure how but the olives were HORRIBLY salty. I usually love olives but I couldn't eat these. Crypiot halloumi was alsoo great and gave me a caprese vibe to the dish. Service was a little slow, we didn't see our waitress many times, and considering that it was a hot day I wish they had the a/c on. I think my friend and I finish 6 jugs of water that night . We ended with the most popular desert(can't recall the name) but it was the top seller, with phyllo dough, custard and whip cream...omg this was so creamy, rich and delicious. Today was very disappointing. We ordered the full chicken full salad and lemon potatoes (first time trying) we usually get the feta fries. The salad ($26) was serve with old tomatoes. Soft and had a strange taste. When tomatoes go bad you can tell. Not what I would be expecting from this place. First time the salad is left untouched. The chicken ($48) was cold but that happens with take out, it was still tasty like always. As for the potatoes they we're not even fully cook. The first bite I took the middle was crunchy hard. Thinking it was only that one, I took others to try. We had about 8 potatoes, piece the 3 that were bigger all not cooked. The 3-4 smaller one we're ok. $15 for the lemon potatoes. Our friend brought us here on Sunday. Unfortunately, the music was really loud and it was difficult to hear ourselves talk, or hear the waiter. We asked them to turn it down, but they just shrugged. Maybe they didn't hear us. Other than that, the service and food were good. We ordered the chickpea fritters and baked feta and cocktails for appetizers. The baked feta is really generous - there were three of us and I definitely had more than my share! It comes with chopped red peppers and is really flavourful. For the main, we weren't sure how much food to order, so we started off with the halloumi salad for sharing and the grilled calamari. The calamari was a bit weird - it wasn't quite chopped up; it was sort of half-sliced here and there, so you had to tear it apart and it wasn't great for sharing. If it had come in rings, maybe it would be better. The grilled halloumi salad was pretty great - I'd get that again. It was also easy to share and a single salad fed all three of us. For dessert we ordered the baked custard (warm) and cold custard. THe first one had phyllo pastry and the second one had a crunchy noodle-like pastry. THey were both delicious, but I preferred the baked custard. My favourite discovery of the night was the Croatian wine they served. read more

Great restaurant for brunch and dinner! I've been here a few times already and have enjoyed their food and service so much! Their brunch menu is very reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant, and they have a nice variety of options. On my most recent experience here, I ordered the pancakes and was very satisfied. The portion size was perfect and the dish was not overly sweet which was great. I really enjoyed the flavours and found it to be covered perfectly in the fruit reduction and syrup. Also, the whipped cream was so delicious! On another brunch visit, I ordered the chicken sandwich. Although this meal was delicious, it was a very large/tall sandwich which made it difficult to eat, especially with the whole inside sliding out due to the avocado/tomato. I was very full and satisfied with the meal, but would suggest going for the pancakes. For dinner, I shared the lamp chops and sea bass with my partner. They were just incredible. Nothing negative to say at all, they were both cooked to perfection and the flavours were amazing. Really looking forward to going back and getting these two meals again. Overall, the gyros were really good, really liked the balance between the raw onions, the feta, and the fried gyro meatballs but I thought the bennies were just average. We came here for Valentine's Day dinner.. reservation process was not very smooth.. I reserved online then they called many times, Once to confirm and once to take my credit card number (just on special events they do so) and once to confirm if I was ok with the set menu. They were very nice on the phone but I felt it was too complicated! Finding a parking is not so easy, but once ur there the I inside is very welcoming and the servers were nice.. I can't judge the food since it was a set menu. But almost everything was very good. Octopus was our least favourite but everything else was yummmy and you feel the greek authenticity! The food is pretty good, but for the prices they have at EVOO I expected to be really wowed, but I wasn't. The worse part was the music, which was quite loud. I know a lot of places have loud music as part of the ambiance, but we had a waiter who spoke so softly there were some words he said where not only didn't I understand him, but I heard nothing at all. I eventually stopped listening and just nodded at him. Guess I put the pressure on the other members of my dinner party... My daughter and I decided to go out for dinner. She was craving calamari and we usually go to an Italian restaurant for that but we weren't feeling like pasta for dinner so we agreed on Greek. We arrived on a Tuesday evening around 630 and got one of the last tables. Reservations are recommended. We sat in the shade on the outdoor patio along the side of the restaurant. Lovely for people watching. Our main waitress was lovely and attentive but they have a lot of staff and they all watched the tables and served us well from dropped forks to bottles of water. We stayed with the sharing menu and ordered calamari ($12) the Greek salad and the house half chicken. The total before tip came to $60. We did not have drinks. The calamari was pretty good. Bigger chunks than I am used to but not over cooked which is very easy to do. The tzasiki was excellent. The Greek salad was generous but tomatoes aren't in season yet. The chicken was superb (Recomended by our waitress) It was grilled with a delicate marinade but very moist. There was plenty leftover of the salad and chicken for lunch the next day. If you are craving Evoo for lunch you can order not directly through the restaurant but through the Evoo Souvla on Uber Eats (they have delicious gyros pitas on their lunchtime menu as well). For dinner they offer delicious grilled veggies and chicken or pork as the meat option - very delicious Greek food. Evoo is on the expensive side, but definitely a must try at least once in Ottawa. Just FYI - their menu for Breakfast and Lunch is totally different than their Dinner menu and many meals will not be available during their BRUNCH menu times. My mom and I shared a FOR THE TABLE House Spanakopita which is (spinach, feta & dill). This is by far the best Spanakopita I've ever eaten! Reason being you can tell it was house made and made fresh! Every other fast food joint or restaurant I've gone too that has Spanakopita is frozen-to-table-quality, which is gorse. I cannot rave enough about how good their Spanakopita is, you simply must try it! So for our meal, my mom and I wanted to share something but we did not want Gyros, well the waitress was so cool that she said they can make grilled chicken (brochette-style) if we wanted that instead of gyros, because it was not served at Brunch but only at Dinner. I decided to order the "Grilled Chopped Chicken" lunch plate as I was told it was chopped pieces of chicken breast by our server. Well... guess what? It's not. High noon and Friday and Saturday dinner times are times I'd look at getting a reservation. - Lunch menu and dinner menu are different and both great - They have some outdoor seating - They serve Skinos based cocktails, so that's a bit unusual - you may want to check it out - There are some tables that could be used as community seating (i.e. - you are sitting beside strangers). Be open to meeting new people! (Really, it's fun!) We ate dinner there, and went back for lunch. Both visits were great. For dinner, I had souvlaki and greek salad - and something else which has slipped my mind. My one complaint about the food was the one of the souvlaki stick was slightly over-cooked. Not a crisis, but noted. (My other complaint - and it may have been a one-time thing - they scheduled two very large groups back to back - so when the first group didn't move out in the expected timeframe, the other group had to crowd in and fill up all available standing room. Since I was eating at the bar, this impacted me. I had some woman flicking her hair in my face, while she waited to get seated. ugh! They need to be careful about the right turn-times in these cases. I'm chalking that up to learning opportunity for a still fairly newly opened restaurant.) For lunch, had lamb gyro and fries and salad. Yum-a-licious! Perfect. Great food but super slow service. Came inside to wait to be seated at the patio and stood there for longer than normal (like not greeted by anyone for almost 5 mins). Then got outside and had no one come for 10 minutes until I glared at the server who came outside 3 times already but was helping others including those who came later than me. But once she helped me she was very nice and gave helpful suggestions. Got the fig and manouli flatbread which had walnuts and arugula. But replaced arugula with other greens and that was easily requested no problem. Food didn't take too long and it was good! Ppl seemed to dress up a bit to come eat here though. I am really not sure why this establishment gets so many rave reviews. I find the music blaring way to loud, service is non existent and food is terrible - RAW CHICKEN and PORK! Either the food is undercooked for items that should be cooked to medium... or WAY overcooked for their imported Washington lamb... lamb is best served to order...not well done! The roasted vegetables were served warm at best and again lacking any taste or texture. Seasoning is lacking on all the food, there was no basic condiments anywhere to be found on the table. They pride themselves in family style dining but with the music blasting and lack of everything, they are better suited as a gastropub and ditch the whole family dining crap. Their restrooms are an inconvenience and in no way able to handle any kids let alone the mobility handicapped. It's rare that I take the time to write a review, but I was so disappointed with the service that I just have to. We were a group of 8 for brunch. We were seated by the window, which was nice, but too crammed for a large group. If one person wanted to go to the washrooms, we all had to get up. I ordered a cappuccino, and the waiter came back with what looked like a latte. When I asked him about it, instead of just apologizing, and bringing me a cappuccino instead, he said "let me see what I can do!" I wanted to reply back and ask him to do his job instead, but I did not say anything. He came back with my cappuccino (clearly their mistake!), and did not apologize. I ordered an omelette with duck. It was a very average omelette - very greasy and nothing special for a 16$ omelette. But that's not it, the waiter mixed up the order, and I end up getting my omelette almost 20 minutes after everyone started eating. Again no apologies. When he brought the check, I said "I usually don't like to complain but I was not very impressed with the service!" And all he said "Sorry!" - in a very nonchalant way and not a very apologetic tone. The music was way too loud for a Sunday morning brunch. When asked to lower the music, his response was "we hired a DJ. My boss wants it this way!" I will never return to this restaurant, and sadly enough, would not recommend it to my friends. read more

I have always been a fan of Greek food, something about the tzatziki and the herbs make it really tasty so I was excited to see that a new place opened up near my work to replace the incredibly short lived Dunn's. I have since been there twice and both times was really impressed. Both times I went for lunch, the first time with my coworkers and the second time with my girlfriend. First thing I noticed is that the prices are more than reasonable, for $11.00 you can get a wrap and fries. The first time I had pork, it was cooked to perfection with fresh vegetables and a tasty tzatziki, garlicy enough but not so much that your breath makes you a hazmat zone. The pita bread was sprinkled with herbs and was nice and crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. The fries are good and crispy and sprinkled with herbs making them very tasty. The second time I had a lamb wrap that was also very tasty, similar impressions to the pork, very good and very well cooked. The decor is very nice, very modern, the first time we had a table for our group and the second time we were sitting at a raised table that was shared with a few other poeple. It was a little cozy but not the end of the world. The service was very friendly although it could be a little quicker for an office lunch crowd , regardless I was still able to get back to work on time. I will definitely go back, it is now one of my favourite lunch spots for a sit down lunch on Preston. Went here with four of my BFFs and wow was it phenomenal! They accommodated my good friend who needed a no salt meal-with her own special meal that she loved. For the rest of us each dish was amazing-shrimp were to die for as were the lemon potatoes, the spreads, the cheese-everything-it was all amazing. So - unless it was a particularly awful night - glitches like the following should be ironed out by now:] Friday - August 8, 2014 In today's fast-paced hectic life this restaurant seems to have taken "old school" to a new level. Remember the days when going out meant Dad or the "host" of the evening picked up the cheque? Nah - me neither - at least not as a casual dining experience in recent memory - perhaps it was something done in my Father's day and age (he's in his 70s). We were presented with a Single Cheque - Drinks and All - with no one asking how we wanted the bill to be split. - awkward as we were obviously a couple + 1 and so old-school as to be... Novel? Only one credit / debit machine in the house - I think they are hoping most patrons will pay by cash - remember that paper stuff that used to fill our wallets? Me neither. Management is Waaaaay out of touch with that decision - or perhaps old-school. And... The default tip amount on the Visa machine was - 20%(!!) whereas the norm is 15... No showboating for our crowd though. The prices - and the menu- need an explanation. You order for everyone. - ie everything is assumed to be a sharing plate - with no explanation how this is scaled (max number of people $15 of Calamari will serve? ....-anyone?!). And scaled weirdly- the meat plate (and it was only meat) was $90 for 4 and $75 for 3 - although only shown on the menu for 4 people and we were asked if we wanted to take extra home instead of a custom order... the calamari, as with the other sides and appetizers was one price regardless of how many people it was for.... The eating "experience" took 3 hours for what was really just a 2 course meal. It wasn't because we were slow eaters or having a gab-fest either. The front of the house was well represented though: with about 5 or 6 servers, a bartender and I can only assume all 3 owners in attendance., yet somehow a good 1/3 of the house (seats about 40) was waited on by the Bartender (a no/no on a busy Friday night!). There were plenty of serving staff but it looked like there was only one line cook and one dishwasher visible through the kitchen window. Perhaps a reverse Trojan Horse of sorts? Owner A stated twice : "Sorry about the long wait - I always tell the kitchen 'I don't care if it's busy - take the time to cook it right'" which resulted in our Calamari appetizer - for god's sake cala-freakin' mari showing up AN HOUR AFTER IT WAS ORDERED. It was just okay and only our first dish of the night. We were asked - only once - by the bartender serving us- if we wanted another round of drinks- one of our party asked for water and off he went without asking anyone else - see why it's a bad idea to have bartenders wait tables on a busy night?! We were never asked again for the remaining 2 hours of the night. Then came the main and "sides" - The mixed grill plate came with OMG I can only describe it as one of The Best Lamb Chops Ever - each- (and unanimously agreed upon), the pork belly was super rich but tasted only of the fat - the chicken was good and juicy-tender, and the souvlaki was- well- a little dry. As for flavoring - no real spice or flavoring stood out here. The quinoa was good - black olives set the tone with other veggies added for highlights. The Greek salad was rather - ummmm well lots of olive oil- but perhaps the price should have been scaled for 3 - like the meat plate - to $12.00 as opposed to $15 for a few tomato pieces, 2-3 pieces or cucumber each, and a feta triangle per diner...at least there was no lettuce. For a place with a name like Evoo - the olive oil / olive flavourings / olives seemed to be in short supply. We were asked if everything was okay... Twice by one of the owners, once by another owner, once by random server, and twice by the bartender - our actual server. A bit too often for my taste. P.S. We were told our second drinks were "on the house" due to the slow service, but we were still charged for all of the drinks - even though we were served by the bartender. Eat a snack before you go. There's a lot of Greek restaurants in Ottawa. EVOO does it the best. You're greeted with a modern restaurant that although small in size feels quite large. To start with, you won't have any pictures of the Classic Greece or the cliche white walls with blue shutters. Instead, EVOO provides the next generation of Greek restaurants while serving all the classics. Meat is juicy and well seasoned and the octopus tastes like it was the catch of the day. The staff is friendly and the music is excellent. They play chic lounge music which perfectly goes with their decor. Well done and keep up the great work read more
