Additionally mug of tea would have been £1.60 each but pot of tea was £1.90 each with only one small cup of tea plus a very tiny amount extra in the pot. Normally pots of tea served at tea rooms come with pot of hot water to 'top up'. Very disappointed that this was not the case here.

As are the farm itself and shop, offering a great trip to see the animals for families, and tons of delicious organic local produce in the shop (see the two additional Yelp entries!). The restaurant itself serves up home-made foods of deliciousness, with much produce coming from the farm. You'll find a yummy sausage and onion baguettes, indulgent cream tea and fresh soups as well as larger meal options (the aforementioned being the three things I've tried!). All the food is a real treat, and with a warming fire in winter, it's an excellent place for a cosy winter pick me up.

The point of which is that we walked from the station to the seafront (downhill to the sea, then turn right along the waterfront) to Teddy's Beach Diner. We were here in early November and it was forecast for rain a couple of days before, but on the day it was blue skies and sunshine. And being on the 'beach' side of the road, the unobstructed views over the water are just amazing. The staff here are just lovely; they were engaging and we had brief but meaningful conversations - even about as mundane a topic as our choice for wine. For one server it was their first day at work. The service was uniformly friendly and efficient at every point. We sat outside but the service included keeping in regular contact with us to ensure that we had everything that we needed. The menu is as the name implies, a Diner style i.e. informal and American influenced. There are some seafood choices available given the seaside location, but as we were planning to have seafood at dinner I went for the more standard burger for lunch. It was very tasty indeed, served on a wooden chopping board. Brioche bun, high stack of (homemade) burger meat with tasty bacon and lovely pickles, and a little tin of fries to the side. My friend had a half rack of ribs, which was plenty big enough for lunch - covered most of the plate! We returned here twice for drinks over the course of the weekend. Sat indoors then as it was later in the day. Tables are a good distance away from each other so no crowded feeling. We even scored some free homemade popcorn with our drinks. Don't often find something for nothing. Prices are very reasonable too - both food and drink. In short this place ticks every box - comfortable, friendly service, amazing views, tasty food and it won't break the bank. Definitely recommend.

A great, slightly quirky, traditional pub in a great Sussex village…read more You won't find Chiddingly by accident - it's off a narrow lane off the A22, between Lewes and Eastbourne. The village itself dates back to Domesday and has a fine mediaeval church (worth a visit while there). In fact, the village has 55 entries in the listed building guide, so there's more than enough history to occupy the most hardened tourist before retiring to the pub for refreshment. The pub building dates back to 1774 (and possibly earlier) and is a Grade II listed building; the frontage of blue and red bricks looks suitably traditional, and through the front door there is a main bar area to the left and a wonderful snug room (with a huge fireplace) to the right. The interior is all wooden beams and stone floors, with a bar serving a good selection of real ales and generous portions of traditional pub grub, all with friendly bar staff. (NB The food is popular, so be prepared to wait at busy periods). Towards the rear of the pub, the walls are festooned with old pictures and photographs, and a motorcycling theme predominates: it is a well-known meeting place for bikers, and there's a club board by the back door giving details of events, runs, etc. Outside is a large garden, with lots of seating. The rear of the pub is decorated with old enamel advertising signs, covering every subject imaginable. Also at the back is the large, surfaced car park - perfect for rows of shiny (or, in my case, not so shiny) motorbikes. If all that wasn't enough, the pub also host a fortnightly folk and blues club (http://www.6bellsfolk.co.uk ) as well as its biker meets.
