This is fast becoming one of my favourite tearooms, especially on a nice sunny day when one can sit outside in the pretty courtyard garden, although on a chilly day the tearoom is very cosy. It is quite well hidden on the edge of Friston Forest and the Seven Sisters Country Park. The Farmhouse offers a variety of food from toast and crumpets to baguettes and welsh rarebit - and they always have an all-too-tempting array of homemade cakes on display. On Saturday I opted for the bacon and parsley hotcakes with salad, which were delicious. The only thing that rather spoilt the lunch was the ghastly mayonnaise that they served! Not sure what brand it is, or whether they make it themselves - but a spoon of Hellmanns would have been much, much better! If you sit in the courtyard, be prepared to make a fuss of the very friendly black and white cat who will come and purr beside your chair. Oh, and you may also have to contend with a few sparrows who will try and nick the leftover jam from your plate! However, I recommend that you pay with cash. Credit and debit cards are both accepted but you have to pay an additional £1, even for using a debit card!! read more
