Clark Innovative - Deck trellis, Santa Rosa!!

He is a professional, to the point, and very knowledgeable. He took all of my concerns into consideration and planned accordingly. He was communicative through the project as well. His crew really knew what they were doing. They were friendly, hardworking, and cleaned everything up at each juncture. The deck looks great and is built to last! Thank you Chris!

As a new home owner, having to do stuff for the house is still quite an unknown journey for me. And…read moreso, when we had wood rot on our balcony beam replaced, I was not excited to get it figured out. I read many reviews on Yelp, and after evaluating many contractors, I decided to use Yelp's project tool to contact Clark Innovative. When you do this, you get responses from many other companies too. Many reached out before Chris from Clark did. I ended up making an appointment with one of them to have them take a look at it. This person began has contract biz recently... and he did not seem confident. The way he was looking at it, he was reacting in a way that seemed like it's a bit of a pain in the you-know-what job and said it was going to cost a lot. He was a nice guy, but he did not instill confidence in me that he knew what he was doing. (He never even sent me a bid) After that, I wondered if I should reach out to these other companies that responded, but my intuition was telling me to wait a bit longer. Clark did eventually respond with apologies, and made an appointment to come look. They looked at it and just the way he was acting, I could tell this person knew what they were doing, and they came up with a solution to just replace the rotted portion, saving us half the cost! (So yeah, I believe the innovative part of their name!) It was all incredibly reasonable. Dates were pushed back etc, because of rain and other things, but I honestly didn't mind it. Chris tried to be a good communicator, and even when he wasn't, I could contact him and he'd respond. He was just busy. Sometimes, you can just tell with people who is being genuine. Who wants to simply do a good job for you, without gouging you or ripping you off. We need more of these people in the world right now. I'm glad I listened to my intuition, and waited for the right company to do the job. And I will definitely use them again for future work. It's really nice to have a good contractor in our back pocket.

He had been out about 10 months earlier to take a look at it and to give me his professional opinion. It was honest and invaluable. In fact, he suggested I ask the original contractor to fix the problem. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to do it due to time and money constraints. So, I asked Daniel to return to give me an estimate and walk me through exactly what it was he was going to do and what materials he was going to use and why. This really mattered to me because the issue was about waterproofing and drainage, neither of which was working. He answered all of my many questions and explained to me his reasoning and the thinking behind what needed to be done. He and his coworker arrived on time every morning, worked diligently through the day, and left the bathroom spotless every evening. They did the entire job in five days--removed the existing shower floor tile, the bottom tow of wall tile, and the curb, redid the slope/pan, installed a new waterproof barrier, new drain system and drain and new tile and grout. They did all of this for a fair price. Now my shower floor looks beautiful and the drainage works perfectly. I could not be happier and I highly recommend Alcazar Tile.

We did a shower and floor replacement in two bathrooms and Daniel made sure all went as scheduled. And when we decided to replace the sink vanity as an after thought, Daniel was able to fit it into his schedule as best he could, coordinating with the counter guy over the weekend. When we did have a set back, Daniel took it upon himself and went out of his way to make sure things were fixed/adjusted as quickly as possible. Both bathroom projects went smoothly, and we had a great experience with Daniel and his crew. We would use Alcazar again.

He walked us through every step of the process, and was always available for every question or concern that we had. Some contractors take a day or two to return your calls. Not Phil (or his wife, Michelle). He would either pick up immediately, or call us back in a few hours. He was always transparent, and willing to explain everything in great detail. His guys are fabulous to work with, and are such hard workers. Their craftsmanship and care for their work really shows. He also stands by his work. When we had an issue with some water leakage, he came immediately to fix it and covered all of the expenses. Hire Phil. You won't regret it. You won't get a flaky contractor. His work is beautiful, and we love our new home.

The workers abruptly stopped after noticing some damaged wood under the carpet. I called Phillip at Howard Construction. The person who did the work - Barrett - could not have been more professional or personable. Huge thanks to Howard Construction - who I will be using for any construction work, large or small, going forward.

The new cabinets are in perfect condition and have soft closing drawers and cabinets doors. The electrical work top notch and a lot of old issues were fixed including lining up all the outlets and light fixtures, which were previously uneven. The employees arrived on time each day, were clean, friendly, and respectful and they cleaned up at the end of each day. They were a pleasure to have over each day and trustworthy. Each day I am shocked at how great everything turned out. They make my house feel like a model home. While we are overall happy with the final product, there were some pros and cons along the way Pros: - Hiring Adval was a pretty seamless process. We requested a quote and within a week, Camila the consultant/designer came for an inspection of our area, measurement, and go over samples for a free quote - Since my husband and I didn't want to be around paint fumes, it took us a few months to schedule the project in tandem with a trip out of town. Adval respected that and didn't push; they simply had us let Debbie know when we were ready - While we were out of town, the painters Ana and Jeff were very respectful of our place. We had cameras setup for security, and they always cleaned up after themselves, turned off our lights, and ensured our doors were locked each day they were on site. They even helped bring in our trash bins after trash day! Cons: - Adval wasn't the most affordable in comparison to other quotes we received. However, we chose them anyway because their process and communication seemed the most thorough (in the beginning) - Since we had the work done while we were out of town, scheduling with the GC Pedro for repairs and touchups was a bit of a struggle as they were already busy with other projects - It was not made clear how EASILY new paint on the cabinets could get scratched and damaged. We had pre-existing rollout drawers in our bottom cabinets and they scratched the doors so quickly. In addition, some areas (drawer/cabinet edges and corners) have already chipped. We wish Camila elucidated this information to us when we were debating painting vs refacing and that Ana/Jeff/Pedro gave us care instructions for the new paint when they initially finished the project - There were a few doors that were clearly damaged prior to painting (corners were broken off/chipped but then the door was still painted over); Pedro ended up picking up these doors and they repaired them at their warhouse - It took about 2 months from the time we returned from our trip/initial paint completion to the final completion of the project (between scheduling, Pedro taking the damaged doors back to the warehouse to have repainted/repaired, and Ana/Jeff returning for reinstallation and final touch ups; the final reinstall was rescheduled on their end 3 times which was slightly annoying) - We changed our mind after initial completion from financing to paying the remaining balance in full. However, something must not have been communicated because the Synchrony account was activated and we didn't know until they charged us a late fee due to missing the first payment. We were able to get the late fee waived and ended up just paying off the balance through Synchrony. Again, annoying. Overall, even with the roller coaster of our simple project, the entire team at Adval was always respectful. They were quick to respond to my texts/calls and showed professionalism in their work. I appreciated that they were responsive and accountable. We are just disappointed in how fragile the final product is and we weren't properly informed.
