I initially contacted Excel Electrical because I was having problems with two of my ceiling fans. I thought I would only need two new wall units (which I already purchased). I called Excel because it was one of three Angie's List recommended, and Karen - the office manager - said a technician would be out the next day. Even though Excel was the third Electrician I called, Victor was here the next day. I showed him the two problem switches/fans and then showed him my other fans (I have one in each room & 2 in the kitchen). The first wall switch he removed had suffered a short. He showed me the 'Flash Point' before removing the ceiling fan. He discovered that the fan had been wired improperly, and give me my acceptable options that conformed to FL code. I had to order the switches and adapter for inside the ceiling wiring (which Amazon was able to deliver in 2-days). So by the end of the week, the fans were working perfectly. When victor got to inspecting my bedroom fans, both had burned out the wall switches and the lights. That night I picked up two 3-blade fans. Three days later, I had all eight fans working perfectly. Florida Power & Light has been bombarding me with ads for a whole house surge suppressor. I had done some research and Victor showed me their 'top of the line suppressor. With the monthly charge that FPL would charge me each & every month, the suppressor Excel would install would pay for itself after 15-months. Needless to say, I found Excel Electrical to be excellent electricians. We called Excel because of positive reviews we had seen. After Irma passed, 2 GFIs kept tripping. In addition our post and landscape lighting was not working. By the time the tech left, he had gotten the GFIs working (it was actually simple we should have tried) and said the post and landscape needed rewire. They would send an estimate. Paid him $325 and he was on his way. That night, the outdoor lights went on! A few days later we received an estimate for $2,200. We really got the feeling this young guy didn't 100% know what he was doing. The good: they were courteous and on time. The bad: inexperience. I spoke with Bob, the owner of this company to tell him that I had an electrical problem that was causing the main breaker on my AC/ heating unit to trip. I really needed heat because the temperature has been down in the 40s overnight. Bob spoke to Joe from All County Air-Conditioning, who had tried to solve my problem, but had determined it was electrical. Bob sent me someone within the hour. The young man, Bruce, fixed my faulty wiring, and replaced my circuit breaker. He took pictures and took the time to explain to me what had been happening. He was knowledgeable, polite and concerned. Wow! I don't even know where to begin. Over the summer I had some outdoor patio fans installed by Bart. What an amazing guy! He did a great job despite some complications that came up. This week I decided to call Excel again for what I thought would be an easy install of an indoor ceiling fan and a light kit on another existing fan. Tony came to the house and after everything he did for me, think they should change the name of the company to EXCELLENT Electrical Group! Such a wonderful man. My house is over 40 years old and the existing fan was installed wrong, the switch was so bad it was a fire hazard. Poor Tony had to get up in the attic, in 85 degree heat, to run new wire and fix what was done previously. Though I begged him not to go up there in the heat he insisted. All with a smile on his face and a sense of humor. It was a much bigger job than I thought it would be. He was so pleasant, professional and amazing. The bill was very reasonable and the work was exceptional. I highly recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done.
