If you will be visiting this area for any length of time, do stop in here and find out all the area has to offer. You will definitely benefit from the stop. Happy motoring!

We usually head straight for the trails or cabins, but we wanted to experience our first Comfort Food Cruise event, and this is where you pick up tickets and the souvenir. It was well worth a visit. This is a cute little building not far from the highway, with a large waterwheel on the side. Like many informational tourist stops, it's packed full of brochures. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, eager to answer questions. There are also some great books and goodies on sale, including a soundtrack cd designed for Hocking Hills, which we're looking forward to checking out - it came highly recommended by the staff. If you're not sure where to go in Hocking Hills, be sure to stop here first, and they'll help you out! Plus, the all-too-fun and quirky pencil sharpener museum is right on the grounds... but that's for another review!

Lot of trails (though not QUITE as well-marked as this directionally "challenged" hiker might like!!) and there's also a nice nature center, full of great displays, and apparently, some interesting community events (and great restrooms!!). I parked near the nature center, got my bearings, and decided to hike the shorter orange and yellow trails, which looped me around back to where I started in the parking lot area. Beautiful, lots to see, "somewhat" well-marked, but I made it out, so very do-able!! I wanted to also take the "Lake Trail," but didn't realize at first that it was the paved trail that started at the Nature Center. Once I realized I was heading in the right direction, it was a quick, easy trek to the two observation "shacks" on the shores of the park's beautiful Thoreau Lake. DON'T skip this short, scenic hike... Well worth the trip!! Blendon Woods (and all the other Metro Parks in the region) is a GREAT place for a day (or more...) in nature. Picnic pavilions, playgrounds, educational programs at the nature center, lots of trails... Definitely a four season GEM!! Check it out!!

The online…read morereservation site has all the details on lot size, electricity info, distance to showers, etc. However, it's limited in showing different dates, which is frustrating. Anyway, the check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 1pm. We paid fifty-three dollars per night for two adults and one dog, with a six fifty reservation charge. Check-in was easy, and the attendant was helpful; you just drive up to the office, check-in and go on your way. The layout is similar to a subdivision with cul-de-sacs and each spot having its own little yard, making it feel somewhat like camping in the woods. Our neighbors were quiet and most vehicles drove slowly. Everyone we met was pleasant and friendly. The camp itself was clean and easy to hook up. Bathrooms and showers were clean and there was plenty of toilet paper. Large trash bins were available along with gray water stations. The only thing I'd suggest is for the site identifiers to be repainted, as several had faded over time. We visited the beach, but didn't go swimming, given the temperature. The pond is catch and release and seemed maintained and not stagnant. The budget limitations need to be considered before passing judgment. We used bug spray every day and that seemed to help keep the bugs away. The site we booked had a level surface and plenty of room to back in. The water and electrical were easily accessible and worked fine. A lot of campers used an inline water filter. The water quality report is on the park website for anyone interested. The grass was well trodden, making a camp rug a must-have. There was also a fire pit with a grill attached, but we didn't use it to cook. Also, at the time, there wasn't a burn ban. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we'll definitely return. It was fun to walk down the aisles and see all the setups and decorations and note future camp site options. How many campers are long-timers, it's hard to tell. But we were pleased and our dog loved exploring on our walks.
