Had a great time today zip lining. We were getting ready to leave town to head home when I remembered a sign we had passed on the way into town with zip lining. Wanting to extend the weekend a couple more hours I called and they were able to fit us in for an afternoon excursion. The mood was fun and jovial when we arrived, hammocks, a fire pit, some Steve Miller band playing in the background. Everyone was in a good mood lounging around waiting for our tour time. When we were called, our guides introduced themselves, handed everyone helmets and markers and told us to write a nickname on our partner's helmet next to us... and that for the rest of the day they would be calling us by these names. They weren't lying. Next we got into our harnesses, loaded into a couple all terrain vehicles and cruised to the top of the mountain. After a short introduction on how to zipline our guides took us to the first course and we began to 'zip'. The guides kept the mood lite and were very knowledgeable about the area, the mountains, and the history of the Adirondacks. Our group was compromised of 2 couples and 2 families, no one in the group knew eachother to begin with however, an hour or so in everyone was laughing, helping and encouraging eachother and taking pictures. All in all it was a great experience, in my attempt to add a couple of hours to our weekend lake placid trip we found something that was a lot of fun and would love to do again. We had a great time meeting the people in our group, everyone was great - I think this is the perfect activity for a group of friends or couples visiting the area though. Next time we're up with friends, this will definitely be on the list of things to so. Being able to zip down the mountain, hang with your friends, and feel like you actually got a bit of a workout in = Finally, while right now they only had the ziplining and team building course - our guides told us about some of the plans to add rock climbing, night headlamp guided star tours, and potentially even some mountain biking trails. We're looking forward to watching this place grow in future years. My only recommendation would be maybe have a grill and sell some burgers and dogs or invite a good truck to the parking lot to offer food after the excursions. All in all though 9/10 time, would recommend to a group of friends, family, or couples looking for a fun activity. The engaging guides make it a lot of fun. read more

I think I may have only taken the time to write 4 other reviews IN MY LIFE...(2 of them were poor). THIS HAS TO BE SAID... I admit when we first pulled into the parking lot, I questioned our decision to go there. It was very small, muddy and a.t.v.'s were driving about the property. However, as soon as I walked through the door, the staff made me feel right at home. It was an easy check in and soon were getting our gear on. We were given 2 guides, Buck, (a funny, young gentleman that puts you at ease and supports you in any way he can), and Cooc,(I obviously have no idea how to spell her name, but you will know it is her because she has the most stunning eyes). These 2 guides not only explained everything thoroughly, step by step, but then they did it to show what it should look like. After that, they asked us to make a practice run so we all felt very confident before going up. While up in the air, they always shared tips, positive feedback and a few laughs! They were both VERY PATIENT! I had a blast and would recommend this place to others. BUCK AND COOC, I am not sure you understand what you did for us. All 3 of us were afraid of heights. One of the members in our group put "ziplining" on his bucket list. The thought of it made me terrified. We vowed to LIVE the rest of our lives, pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and "experiencing" as much as we could. I know for a fact that I wouldn't have been able to go through it without your kind words and support. You helped me cross that off from the list and for that I thank you! read more

Overall this is an amazing place and I would highly recommend it to friends and family. My girlfriend and I called the morning of the day we went and they were able to fit us in only 4 hours after we called even though they typically recommend making reservations 72 hours in advance. We went early in the season so it was just the two of us with the guides on the zip line course, which was very nice. The cost was $65 a person for the zip line tour, which I thought was very reasonably priced. Sharky and Scout were our guides and we wonderful. They were friendly and clearly knew what they were talking about. There was also a third guide getting trained but she didn't have a nickname yet. She was also super friendly. The atmosphere as a whole had a very comfortable and homey feel to it. The fire pit and the employee's friendly dogs made waiting for our zip line time a breeze. The whole facility is only a couple years old and they show a lot of interest in expanding and offering a wide range of activities for visitors. I can't wait to come back again! read more

We found Experience Outdoors through a google search of zip lining near Lake Placid. We came for the weekend and decided a thrill was just what we needed and they did not disappoint! Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the owners and Carl the dog, after checking us in we were free to enjoy the fire pit, corn hole and outdoor lounge area until it was time to suit up. Once the group was all harnessed up our guides informed us we would all need a nickname which really helped to break the ice within the group and make it so much more fun! The guides gave ample instruction and made the entire group feel comfortable. The views were amazing and the zips were so thrilling! It felt like we all knew each other by the end and we had a really great time, will definitely be back! Highly recommend for all ages. Additionally, if someone in your party is unsure the guides are willing to tandem to make them feel more comfortable. Our guides were super knowledgeable, patient and fun! read more

Experience ADK Outdoors has an incredible staff, great facilities, and phenomenal views. From the time we arrived, we felt welcome and at home. The guides clearly explained how to put on the harnesses and ensured we were safely strapped in. As we made our way down to the course, our guides showed us how the equipment worked and had each of us do a test run on a ground-level cable so we would all be comfortable and safe before heading up into the trees. The rides on the ziplines were phenomenal and the platforms are all constructed with great care for the trees as well as the participants. Each platform has a name corresponding to the area's history, making for great conversation as each participant is waiting for his or her turn on the zipline. I was so impressed by ADK's operation--especially considering they've only been open for a few months. I'm so looking forward to seeing what they do next and to my next Experience ADK Outdoors adventure. Thank you!!! read more

We had an absolute blast at Experience Outdoors! Our crew included three adventurous kiddos (ages 7-8) and four adults ready for some fun. We tackled the zipline course, which took about two hours--and what a ride it was! Our two 7-year-olds decided the heights weren't for them (totally fair!) and hopped on the buggy ride up the mountain instead. They still had an awesome time cheering us on and soaking in the views. Meanwhile, our brave 8-year-old was living her best life--she couldn't get enough of the ziplining, especially the plank jump and rappelling down like a total boss! The trust fall? Total adrenaline rush. Heart = racing. Huge shoutout to our guides, Slim and Trail Mix--they were funny, patient, and made the whole experience even more awesome. Afterward, we hit the net park, which was perfect for the kids to bounce out the rest of their energy. We visited on 9/12/19 to see what it was all about . We were greeted very warmly by one of the owners. He proceeded to spend about an hour with us answering all of our questions and actually showing us 1 of the actual zip line runs ( there are 6 in all & 2 rappel drops ) .We proceeded to book our group for the next day. Our 2 guides Scout & Grandma were AWESOME .Our groups ages were in the 60's & 70's , so needless to say they were very patient with us.Nobody in our group had ever been on a zip line before , but they made the experience fun .They were informed, well trained , fun and professional. We had pre planned to stay at the property & picnic (packed food & beverages ) , in their recreational grove after our zip line adventure . We were encouraged to stay and have fun as long as we wished . All of our group ( 8 ) HIGHLY recommend this experience and plan on doing it again on our next visit. Joe Q. read more

We had the BEST time on the Experience Outdoors Zip Line tour! From start to finish, the entire adventure was fun, exciting, and so well organized. Safety was clearly the top priority, which made it easy to relax and really enjoy the experience. Our guides, Cheeks and Boots, were absolutely exceptional! They kept us laughing the whole way, encouraged us to step outside our comfort zones, and gave us the confidence to fully enjoy each zip. Their energy, professionalism, and genuine care made all the difference and turned a great activity into an unforgettable experience. We are Lake Placid visitors on repeat, summer and Thanksgiving for the past 20 years. This was our first zip lining excursion and have to give it an A++. From the seamless online booking system to our guides - Peeps and Kuke, to the six zips (with great names and history) and the two repels - not what you would think - Experience Outdoors rocked it! The icing on the cake? I left a couple of sweatshirts behind because I was too busy playing cornhole and when I called to be sure they were still there, Maggie offered to drop them off in town on her way home from work! And then Bill followed up with a call to be sure I got my items because he saw the note Maggie left. My family and I had a great time. We felt safe during Covid season and we were happy to see the ADK from a different point of view. Those who worked at Experience Outdoors made the day just perfect! read more

This was a fantastic activity, especially during peak foliage! Our tour had 8 people, and was about 1 hour, 45 minutes long. The views were amazing, and the guides (Tito and Jumanji-they use nicknames during the tour) were excellent; they made sure everything was very safe, and also shared history about the region during the tour. I've ziplined many times before; the ziplines weren't difficult or very high, but so fun; this tour is suitable to first time zipliners and kids. Some lines could pick up speed faster than others, but I wish they didn't use the rubber emergency brake on every line-it led to many short stops, where you had to pull yourself in. The metal brake assist was helpful for those used to glove braking. I also wanted to clarify that there are not 2 rappels-they are both controlled descents. They were fun and exciting, but definitely not rappelling. read more

I was a bit skeptical when my family signed up for a zip line day. I wasn't sure if this was going to be a typical cheesy tourist day or a fun adventure in the woods. I rarely leave reviews, so I think it's safe to say that it was an AMAZING time in the woods. Our guides, Peep and Turtle, were professional and fun. My family, ages 60s - 30s years old, has some dare devils and some who are terrified of heights. Everyone had a blast, did all of the activities, and felt safe the entire time. I really appreciate that they don't make you pay for the photos they take of you, and I really loved the dog that followed us around the tree line. I recommend this place to anyone looking to something fun and different in Lake Placid. read more

Experience Outdoors was just the ticket we were looking for as a group four women escaping to the Adirondacks for a birthday celebration get-away which we hoped would include some adventure. KeKe and Rosie did not disappoint!!! They were our guides for a spectacular afternoon amid the treetops; zip-lining and rappelling down the mountain. It was such a fun girlfriend adventure that is HIGHLY recommended for friends, families and groups of all kinds. For some of our group, it was the first time zip-lining. We felt safe, supported and got to experience such a fun day making memories we'll treasure for a lifetime! Worth every penny! It's a bucket list item for sure!!! read more

This was my first zip line experience- fantastic! The tour was not just a zip line, but also a up the mountain trail ride, belaying, and regional history lesson by our two very friendly guides. Myself and my two 14 year olds had a great time. My girlfriend and youngest who elected to not do the zipline were nevertheless involved in the fun with key spots to take pictures and good natured joking with the guides as they hiked in between zipline platforms. Great experience for all and even for 14 year old teenagers who don't get excited about anything. read more

We had 2 guides they were both incredible. SUPER nice, patient, encouraging, helpful, and supportive (especially for those with fear of hights). Even in the rain we had the time of our lives. We got the 20$ photo package that was WELL worth it. I brought my phone and would recomend that unless absolutely necessary you do not bring yours. There were approximately 6-8 zip lines and 2 repels which were VERY scary but even more fun. Having another group with us definitely helped. Would totally recommend over a lot of other zip lining places. 5 stars! read more

This place was great and our family had so much fun! Our guides were Peanut and Scout and they were so great with our 4 kids (10-17). They talked to them like adults and treated them with respect. Oftentimes we go to places like this and our kids feel like they are treated in a babyish way. This may not seem like a big deal but it can make teenagers turned off from an activity. This was one of the best experiences I've had outdoors. I went with my mom on a Sunday as a last minute decision. We were in Lake Placid for the weekend and someone recommended this to us. Our guides were so nice and funny. They were understanding when I had some fears and doubts and made me and everyone else feel safe and made sure we were constantly having fun. The ATV rides, two rappels (free falls) and zip lines were incredible. I'm surprised this place doesn't charge more! Would definitely return in the future! read more

My 6 bridesmaids and I spent a day at Experience Outdoors for my bachelorette in Lake Placid and we had the most amazing time! We did archery in the morning and zip lining in the afternoon. We had an amazing experience here, even a little rain shower couldn't ruin the fun. The staff was AMAZING and made sure everyone was well informed and having fun. I personally was a bit outside my comfort zone with the repelling, but they were patient and made it an exhilarating experience! This was an absolute blast! We had so much fun. It was definitely a challenge for myself who is not physically fit at all. My husband and boys, ages 17 and 10 had a blast and while challenging still did very well and completed the adventure course. Wheels and Lunchbox were phenomenal! Lunchbox was our guide for the majority of the adventure and he was just an all around positive light. Highly recommend. We will hopefully be back next year for the zip line course! read more
